Chapter 128: MAKE IT HAPPEN

"Don’t you ever lecture me, woman? I will get both Ethan and Jasmine married to each other when the time is right", he spat in her ears, as if wanting the words to zinc in. "Neither you nor those Andersons would do anything to stop me, do you understand?" He demanded.

Even though Mrs. Davis didn’t understand her husband’s intention, she nodded her head nevertheless so that he could finally let go of her hair.

"Good", he said. "Now make sure to invite Ethan to the mansion as much as possible and make sure that the two of them get along, do you hear me?" he demanded and she nodded her head in response. Mr Davis pulled her hair hard one last time before throwing her on the bed.

The next day, Mrs. Anderson visited the Davis mansion with Ethan as per Mrs. Davis’s request so that the children could get to know each other more.

"Please come in", Mrs. Anderson welcomed the mother and son. "Wait here, let me go call Jasmine okay?" She said to both of them.

Mrs. Davis ordered the servants to bring Ethan some cookies and yogurt to munch on before entering Jasmine’s room.

"Jasmine, your new friend is here", Mrs Davis tried to wake Jasmine up but the little girl slept like a log. "Jasmine", Mr. Davis called as she tried to shake her daughter awake. After several minutes passed, Jasmine’s eyelids finally moved.

"Yes mummy", her voice still a little groggy since she was just waking up.

"Your new friend is here, come on let’s go", she said as she carried her daughter out of the room.

In the living room, Ethan was done munching on his cookies as he waited for his new friend.

Mrs. Davis walked in apologizing, "I’m so sorry that it took so long before I could bring her".

"No, it’s okay," Mrs Anderson replied.

Mrs. Davis helped Jasmine to step her two feet on the floor before saying, "Go say hi to your new friend", as she pointed at Ethan who was sizing her up with his eyes.

’This is the girl they say I should marry’, he thought to himself. ’No way, she is too ugly,’ he concluded.

Jasmine took slow steps towards Ethan as his eyes moved from one place to another until she reached him.

"Hi, am Jasmine", she introduced herself as she stretched forward her hands for a handshake, "What is your name?"

"I’m Ethan’’, his words were curt and distant and the two women noticed it but decided to brush it off. Jasmine’s hand was still stretched out, waiting for the handshake like the ones she had seen her dad do with the other businessmen.

"Ethan, shake her hand", his mother urged him. Sighing, Ethan stretched out his hand and they shook hands. "Now that they have introduced themselves, I think it’s time for me to leave. I have to go get the ingredients for my new recipe," said Mr Anderson as she got up from the couch. "Ethan, don’t trouble your aunty, and don’t bully Jasmine, okay?" she warned and the boy nodded his head obediently.

"See you later", Mrs. Davis waved her friend goodbye.

Turning back to the children, one held a plain expression, as if not wanting to speak or be spoken to, while the other just stared at the first one, waiting for him to speak.

"Ethan, why don’t you and Jasmine go to the playground", said Mr Davis.

Even glanced at Jasmine whose head was tilted as she examined him with her big doe eyes.

"Maya," Mrs Davis called one of the servants. "Come take the kids to the playground so that they can play".

The servant named Maya did as she was told. She took the kids to the playground where some of Jasmine’s toys had been laid.

After they arrived, Maya left the two kids alone to play with each other.

Jasmine ran towards her swing and sat down but her legs weren’t long enough to touch the ground. "Ethan, can you please push me?" she pleaded.

Ethan released another sigh before walking to the swing and he pushed it.

"Yay", little Jasmine cheered happily. "Thank you", she thanked him and he replied by nodding. "Do you talk?"

"Only when necessary", he replied.

"Since we are friends now, you can talk to me", she offered and he only stared at her.

The both of them played around, mostly Jasmine who kept on asking Ethan to push her until Mr Davis arrived.

He entered the playground and saw the two kids hanging out together and a mischievous smile appeared on his face.

Later in the evening, Mrs. Anderson came to pick up Ethan and both the kids waved each other goodbye.

"So Jasmine," Mr Davis called his daughter. "Tell your daddy something, do you like Ethan?" he asked her and she replied by shrugging.

"I don’t know Daddy, he doesn’t talk much", she answered. "But he is nice, he helped me push the swing several times when I couldn’t do it", she added.

"That’s nice and do you want to know what he told me?" He asked her.

"What?" She asked with curiosity in her eyes.

"He said that he likes you", he lied.

"What?" she gasped.

"That’s right, and one day, you are going to be the daughter-in-law of the Andersons when you grow up," he tapped her nose and added, "You are going to be Ethan’s wife, don’t you want that?"

"I do want that", she instantly replied. "So we will be like husband and wife? Just like you and mummy?" she asked her father and he nodded.

"But if you want to be in that family, you are going to have to keep this a secret between the both of us and not share it with anyone, not even with Ethan, do you hear me?" He asked her and she nodded vigorously. "That’s good", he patted her head.

Mrs. Davis entered the living room and heard all that her husband was telling their daughter. "Jasper," she called him.

"What is it?" he snapped as he turned to face her with a glare.

The woman took a deep breath before she replied, "I think that you should stop with all these. What if they don’t end up with each other later?"

"I will make it happen", he replied.
