“Meteor, you’re really getting engaged.”

Why hadn’t I thought of that?

On my way back after greeting Meteor in the garden, I tilted my head, pondering the game’s original storyline.

Was there ever a mention of Meteor getting engaged or married in the original game?

I dug through my memories, but nothing came to mind.

It seemed like such an unimportant detail that it was never included in the game’s narrative.

So naturally, I hadn’t considered Meteor’s potential marriage, either.

“Hmm. Right. It would be strange if he didn’t get married. But still, Meteor getting married... why does that feel so out of place?”

The idea of Meteor committing to someone as their partner felt odd.

Probably because, in the original game, he was wholly dedicated to purging the Demon Realm and had no time for romance.

But, objectively speaking, this engagement was a joyous occasion. It lifted my mood a little.

Sienna seems like such a bright and cheerful person, too. That’s a relief. Of course, since Rearwin personally selected her, she’s bound to be a perfect match for Meteor.

Absolutely.

When news of their engagement spread throughout the empire, everyone would surely shower them with blessings.

Despite the world being overrun by Magi, I genuinely felt happy for Meteor, believing this would bring him even more joy.

“This is great. Just perfect.”

Grinning for no apparent reason, I changed into my nightgown and threw a cozy shawl over it.

I was just about to head to my bedroom when—

Ding!

[‘Dragon Slayer Sylvester’ asks if you’re genuinely happy about Meteor’s engagement.]

Of course, I am. What else would I be?

[‘From Maid to Saintess—Astina’ asks, “Then what about the time you and Meteor held hands and embraced in the Demon Realm?”]

...?

What in the world was she bringing that up for?

Scratching under my nose in exasperation, I muttered to myself.

“That was just to keep me from freezing to death, okay? Nothing more, nothing less.”

[‘From Maid to Saintess—Astina’ is disappointed.]

“...”

I was the one disappointed here.

Meteor and I were legal siblings.

What exactly were they expecting?

Besides, Meteor was about to be engaged to one of the empire’s most admired noblewomen.

“Wake up, people. Go read a romance novel instead.”

Shaking my head, I left the dressing room.

The system window kept flashing “disappointed” over and over, but I ignored it as I stepped into my bedroom.

And nearly screamed.

I didn’t, though.

Instead, I froze, my breath caught in my throat.

When you’re truly startled, it seems you can’t even make a sound.

The curtains fluttered, and someone sat perched on the windowsill.

A man with an unnervingly perfect face.

But he was the last person I wanted to see.

Barely catching my breath, I hissed in a low voice.

“How did you get in here? And how do you even know where my room is—!”

“How could I call myself a demon if I didn’t?”

“Do you even know who lives here? I’ll call Meteor, the Cardinal, and the Bishop right this—”

“Go ahead. But if they find out why I’m here, they’ll learn your true identity, too.”

“...”

My lips clamped shut.

Of course, he knew.

I’d suspected as much. That’s why, even when he infiltrated the Holy Palace, I hadn’t told anyone.

Revealing his presence would’ve been the same as announcing that I was the Demon King’s daughter.

Not to mention, his resemblance to Meteor made it dangerous to draw attention to him.

I glared at the Duke of Dimensions with undisguised displeasure.

After a moment, I shifted tactics, forcing a more composed expression.

“How’s my dad doing? His birthday was just the other day....”

At this, Prima’s eyes crinkled in amusement as he stepped off the windowsill.

He strolled toward me, and as the distance between us closed, I had to tilt my head back to meet his gaze.

He was a full head taller than Meteor, making me feel like I was facing an older version of him. It was unnerving.

When he stopped a reasonable distance away—close enough but not too near—I felt relieved.

Had he come any closer, I would’ve shoved him back with a blade.

“The Demon King is busy exchanging blows with all kinds of challengers. Recently, he’s been enduring some rather creative torture. You should’ve seen it.”

“Torture? What kind of torture?”

Was it physical pain?

That body may belong to the Demon King, but it’s still my dad’s body!

My chest tightened at the thought of him being hurt.

“If you’re curious, why not visit the Demon Realm and see for yourself? It’s quite the spectacle.”

“What kind of torture? Is my dad hurt?”

“Worried about your father, are you?”

His tone turned softer, almost mocking, as he took another step closer.

I shot him the fiercest glare I could muster.

He might’ve been hunting for a moment of weakness, but I wasn’t about to give him one.

Though my heart was on edge, I outwardly maintained my calm.

“No. I’m not worried. I’m sure my dad’s found a way to make it work. Even if it’s the Demon King’s body, he’d only find ways to hurt the Demon King. My dad’s a genius, after all.”

Prima chuckled darkly.

“What a touching father-daughter bond.”

Now standing uncomfortably close, Prima’s presence was suffocating.

It wasn’t just his proximity—it was his uncanny resemblance to Meteor that unsettled me.

“A bond worth protecting. If you want, I could help you save Lloyd Delight.”

“...What?”

The absurdity of his statement hit me like a slap.

Was he joking?

“You come here to kill me, then offer to help save my father? Do you think I’m an idiot?”

“Sometimes, being foolish is better.”

His gaze sharpened, his words laced with meaning.

What kind of trick was this?

If Prima wanted to kill me, he had the power to do it instantly. There was no need for deception.

So why was he offering this?

Was this some elaborate ploy of the Demon King’s?

Maybe it was meant to amuse him—playing games with me and my father.

The thought made me laugh bitterly.

“Alright, let’s say, just for argument’s sake, that I accept your help. What exactly would you do?”

I took a step forward.

Just one step, but even that felt too close given who I was dealing with.

Prima tilted his head slightly, his Meteor-like face more visible up close.

“Start by trusting me.”

“That’s a tall order.”

I smirked, my voice dripping with sarcasm.

A holy knight trusting a demon? Even demons would laugh at that.

“Would you trust me if the roles were reversed?”

Bang!

Before he could reply, I aimed and fired my enchanted gun, Eun-chongi, straight at his side.

It was the quickest, most silent attack I could manage—one I thought no one could predict.

But before I even pulled the trigger, Prima had already stepped back.

It was just like a week ago.

He moved as though he knew my attack was coming.

He dodged? He actually dodged that?

Frustration boiled within me.

“Damn demon bastard!”

“Thanks for the welcome fireworks, Crescent.”

Despite my murderous glare, Prima smiled with irritating ease.

“Next time we meet, I hope you’ll be ready to trust me.”

“Hey!”

And just like that, the demon vanished before I could get another word in.
