Chapter 193: PARTNERS
Some days passed, and the search for Erika continued. The expert hackers that Edward called arrived and were now working to find out the identity of the owner of the club.
Since there were many, they couldn’t stay in Ethan’s hospital room and search so they decided to stay at the Andersons mansion.
"Have you found anything yet?" Edward asked his men who were typing as fast as they could. After releasing an endless sigh, he went to stay behind one of them and watch what they were doing.
"The code is quite hard to break sir, the hacker explained as he continued to type.
It was the same issue that Edward had encountered when he was trying it himself. He turned to face Felix and remarked,
"You see, I’m not the only one who finds it hard."
Felix responded to his comment by rolling his eyes at him before looking away. This wasn’t the time to fight so he let it pass.
"I’ve unlocked the code," one of the men announced suddenly, grabbing everyone’s attention to him. The man immediately gathered around his computer to look at the image. "This is the owner of the club Midnight Mirage."
Felix and Daniel glared into the computer when they realized it was the same man they had seen going into the club, wearing the red suit.
"That was the same man we saw the other day we went to the club," said Daniel.
"Is that so?" Edward asked as he rubbed his chin, trying to put two and two together. He recalled when Felix told him Adrian didn’t own anything but he’s suddenly acquainted with the owner of a club that runs an underground business. "If the owner of the club and Adrian were going into the club together, that only means they are partners. I don’t want to believe that he’s just a customer or an acquaintance. Both of them are definitely into this together."
Felix gave some thought to what Edward said before adding,
"It could be that he’s using his power to do all these. Wait first, research this Viper Jones."
Without the need to be told twice, the hacker who was able to unlock the code and discover Viper’s identity started typing again.
"Will the identity of a man like that be up on the internet if he’s trying to hide it in the first place," Daniel asked confusedly.
"I just want to see something," Felix replied.
Viper’s biography was displayed on the computer and the information was different from the one they had seen earlier.
"He’s a travel agent too?" asked Daniel, even more confused. "Could this be his...."
He didn’t get to finish his sentence and Felix completed it for him, "His cover? Yes, I think so too. In the day, he works as a travel agent, and at night, he’s a gambling boss."
Edward added, "So now we know that Adrian and Viper are working together, let’s go inform Ethan now and plan on our next move." He grabbed his car keys and intended to leave the mansion but Felix stopped him.
"Wait, Ethan still hasn’t recovered yet so let’s keep this a secret between us. If we tell him now, he will forget about his injury and will want to join us, which isn’t good for his health at all," he explained. If they were to inform Ethan about what they had just discovered, then the latter would spring out of bed and would want to join them.
"I understand," Edward agreed.
"Wait, if we are all here, who’s looking after Ethan in the hospital?" Daniel asked.
"It’s Michael," Felix answered as Daniel nodded.
**
In the hospital room, Michael had just entered the room to find Ethan’s eyes open. "Aren’t you going to sleep? It’s already late," he asked him.
Ethan closed his eyes for a bit before turning to look at Michael. "How can I sleep when Erika is still missing?" He asked him back. "Seriously, I’ve been in this hospital for close to two weeks now, when will I be discharged already?" he added with a bit of a tone of frustration.
Michael signed before he responded, "You will be discharged but for that to happen, your head injury still needs to be closed. It’s not completely closed and you know that." When he noticed Ethan glaring at him, he asked, "What?"
"Where are Felix and Edward?"
"They are at home, trying to find the owner of the club Adrian goes to," Michael responded before walking towards the IV drop to see if it was dropping normally.
Hearing Adrian’s name made his blood boil but he would need to endure it until he recovers and can fight again.
"I’ve already injected some sedative into the IV drop, that should help with your sleep and headache," said Michael, and Ethan nodded in response.
Michael turned off the lights and left the room.
—
At the lobby of the hospital, a male nurse pulled the chairs of an old granny and went into the elevator. "Which floor is it?" he questioned the shivering old woman who was scared for her life.
"I-it’s the h-highest f-floor," she stuttered as tears rolled down from her eyes.
The male nurse pressed the highest button on the elevator and the elevator started moving. The old woman didn’t dare to utter anything until it dinged open and the male nurse pushed the wheelchair out of there.
"Where is your room?" The male nurse asked her and she pointed it out. "Ethan Anderson’s room?" He asked. With shaky hands, the woman pointed at the fifth room, by the right-hand side.
The male nurse didn’t say anything but continued to push the wheelchair, carefully avoiding the cameras until he arrived at the woman’s room. He pushed it open, got inside, and closed the door.
"Stay here and don’t you dare say anything. If you do, I’m going to blow your brains out," he threatened the woman. With muffled cries, the old woman closed her mouth and nodded her head repeatedly.
