Chapter 237: PSYCHO

In the hospital room where Ethan had been admitted, the same man whom Adrian had instructed to keep a watch on Ethan and his health developments quickly lowered his head as he watched as Daniel, Felix, and Edward entered the room and closed the door afterward.

Inside the room, Dave, Michael, and a female nurse were attending to Ethan, making sure he was recovering.

Once the doctor was done with his job, Ethan didn’t waste a single second before he asked,

"Doc, when am I going to get discharged? I’ve been in here for too long already"

"Your head injury is not completely closed and it’s not safe to discharge you at the moment. You are healing fast but not completely, Mr. Anderson so you will need to stay here for a few weeks before we can discharge you," Dave replied and left but not before prescribing some more medicines for him.

Turning to Michael who had been quiet since the check-up started and ended, Ethan questioned,

"I thought you said I could be released from here very soon? Why is that doctor telling me that I still need a few more weeks before I can get discharged."

Michael released a sigh before he replied, "I’m not the doctor who’s in charge of you Ethan, it’s Dave so if he says you need a few Monroe weeks to completely recover, then you need to listen to him."

"I don’t think I can wait for a few more weeks," Ethan replied with a solemn expression.

He faced the three men who’d just walked inside the room and could see the tiredness in their faces.

"Did you find anything?" He asked.

Daniel first found himself a seat and leaned on it before he replied, "We found a gun at the mansion that we believe that Adrian must have kept Erika so the police took him to the station for a fingerprint test."

"The first test didn’t match his fingerprint but we made him take another one so the results should be out soon," Edward added.

Ethan nodded in understanding but still couldn’t help but feel completely vulnerable at the moment.

"Let me come with you to the station when the result is out," he requested. He knew that the brothers cared about him so much and didn’t want anything to happen to him but they had done so much for him already and he needed to buckle up.

As if Felix had expected that question, he readied a "No," instantly. "You can’t go to the police station. You are still recovering," he added, deadpan.

"Didn’t you hear what the doctor just said? You need a few more weeks and you are thinking of going to the station?" Michael was the one to question him this time.

"I only want to assist, plus I want to see that jerk," Ethan replied. He didn’t want to feel useless anymore. He only wanted to help and speed things up despite knowing that he was still weak.

"It’s too dangerous, Ethan," said Edward. "You have a bullet in your head and we can’t risk having Adrian see you right now. Remember, they created fake news saying that you are already dead, and if you show yourself now, he will know that and will try to kill you again," he added. If only they knew that one of Adrian’s men was able to sneak inside the hospital and had already informed him about everything he’d found out.

Turning a deaf ear to all their concerns, Ethan said, "It’s only for a few minutes and I’m sure that Adrian won’t try to harm me in the police station."

Now, he could only hope that they would let him go with them.

After some careful thinking, Felix released a sigh before he replied. "You can come with us but we will be going there with some bodyguards." Noticing the questionable gaze he was receiving from the other men, he added, "It will be better if we go when the fingerprint result is out. And also, we will ask if the underground gambling has been figured out yet."

"But what if Adrian sees Ethan?" Daniel asked.

"Let’s just hope that Adrian will spill out something that he shouldn’t spill once he sees Ethan. And besides, Ethan is okay now. He’s better now than when he was just waking up," Felix convinced.

Michael was about to state something else but decided to keep quiet. He could feel his bothered Ethan was and he didn’t want to stop the man from seeing the one who kidnapped his girlfriend.

Soon after, they received a call from Mr Brown saying that the result had already come out.

Ethan dressed out of his hospital gown and wore some casual clothes. They walked out of the room without noticing the man in a male nurse uniform who watched them leave just as he watched them walk in.

Getting to the police station, Ethan suddenly felt a pang of headache hit him but he didn’t mention anything because once he did, they would quickly take a turn and send him back to the hospital.

Closing his eyes for a second, he tried to calm himself but the headache wouldn’t stop. Determined, he continued to walk without informing anyone about his sudden discomfort.

The guards made sure to follow behind them, and also keep a watch out and be very alert in case something happened.

Getting inside the police station, Ethan’s eyes first searched for Adrian and when he saw the latter being locked inside a cell, sleeping, he walked towards him and squatted down to his level.

Clenching his fist tightly, he wished he could just grab him by the next and snap his head while the latter was still in his sleep.

As if sensing the murderous gaze directed towards him, Adrian snapped his eyes open and there he was, his mortal enemy standing in front of him with a threatening glare that only made him widen his eyes more since he couldn’t believe that Ethan was right there.

"What are you doing here?" Adrian questioned Ethan.

Ethan couldn’t help but be perplexed when Adrian didn’t flinch even for the slightest bit when he’d seen him. The other men also didn’t fail in noticing this which had them look at themselves for a second before turning their attention back to where Ethan and Adrain were.

"I thought you were in the hospital recovering so that you can start looking for Erika. Shouldn’t you be there instead? It would be really bad if something were to happen to your brain," Adrian added with a sarcastic tone as he lifted himself up from the floor.

"How did you know that I was still alive?" Ethan asked without beating around the bush. The fact that Adrian knows that he’s still alive even after they have already faked the news about his death bothers him.

It was at that moment that Adrian wished he could go back to when he’d just seen Ethan and pretended to be surprised. He’d forgotten that they didn’t know about what he knew and this act of his would only make them more suspicious of him and would possibly interrogate their doctors and nurses.

"Wasn’t it obvious?" Adrian asked to cover up his slip of the tongue. He turned to the others and added, "There wasn’t a funeral held so, it was just a guess."

Ethan stared at him for a few seconds, not buying Adrian’s words even the slightest bit.

"I see, so you were waiting for a funeral to help so that you can come sit and my coffin being buried in the ground right?" Ethan questioned him with a raised eyebrow.

"Of course, you don’t expect me to not come and watch you being buried," Adrian replied with a chuckle in between. "But seeing you standing right here in front of me, I guess that you don’t want to recover properly." Taking a quick step toward Ethan, Adrian whispered the last words, "Or perhaps you want another bullet in your head? I don’t think you can take two of them." Then, he erupted with a load of laughter afterward as if he had just cracked the funniest joke in man’s existence.

Ethan didn’t move a budge. Instead, he watched as Adrian continued to laugh as a maniac until tears started to fall from his eyes.

When the latter had had his fill, he inhaled a large amount of air and exhaled.

Looking at Ethan who wasn’t the slightest amused by his actions irked him.

"It’s so nice to see you here Mr Anderson. I saw on the news that you were already dead but look at you, you don’t look like a dead person at all," said Adrian. "Instead, you seem to have only grown more handsome," he smiled with his eyes.

Stunned, Ethan could only conclude that Adrian had already lost his mind.

The others who watched him display his insanity also concluded the same thing. They knew that Adrian was a psycho but it seems to have gotten worse.

"Where is Erika?" Ethan asked when he had enough of Adrian and his stupidity. "Where did you put her?" He demanded. When Adrian did respond to him, he grabbed the latter by the neck and made sure to tighten his grip on him.
