Chapter 229: THREAT
"Felicia," someone called. "What are you looking at?" Mary asked Felicia as she strode closer to her. When she leaned in, she saw Erika and the man who had been visiting Adrian in the former mansion. "Isn’t that Viper and Erika together?"
Mary looked down at Felicia’s clenched fist and could already guess that she was annoyed for some reason. "What’s wrong? You look annoyed."
"It’s Erika!" Felicia spat out as she glared at the two people from inside. Turning to look at Mary, she continued, "I tried to seduce Viper but he didn’t fall into my traps. I almost had him but he escaped and went to Erika. Is that fair? Why does she have to get every man that my eyes lay on?" She continued to rant and didn’t notice the look of disdain that she was receiving from Mary.
Mary couldn’t believe that Felicia already had her aim on another man, just like that. "Can’t you have a single shame even for once? Don’t you forget that I’m still your mother-in-law so you should learn how to speak in front of me," Mary reprimanded, taking Felicia by surprise.
Her face was stoic, indicating that she was very serious with her words. Thinking that Felicia would probably apologize, she heard her scoff and looked away before she faced her back with a face that didn’t show any kind of remorse.
"Am I the one you are talking to about shame Mary?" Felicia called Mary by her first name which took Mary by surprise. Felicia had always been respectful towards her even when they were in jail together which was why she felt glad that Felicia was her daughter-in-law. Unbeknownst to her, her daughter had been the talk of the city at some point.
Seeing Mary’s shocked face, Felicia smirked at her. "What? Are you shocked that I called you by your name Mary?" She repeated with a disrespectful tone. "You were talking about shame huh? Don’t you remember that you are a murderer?" She reminded Mary in case she had forgotten. "You murdered your best friend out of jealousy and your mother-in-law out of greed and here you are, preaching about shame to me. You are the one who doesn’t have any shame, Mary."
Baffled, Mary could only stare at Felicia. Her supposed daughter-in-law was talking back to her? What was she expecting when her daughter-in-law couldn’t even hide her disgusting habit of always talking about who to seduce? She had always thought that the both of them would always be allies but it was now obvious that they were no more.
"Don’t you dare talk to me like that, Felicia? I’m still your mother in...."
"You are still my mother-in-law," Felicia cuts Mary off. "Don’t worry. If you are ashamed of having someone like me as your daughter-in-law, then don’t worry. Me and Adrian will soon be getting our divorce annulled then I will move in with Ethan but before that," Felicia turned back to where Viper and Erika were and continued, "I need to have a piece of that man over there first before I leave. He seems tasty," she concluded as she smirked at Mary.
Mary placed her hands on her chest as if she was going to have a heart attack any time soon. Seeing this action, Felicia mocked, "Don’t die now, Mary. You still need to go to prison and die there. I don’t want your ghost to wander around here if you die here so just wait till when you get back to the prison." There wasn’t any sort of remorse when Felicia said those words. It was as if she had long disregarded Mary as her partner in crime.
The latter could only sigh helplessly. She had long thought of disregarding Felicia but she had a grandson and she cared for him.
"I wish you are caught even before you can succeed in your plans," said Mary.
Felicia chuckled. "If I’m caught, I will make sure that you are caught also. You see the way I was able to make the officers catch Laura? If you decide to disappoint me, I might just do the same thing to you."
"Are you threatening me?" Mary questioned Felicia. She couldn’t believe that Felicia had the guts to say all these words to her as if they never knew each other to begin with. It simply flabbergasted her to no bounds.
"Threaten? No Mary, I’m warning you," Felicia replied. To her, she had no use for Mary anymore so why would she keep an old woman by her side? To her imagination, after her surgery and getting inside the Anderson family, she wouldn’t need any sort of assistance from Mary so it would be better to toss the old woman now since it was still early.
"I can’t believe you have the mouth to say these words to me, Felicia. You seem to have forgotten that I was the one who helped you throughout your months of pregnancy...."
"And what do you want me to do about it? congratulate you? Or properly thank you?" Felicia asked Mary with a shot-up eyebrow. "I never asked for you to do any of those things so I don’t owe you anything. You know Mary, I have never liked the fact that we were laws, especially after the family’s downfall."
So she had only agreed to be the daughter-in-law of the Hart because of the money? Mary thought to herself.
If it had been in the past and someone had told her that Felicia would speak to her in such a way, she might have simply slapped them hard but now that she was witnessing it herself, she suddenly turned speechless.
"Stay out of my way Mary if you do not want to go back to jail. Because if you dare to offend me, I might just have to set you up, and off to prison you go. Adrian won’t be able to stop me because I’m sure that’s what he wants to happen also," Felicia threatened Mary.
