Chapter 243: SIMILAR

"So you were the one who left the gun for the officers to find?" He asked her despite knowing what her reply would be. Just as he expected, Erika didn’t reply to him. She only stared at him in silence which only made him more amused.

’I’m glad that the officers have finally found that gun. It won’t be long before I get out of here and this idiot won’t ask me to go with him,’ she thought to herself.

"Now regarding my offer," Viper brought up the same topic even though he’d already told himself to let her be and she would be the one to come to him instead but something told him that she would never do that. "You do know that I can just take you away from here now that Adrian is not around. This is the perfect opportunity to take you along with me but I’m giving you an option. Aren’t you glad that I’m giving you an option?" He asked her.

Erika had to bite her tongue to not utter the wrong thing and anger this man. Although he seemed persistent, she didn’t want to forget the fact that he was a dangerous man and could hurt her if he wanted. That was the last thing that she wanted to happen at that moment.

"Just like you’d said before, you are Adrian’s boss and you have power over him and you could certainly do that but you won’t," Erika stated. Even though she was not sure about what she was saying, she could only hope that she was right about it and this man wouldn’t kidnap her from her kidnapper. That would be a stupid thought to even begin with.

"And what makes you think that I won’t do it?" Viper asked with a raised eyebrow.

"If you’d wanted to do it, you would have done it a long time ago. And as for a reason why you haven’t done it yet," she paused for a second before she continued. "I don’t know."

Viper stared at her and no words could come out of his mouth. He was speechless. Suddenly, he received a text. Swiftly, he checked the message and kept the phone back into his pocket when he was done.

’I gave her the option of wanting to go with me so that it wouldn’t seem like I’m asking for her consent and she doesn’t think that’s why. Of course, I can take her along with me if I want but I don’t want her to hate me the same way she hates Adrian since he took her without her consent,’ he whines in his head. Of course, he wouldn’t spout words like that unless he wanted to embarrass himself.

"Excuse me, I need to excuse myself," he said and without wasting a second, he turned around and left the swimming pool area and went inside.

Confused, Erika stared at him until he entered the house. After he disappeared, she turned to fix her gaze on the water that settled on the deep four-squared well. Moving closer towards the edge of the swimming pool, Erika found her reflection as it stared back at her as if it were some mirror. A liquid mirror.

"Time has gone by," she mumbled under her breath as she touched her face. After releasing a sigh of relief, she intended to head back inside the house but immediately paused when she saw something on the chair that Viper had been sitting on earlier before he left.

"Is that his phone?" She reached for the phone and grabbed it. "Didn’t he just put it in his pocket?" She wondered. Without a second thought, Erika quickly opened the phone and the first thing that came on display was a picture of a woman who had very beautiful womanly features. The handsome two boys who stood by her side wore very happy smiles and then the man that she’d just been speaking with, Viper, had his arms around the waist of the woman as they smiled at the camera.

The image wasn’t what bothered Erika, rather, it was the face of the woman who looked exactly like her. "Who is this?" She wondered. The woman seemed to be the same age as her but seemed to be slightly older than her. The twin boys seemed like the happiest kids on earth as they bared their teeth at the camera with a smile that stretched to their chubby cheeks, trying to show the whole world that they were indeed happy.

"Could this be Viper’s wife?" She concluded with a smile. She’d never thought that Viper was a person who had a family because of the offer he always proposed to her on and on. Zooming closer to the woman who had an identical face like hers, just that the only thing that tore them apart was the black eyes difference. If it hadn’t been that, Erika would have possibly thought that her picture had been photoshopped to look like this.

"But where could they be?"

Remembering what she wanted to use the phone to do earlier, Erika quickly ignored the strange wallpaper and tried to unlock the phone. If it had been Adrian’s phone, then she would have had a slight chance of unlocking it but this was Viper’s phone, a man she barely knew anything about. How was she going to unlock his phone if she didn’t have a clue of what the first digit would be?

Erika hissed in annoyance as she imputed several digits one after the other. When she heard footsteps nearby, she immediately dropped the phone back where she’d found it earlier and pretended that she hadn’t taken it earlier.

"Viper arrived and found his phone exactly where he’d forgotten it, even in the same position. He’d hoped that Erika had taken it and found out about her look alike but it seemed she didn’t touch it one bit.

"Why are you sweating?" Erika heard him question and that was only when she realized that she’d been sweating.

Placing her palm on her forehead, Erika casually wiped the sweat off and replied, "It’s just a little hot today."
