Chapter 79: Chapter 79: Making an Enemy
Peng Yu wouldn’t give up. He moved forward to grab her again, muttering, "No one’s ever disrespected me like this. I’m just asking you to a meal, not trying to eat you alive!"
Seeing him advance, Zhao Xiangjun quickly dodged to the side again while saying, "Get away from me!"
Humiliated and enraged, Peng Yu was determined not to stop until he caught her. Just as he was about to lunge forward again, a powerful force struck him from behind. He felt his waist tighten, and then he fell flat on his face!
He got up, adjusted his glasses, and was momentarily stunned. Then he realized he’d been attacked. Turning around, he saw Zhao Hui glaring at him furiously.
He roared, "Why did you kick me?"
He glanced around and saw no mall staff nearby. Then he looked at Zhao Hui’s strong and powerful build, and his bluster faltered.
If word got out that a regional director like him had been made to look so pathetic, it would be a huge embarrassment!
Zhao Hui snorted coldly. "Why were you getting physical with her?"
When Zhao Xiangjun saw it was her brother, she felt a little relieved. She wasn’t worried about what Peng Yu could do to Zhao Hui. One was young and strong, the other old and frail—they weren’t in the same weight class.
Just then, some delivery staff heading to the back warehouse saw Zhao Hui and asked, "Supervisor, is something wrong?"
Zhao Hui waved his hand to signal that everything was fine, telling them to go about their business.
Peng Yu saw all this and said grimly, "You’re with Yino Company?"
Zhao Hui replied, "Zhao Hui, from Yino Company’s logistics department. Whatever you want to do, I’ll play along."
"Good. Good!" Peng Yu let out a grim laugh, repeating the word several times, clearly furious.
"Young man, you’re certainly rash. Don’t you know that impulsive actions have impulsive consequences?"
Zhao Hui, who used to get into fights all the time, wasn’t one to back down verbally. "I’m not a fan of ’Impulsive Consequences.’ I prefer ’Why Are the Flowers So Red?’"
"Fine. You’ve got guts. Just you wait! The retail circle in Hanjiang Province isn’t big enough for someone as awesome as you!"
With that, he decided that a wise man doesn’t fight a losing battle and left. If he didn’t go, he was afraid Zhao Hui might go crazy and beat him up, and he’d have taken a beating for nothing.
Besides, it was humiliating. If word of this spread through their circle, how could he, Peng Yu, possibly survive in the Jiangzhou Business District?
A few of the store clerks witnessed the entire thing from the side but didn’t step forward. After all, Zhao Hui was from corporate and outranked them. He was handling the situation, so it wasn’t their place to interfere.
After Peng Yu left, Zhao Hui asked, "Who was that guy? So full of himself. He acts like he owns the entire retail scene in Hanjiang Province!"
The store manager replied, "Sir, that was the regional director of Wansheng Square."
Although Zhao Hui was new to this circle and didn’t have a strong grasp of what a "regional director" was, he knew it wasn’t someone ordinary. A wave of nervous fear washed over him, but then he remembered the man bullying his sister, and his blood boiled again.
’If he had to do it all over again, he’d probably have been even rougher. Damn it, you mess with my sister, I don’t give a damn if you’re some regional director—I’ll still screw you up!’
Once his wild side took over, he stopped caring about the consequences. Besides, everything he had today was because of his sister. If he really lost it all, so be it.
Zhao Xiangjun didn’t want the store staff to know her brother worked for the company, so the two didn’t openly acknowledge each other. Zhao Hui found a chance to whisper to Zhao Xiangjun, "Sis, don’t worry. If something really happens, we can just quit. It’s not a big deal."
Zhao Xiangjun shook her head. "It won’t come to that. Just do your job well."
’I’m a major shareholder of Yino now,’ she thought. ’No matter how resourceful Peng Yu is, his influence within Yino Group can’t possibly be greater than mine. The CEO himself called me respectfully at noon, wanting to set up a meeting.’
What annoyed her was Peng Yu’s temperament. Plenty of customers asked for her contact information, but after being rejected, most of them would at least maintain a basic level of decorum, muttering a few words at most.
This was the first time someone had resorted to physical force. She was annoyed because this meant she wouldn’t have any peace from now on.
Peng Yu, indeed, had no intention of letting this go. After being kicked by Zhao Hui, he had lost all face.
As Wansheng Square was the largest commercial complex in Hanjiang Province, Peng Yu enjoyed a great deal of prestige.
It was difficult for the heads of many retail companies to even schedule a meeting with him. He wouldn’t even see brand managers unless they were from a truly top-tier brand.
Although Yino Group was developing quite well, a brand like theirs was still beneath his notice.
Normally, it was very difficult for Liu Haoran to get a meeting with Peng Yu. At most, Peng Yu’s regional vice president would meet with him, and even then, they would always act condescendingly.
Peng Yu returned to his office and summoned Li Chun, the regional vice president of business development.
"President Li, contact Yino’s regional general manager and tell him to come to my office this afternoon."
He didn’t even call Liu Haoran himself. In Jiangzhou, brand representatives like that weren’t worthy of his attention. He only gave consideration to regional heads of top-tier brands.
Liu Haoran’s eyelid had been twitching all day, and he couldn’t tell if the old folk saying was true—whether a twitching eye meant fortune or disaster.
When he received the call from Wansheng Square’s VP of Business Development, Li Chun, he was finally sure it was twitching for fortune!
The man on the other end said that President Peng was inviting him to his office for tea and a chat that afternoon. This was the big boss of his client company, a man he had tried and failed to schedule a meeting with several times before.
He immediately instructed his assistant to have the driver prepare the car. They would leave a little early; he absolutely could not be late for a meeting with President Peng.
On his way downstairs, he happened to see Zhao Hui returning from outside.
Zhao Hui, feeling a little guilty, timidly greeted him, "President Liu!"
Liu Haoran saw him too and immediately broke into a warm smile. "Ah Hui, how are things? Are you settling in okay? If you run into any trouble, come find me anytime!"
Zhao Hui felt a sense of warmth, thinking, ’President Liu is pretty good to me!’ The thought put him a little more at ease.
Liu Haoran was in a hurry to get out, so he didn’t stop to chat, quickly getting into the company’s GL8 business van.
Led by the receptionist into Peng Yu’s office, he saw Peng Yu approaching with a hearty smile, graciously extending his hand for a shake.
Liu Haoran was a bit overwhelmed by the flattering reception. There was a rumor that had circulated in the industry for a while.
It was said that at business banquets, you couldn’t even get in line to toast Peng Yu; the man supposedly kept a ten-meter distance from strangers.
The story was an exaggeration, but it showed Peng Yu’s status in the Jiangzhou Business District.
Although he, Liu Haoran, was the general manager of Yino’s Jiangzhou region, there were countless vendor managers like him in Jiangzhou, and all of them had to rely on their clients to make a living.
The two exchanged a few pleasantries and took their seats.
Peng Yu cordially inquired about the business performance of the "Yi Rui" brand. Yi Rui was Yino Group’s main brand; the group had several other sub-brands, but their market scale was much smaller.
Yi Rui had partnered with Wansheng Square on eight stores in Hanjiang, six of which were profitable and two of which were losing money. Overall, business was trending in the right direction.
So, Liu Haoran also wanted to take this opportunity to discuss the possibility of deeper collaboration with Wansheng Square.
He gave an overview of the company’s current overall performance and their development strategy moving forward. Peng Yu listened very attentively.
