Chapter 220: TAKEN
"Where did that gunshot come from?" Adrian asked when he suddenly heard the sound of 4 gunshots.
"It seems to be coming from that other side boss," replied one of his men. Without wasting a second, they immediately rushed towards that direction. When he got there, he saw one of his men shot in the leg while the other was dead. Then he saw Erika with a bleeding leg and his face burned even more with anger.
"Which one of you was the one who shot Erika?!" He demanded with flaring eyes.
"It was me, boss but I only did it.....bang!" The man didn’t get to finish his sentence before Adrian pulled the trigger and shot him and he died on the spot.
"No one gets to hurt my Erika!" He said and his possessive words only made Erika feel even more regretful for her actions earlier. She wouldn’t have been here, surrounded by these people she tried to escape from if she had just been more careful.
The lifeless body of the bodyguard laid cold on the ground and his colleagues could only feel sorry for him.
Turning towards Erika, Adrian squatted down to her level and attempted cupping her cheeks but she quickly moved her head away.
"Are you okay?" He asked her with a tone full of worry. "You have the guts to escape don’t you Erika?" He added when she didn’t respond to him. "Guess the people who are outside of this jungle now."
Erika, who was trying to crawl away from Adrian with her shot, wondered whom he was talking about.
"Felix and Daniel are both here but they won’t be able to find you, unfortunately. Yes, they are only half a mile away from here," he laughed like a maniac.
When Erika heard him, she quickly turned her head to face the direction that Adrian had just come out from.
"FELIX!!" she screamed at the top of her lungs but her mouth was immediately covered by Adrian.
"Don’t you dare," he warned. "You want to be with them so badly huh? Too bad I can’t let you, Erika. You belong here with me and I won’t let you out of my sight again."
Erika’s heartbeat quickened at the thought that her brothers were outside of this jungle. She was only half a mile away from them. She was so close yet so far away from them. They must be the people that Adrian was talking about, she thought.
"And even if you want to continue to yell, they wouldn’t be able to hear you," Adrian added with a smirk.
Feeling her heart shatter at that thought, Erika unknowingly shed some tears, and they ended up falling on Adrian’s hand.
"Please let me go, Adrian," she begged. "If you are worried that I might reveal this place then I won’t. I just want to be back together with my family."
"Family?" Adrian pretended to be oblivious to what Erika meant. "You don’t need to be with that family because I’m here. We are family. I am your family and you are mine. You only need to be with me."
’You’ve lost it,’ Erika thought to herself as she continued to shed more tears. She stared back in that direction and wished that someone would just come out and save her from this psycho ex-husband of hers, but unfortunately, no one did.
"Take her back to the mansion," Adrian ordered and the men obeyed. One lifted her to his shoulder while the other cleared the path for him.
Once Erika was gone, Adrian clicked his tongue in annoyance. "Now I have those other people to get rid of," he grumbled.
"But boss, if we kill them now, it’s only going to make things even harder for you now," said the man who had witnessed Erika shoot his colleague in front of him.
"What do you mean?" Adrian questioned.
Clearing his throat, the man spoke carefully, not wanting to be shot like his other colleague had been by Adrian,
"I think that if you kill them, then you will have both the Anderson and the Walters family against you."
"They are already against me since they know that I’m the one who kidnapped Erika," Adrian replied nonchalantly. And without waiting for the man to speak again, he walked towards the direction where the relatives of Erika were.
After running for a few minutes, they arrived.
"Shit! Why are the police here?" Adrian cursed when he saw the cop car.
"I think they were the ones who called the police," replied one of the men.
"This place isn’t safe anymore."

"I’m sorry for arriving late Mr Walters," Mr Brown apologized. "There was traffic on the way and we had no idea that it would take this long to get here."
"That’s alright. We followed Adrian the day you decided to let him go and we saw him pass this route," said Felix. "We arrived here last night but since it was already late, we couldn’t get to see which path he took from around here. We ended up losing him."
"I see. Are you sure that you saw him take this path?" Mr Brown asked and Felix nodded. Mr Brown gestures for the two police officers who came along with him to come forward. "I want you to inform the other police officers to start a search around this place. Also, keep an eye in case Adrian Hart passes here," he ordered and the officers saluted in unison. Facing the three men, Mr. Brown said, "You can rest assured now that we will keep a watch out for Adrian Hart. If he’s the one who kidnapped Erika Walters, then we will find him and have him punished for his crimes," he promised.
"I hope so," Daniel mumbled as he stared at the huge jungle. This was a very dangerous place and he wasn’t sure if Erika was around here or not. He could only hope that they find her quickly.
