Chapter 231: WHAT KIND OF DEAL?

"Shut up!" Mary demanded with a face, red from rage. "I can’t believe that I get to call you my daughter-in-law, you are so disgusting," she continued.

Felicia rolled her eyes in a way that delivered a message that she was already tired of the conversation. "If you are done barking like a dog here, then please let me know. Although, I don’t think that I will be here to wait for you till then."

With that, Felicia walked away but not before glaring at Erika who smirked at her.

Now it was only Erika, the maid, and Mary who were in the living room. Running her sweaty palm on her maid uniform, Iza tried to stay as quiet as possible to not draw any attention to herself since she just witnessed the fight that occurred before the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

Sensing Iza’s discomfort, Erika said to the girl, "You should get used to it because I sense that this wouldn’t be the last time that it would be happening again."

Erika didn’t bother to lower her voice and simply spouted out the words as if she wanted Mary to hear it.

"There is more to come," she added while staring intently at Mary.

After releasing a sigh, Mary also got ready to leave the scene but Erika stopped her. "Don’t tell me you are going to cry when you get to your bedroom Mary," she mocked.

Some tears brimmed in Mary’s eyes, making it known to whoever stared into her eyes to see that she was about to sob. But why would she cry over such a frivolous issue? Should she still be surprised by Felicia’s words and actions? Erika wondered with furrowed eyebrows directed towards Mary.

"You’d better keep quiet! You don’t know what happened," Mary retorted. She would be lying if she said that Felicia’s words didn’t hurt her but the last thing she wanted at that moment was to let Erika see through her.

"I’m sure I heard enough to know that Felicia, your perfect daughter-in-law, holds no regard towards you anymore. I mean look at the way she was talking to you, tsk tsk tsk. If it had been me when I was still your daughter-in-law, I’m sure that I wouldn’t have dared to speak to you like that but look," Erika continued with a mocking face as she sized Mary from head to toe. "You know, to think that she had been doing all these so many years ago, it just makes me wonder how you never got to find out about it till now and also, when it was revealed to the news, how come your precious daughter Juliet didn’t bother to tell you about it?" She added and instantly, she saw Mary’s widened eyes. "Maybe the both of them have been working together to turn you into a fool."

After hearing those words, Mary’s head snapped towards Erika as she gave her a look as if saying she wasn’t going to buy her words.

"Seriously now Mary, think about it. Juliet must have seen the news when she visited you in jail at some point but she didn’t tell you about it. Isn’t that enough for you to think that perhaps, the both of them could be conspiring against you?" When Mary didn’t respond to her, Erika suddenly gasped. "Maybe they have been planning to take you to jail. I’m sure Juliet is still mad at you for killing her grandmother." Then she laughed, making Mary feel even more embarrassed than she already was. "Do you perhaps think that your daughter had forgiven you for that? I’m sure she hasn’t," Erika added with an assured tone which neatly shattered Mary at that moment.

As long as I’m here, I will make sure that you people will fight, Erika thought to herself as she revealed a smirk.

Starting to think about Erika’s words, Mary didn’t want to do anything that Erika had just uttered.

Erika stared at Mary whose mind was no longer as she tried to understand everything.

"That’s impossible," Mary mumbled. "My daughter can’t go against me like that."

"Your daughter-in-law had already done that. What more for Juliet? I think you should reduce your expectation to zero," Erika mocked before adding. "Iza, let’s go. I think Mary would need some space to think about some things."

With that, Iza pulled Erika’s wheelchair and they also left there and left the whole room for Mary who couldn’t utter a word anymore.

"As much as I want to, I don’t want to believe in anything Erika said but what if everything she is saying is the truth? What if..." she trailed but she shook her head to ward away those thoughts. "It’s impossible. My daughter can’t do such a thing to me. I’m her mother. But what if..."

Erika arrived inside her room and instructed Iza, "You can leave me for now. If I need anything I will let you know." And Iza nodded in understanding before leaving the room.

Being alone in the room finally gave Erika the chance to think about the few words Viper had said to her while they were still outside.

"Whoever told you that must be lying to you," Erika concluded. She turned to face Viper and asked, "I’m sure it was Adrian who told you that right? That I’m happy here with him and that I want to be with him or perhaps, I still love him?" Viper didn’t reply but instead, let her continue. She was finally talking to him without restraint and he wanted to hear more of her words. "He’s a psycho and he proved that today," Erika added.

"Hmm..." Viper hummed, neither agreeing nor denying her words. "I do have a deal to propose to you if you want but I don’t know if you might want it."

Erika stared at him for a few seconds and couldn’t help but wonder what kind of deal he wanted to propose.

"What kind of deal?" She asked nonetheless.
