Chapter 154: Chapter 131: The Essence of Contamination! Radiation Filter
The Two-headed Scale People’s gaze wasn’t frenzied. Its two heads, one left and one right, stared directly into Chu Bamboo’s eyes. Chu Bamboo could sense that it was thinking.
"What’s going on today?" its left head suddenly asked, speaking in pure Dream Language.
The right head seamlessly continued, "If I remember correctly, you guys aren’t supposed to show up for a long while yet, right? And why are you alone?"
The left head spoke again. "Also, what are you waiting for now?"
"That’s right, that’s right," the right head glanced at the left and chattered on. "Hurry up and deal with those dying things! Take the Radiant Stones from their bodies, grab the Fushui, and get lost... The sight of you people is getting on my nerves... Huh? Why aren’t you moving? Aren’t you afraid of contamination?"
Evidently, both heads were confused.
"?!" On the surface, Chu Bamboo’s expression remained unchanged, but inside, his mind felt like it had just exploded.
It was only a few sentences, but the amount of information they revealed was immense—staggeringly so.
He murmured to himself, ’Radiant Stone... so that’s how it is! Fushui is the blood... and the Radiant Stone, if they’re taking it from inside the body, must be some kind of organ, or maybe a solid mass that formed within the monster?’
’This... this is just...’
Chu Bamboo forced himself to calm down. He had actually seen the white blood flow from the monsters’ bodies and gather in the distance, seemingly drawn by some Extraordinary Power. Back then, he had already made a rough guess about the Radiant Stones’ origin.
But a guess was just a guess. Having it confirmed by the prisoner made him feel incredibly conflicted.
Chu Bamboo rubbed his cheeks, forcing the chaotic thoughts from his mind.
He didn’t engage with the Two-headed Scale People. Instead, with a grim expression, he scanned his surroundings and quickly locked onto a monster that was half-dead and barely breathing.
Without a moment’s hesitation, he walked toward it.
"ROAR!" The moment Chu Bamboo drew near, the creature—which had seemed on the verge of death—thrashed violently. The chains binding it snapped taut. Saliva dripped from its mouth, spattering onto the metal floor with a faint sizzling sound.
However, it was bound too tightly. No matter how much it struggled, the movement of its limbs was severely restricted. The effort only tore its wounds open wider, and more blood spilled out.
Chu Bamboo quickly assessed the difference in their strength and immediately backed away, heading toward another dying monster instead.
He had a feeling that even in its weakened state, if that thing landed a blow on him, he would still get hurt.
Chu Bamboo was very clear about his goal. He was here to break through to the First Realm of Cultivation, not to pick a fight or prove his strength.
When possible, it was always best to defeat an enemy without taking any damage.
After a few moments of silence.
"Kid, you’re not one of those Flying Fish Suit People, are you?" the left head of the Two-headed Scale People spoke again. Although phrased as a question, its tone was certain, all four of its eyes blazing. "You snuck in here from who-knows-where, didn’t you?"
The right head added, "If you were really one of the Flying Fish Suits, you wouldn’t have come so soon! It takes a long time for a large batch of the uncontrolled to die off. The Flying Fish Suit People don’t kill the ones that are still alive! They just wait for the contamination to completely erode them. That’s the only way to ensure the uncontrolled condense the largest possible Radiation Stone Cores!"
The two heads glanced at each other and then spoke almost in unison: "Kid, how about we make a deal?"
Chu Bamboo paid them no mind. He grabbed a monster’s head with both hands and, with a vicious twist, wrenched it clean off. Then he drew a dagger from his waist and, his expression unchanged, began to dissect the corpse.
’The Radiant Stone is inside the body... but where inside?!’
"Cutting open the chest is useless! You have to cut the head," the left head of the Two-headed Scale People called out.
Chu Bamboo’s movements faltered. He shot the Two-headed Scale People a deadpan glance, then yanked his dagger out, plunged it into the monster’s eye socket, and began to cut forcefully.
A moment later, he fished a pale-golden stone out from the white brain matter.
Ignoring the filth, Chu Bamboo sat down cross-legged, pressed the small stone to his forehead, and began circulating the Basic Immortal Cultivation Technique.
The next instant, he clearly felt a faint, warm current spread from the point between his eyebrows, through his entire brain, and finally into the rest of his body.
A few breaths later, the warmth turned into excruciating pain. It was like falling from Heaven into Hell.
Chu Bamboo’s expression didn’t change in the slightest. It hurt, sure, but compared to the pain he had felt last time—when he had jumped directly into a nuclear reaction pool—it was nothing.
’If the pain he’d felt then was a Level 8, on par with childbirth, then this was a Level 5 at best—like cutting your hand or a bad cartilage injury.’
The only slight inconvenience was that the pain was constant; it seemed it wouldn’t let up unless he stopped his Cultivation. This was preventing him from focusing completely on his Cultivation.
"You’ll die if you keep that up! You should listen to my advice... even if you have to cultivate, do it up on the high platform!" the right head of the Two-headed Scale People offered, its tone surprisingly well-intentioned. Even though Chu Bamboo hadn’t uttered a single word, the creature had basically determined from his actions that he was nothing like the Flying Fish Suit People.
The Flying Fish Suit People would certainly never save it, but there was a minuscule chance Chu Bamboo might. At a time like this, threats, bribes, and mockery were completely pointless.
