Chapter 245: TRACKER

"You are going to have to get him out of there as soon as possible," Viper ordered with a heavy tone, signifying how serious he was. "If he stays there any longer, he could reveal our location to the police and many other things. Create a distraction, anything. Just make sure to get Adrian out of that station before the Walters and Andersons visit him again."

Without any more words said, the men immediately scattered to fulfill their boss’s wish. They didn’t ask for a reason since it was so obvious. If Adrian dares to speak, then they were all done for.

In the hospital, the three ’Musketeers’ glared at the screen in front of them so intently that the men in charge of security of the hospital thought they had a beef with it.

They had gone back to weeks ago, checking the security footage from the day Ethan had been admitted to the hospital, hoping that they could either spot Adrian or anyone suspicious from around the hallway.

Edward stared into the screen and when he spotted something suspicious, he immediately ordered, "Stop," and instantly, the man in front of the desk pressed down a key fixed on the keyboard, pausing the images from moving any further.

They all stared at the male nurse who kept on trying to avoid the camera while pushing an old woman to her room. From the angle from where the camera had been placed, neither the face of the male nurse nor the old woman could be seen.

"Unpause," Edward ordered. The footage continued to play after the male nurse had dropped the old woman inside her room. After a few minutes, the same male nurse in the same uniform walked out of the room that he’d kept the grandma and walked directly inside Ethan’s room, sneakily while avoiding the cameras as he’d done earlier.

"That’s the man we are looking for," Felix concluded.

"But where do we start searching for him now? We don’t even know if he’s still in the hospital," said Daniel.

Felix was about to reply but Edward suddenly dashed out of the surveillance room, leaving them with a confused expression as they glanced at each other before following behind him. They followed Edward until he entered the same room where the male nurse had dropped the woman but they saw a different patient in there which only meant that the grandma had been discharged.

"This whole thing is seriously starting to annoy me now," Daniel grumbled under his breath. Even though his voice wasn’t completely audible, the other two were still able to hear him properly without straining their ears. "What are we going to do now?" He added.

After a moment of silence passed by, Edward replied, "We need to go back to the station and get Adrian out of there."

"What exactly are you saying?" Daniel asked, confusedly. "Didn’t we plan to have Adrian imprisoned before? Now that we’ve done that, why are we going to get him out of there?"

The three of them marched out of the hospital, heading towards their car. As soon as they got inside, Edward replied,

"That idiot has refused to reveal where he’d hidden Erika and if we keep on waiting for him to reveal something, it might take ages for him to do so. We have to get Adrian out of there and let him go. Just as we’d planned before when we found him at the club and took him to the station but later let him go so that he could lure us to his hideout, that’s what we are going to do and this time we will do it by ourselves without involving the police. They are too sluggish for my liking."

Edward spouted the words in 5 seconds which baffled the other two. He drove as fast as he could until they arrived at the station, finding Adrian in the same cell as they’d seen earlier that morning.

"Inform Mr Brown that we are here," Felix ordered and an officer went into the station to call for the attention of the commissioner.

Mr Brown came out and wasn’t the least surprised to find their presence in the station.

’It’s only normal that they would come back to check if Adrian had said anything,’ Mr Brown thought to himself.

Before the middle-aged commissioner could greet them, Felix requested,

"We want to redraw the case that we’ve filed against Adrian. He wasn’t the one that had our sister kidnapped."

As soon as he finished saying those words, the officers—the ones who were and not in jail, Mr Brown, and of course Adrian, the main character here stared at them with eyes wide open.

Ignoring their expression, Felix continued, "Adrian was right, it was indeed one of our business rivals who orchestrated the whole thing." Facing the flabbergasted Adrian whose head had already gone blank from not being able to figure out what they were planning next. "We are so sorry," Felix bites out with a tight smile. "And we are so sorry Mr Brown for taking most of your time with this case. Please release Adrian and let him go."

Still unable to speak, Mr Brown immediately regained his shock. "B-but what about the gun that we found in that house and the fingerprints result that says it was his fingerprint?" He managed to ask. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

"Well, we never really saw the result so we don’t know if it was his fingerprints that were found on that gun," Daniel was the one to reply to Mr brown. "And as for the underground gambling investigation, we have nothing to do with it. It’s just information we discovered and decided to inform the police. If you want, you can continue to search for the club, Midnight Mirage," he added.

"Adrian had been our first suspect and we didn’t look into our other enemies before accusing him of such a thing. Please release him now and let him be free," said Edward.

Still finding the sudden change a strange one, Mr Brown could only release Adrian.

Earlier this morning, they’d wanted to strangle Adrian to death and now, they wanted him to be released because they found out that Adrian wasn’t the one who kidnapped Erika Walters. It was quite confusing for all of them but they decided to not say anything and just do as they were told.

Mr Brown signaled the officers to release Adrian while Felix hurried the others to pack Adrian’s things that they had taken away from him before they put him in jail, including his phone.

Felix grabbed the phone and examined it as he mumbled, "This is quite an expensive phone."

Adrain’s clothes were given to him and so was his wristwatch and other accessories.

Without any word, they walked Adrian outside of the station with their hands on his shoulders in a friendly manner which only creeped the hell out of the latter. Their sudden change of attitude towards him was beyond suspicious and he would like to find out why.

"You people are letting me out of jail just like that? Is this some kind of trap?" He questioned them.

Even though he was more than happy to finally be out of jail, he still needed to be careful around them. From their plain expression that didn’t hold any sort of emotions

"You are free Adrian. But you better watch your back. If we find you again, things aren’t going to end well for you," Edward threatened. Even though they had chosen to get him out of jail, they didn’t have any plans to make Adrain believe that they were no longer enemies. That thing that they’d just performed inside the station was just a show and they didn’t need to act like that with him. It was completely not necessary since the latter was cautious of them.

After hearing Edward’s threat, Adrian bursts out of laughter. "You know, I’m starting to think that you all have suddenly gone blind or perhaps gone dump because why the hell would you release me from jail and still threaten me like you still think that I’m the one who kidnapped Erika?" He asked.

None of the three men answered him. Instead, they glared hard at him, got inside their car, and drove off, leaving Adrian standing alone in confusion. He watched their car zoom off until it completely disappeared from his sight.

Standing in front of the police station alone, Adrain looked around him and watched the pedestrians who were casually walking, minding their own business, and the car that passed through the streets as he tried to understand what had just occurred.

Looking back at the station where he’d just spent the last two nights, Adrain suddenly yelled out loud, "I’m free!!!" Which ended up startling the pedestrians.

As Felix drove, Edward brought out his phone from his pocket and smiled triumphantly, "The tracker is on. Now all we have to do is connect it and follow all his moves."
