Chapter 240: ENEMIES
Felicia dressed up and got ready to leave but was stopped by the bodyguards who said, "I’m sorry but boss Adrian had instructed not to let any of you step out of this place until he returns."
Felicia snorted. "And when is that going to happen? We haven’t seen him for three good days. When is he going to show up?" She questioned.
"We don’t know that mam but until he returns, you will have to stay here," the bodyguard replied.
Felicia scoffed before she got back inside the mansion with a scowl on her face. It’s been days now and Adrian still hasn’t returned. This was starting to bother her now.
"Where could he be?" She wondered out loud as her heels clicked on the floor while heading back inside. On the way, she bumped into Erika who seemed to be strolling around.
"Felicia, where are you going?" Erika asked the latter as she studied her dress. Noting that Felicia dressed rather moderately than she normally did whenever she went out, she commented, "Are you going to church?" With a tone filled with sarcasm.
Felicia had always dressed just like her personality—dirty and ugly so it was quite surprising to see her in jeans and shirt rather than a skimpy dress.
Finding Erika’s question offending, Felicia scoffed and questioned back, "And why would I go to church?"
"To cleanse your mind and soul since it’s so dirty," Erika replied with a smile stretched on her lips.
Felicia parted her lips to speak but paused since no words could come out. Having to stare at Erika’s face which was smiling at her irked her so much. She blamed Mr Lee for not giving her real acid so that she could destroy that face that haunted her every day.
"What are you thinking about? Do you want to pour another acid on me since you got scammed the first time?" Erika questioned as she tilted her head. "Or perhaps you are thinking of punching me," Erika added and suddenly she gasped and Felicia ended up flinching. "Do you have the guts to punch me, Felicia?" She asked with wide eyes.
"What are you doing here?" Felici asked after having had enough of Erika’s acting. She believed that their bumping wasn’t accidental at all.
Erika glanced around the place to make sure no one was looking before her eyes landed on Felicia. "I have something very important to say to you but we can’t talk here. Let’s go to your bedroom," Erika suggested.
Felicia sized Erika up as if she were some piece of trash and scoffed. "When did we start having some important talk, Erika? You and I are both enemies so we don’t have any important talk here," she said with a raised eyebrow.
She found it weird that Erika wanted to have some important talk with her. The whole thing was strange.
"You will find out once we go to your room. And believe me Felicia, you might regret it if you don’t listen to me," Erika spoke with a solemn expression that showed she was really serious about the matter.
Felicia released a sigh, refusing to let Erika into her bedroom and have an important talk with her.
After several seconds of contemplating, Felicia gestured with her hands forward and walked away without a word. Erika smirked from behind her before she worked the mechanism of the wheelchair, following behind Felicia.
—
Felicia welcomed Erika into her room with a smug expression. Now curious as to why Erika wanted to talk with her, Felicia quickly closed the door and waited for Erika to start speaking.
Sensing Felicia’s gaze on her, Erika cleared her throat and said.
"Just like you said earlier, you and I are both enemies but what I want to say to you is very important and you should listen to me."
A frown pulled up on Felicia’s face as she waited for Erika to continue.
"This is about Mary. I think she will start rebelling soon," Erika dropped the bomb.
"And why would she do that? What did I ever do to her?" Felicia asked as if she’d forgotten how she’d disregarded Mary the other day.
"Are you asking me that question?" Erika raised a brow at her. "She has already told Juliet about that incident too so very soon, she will start rebelling as well," she added.
Felicia stared at Erika for a few seconds and when the latter didn’t change her facial expression, Felicia scoffed.
"Why should I be bothered if they both rebel against me? They can’t possibly do anything to me," she believes, folding her arms on her chest with her chin raised high.
Erika stared at Felicia and could only wonder if the latter had always been like this. So rude but somewhat stupid. Did she first think that Mary wouldn’t rebel after she’d rained those insults on her?
"And why do you think that?" Erika questioned Mary. "Have you forgotten that you and Mary have a common situation?"
"What’s that?"
"You are both runaways. If she wants, she can call the police and have you sent back to jail," Erika replied but Felicia scoffed at her.
"Mary would never do such a thing to me because before she can even think of doing it, she will find herself in jail first," Felicia remarked with a smile on her face, totally unbothered by Erika’s words.
"You are underestimating her, Felicia," said Erika. "Let’s say, Mary isn’t able to do it, what about Juliet? She doesn’t have much to lose if she calls the police on you and have you jailed out of anger," she added.
Erika studied Felicia’s expression and when she saw the latter open her eyes widely in shock, she knew that Felicia would start plotting against that mother-and-daughter duo anytime soon.
Felicia stared at Erika and a question rose in her head, "Why are you telling me all this? We are both enemies but you are warning me about other enemies. What exactly are you up to?"
