Chapter 366: Chapter 365: Details
Ren Zhirou was the princess of the Celestial Dragon Empire, but a princess was just a princess; a Goddess was something else entirely. "Goddess" was a title reserved for one who became the ruler of an Empire. Empress was another acceptable term.
CLACK!
One hundred Spirit Stones landed on the table with a clatter, stunning the few chatting Cultivators. They immediately looked up at Yi Tianyun, their expressions puzzled.
"Tell me everything you know," Yi Tianyun said calmly. "Whoever does gets these hundred Spirit Stones."
"Tell... tell you what?" They gulped as they stared at the hundred Spirit Stones. While not a large sum, it was money all the same.
"Who knows what’s going on in the Empire? The more detail, the better. And whoever provides the most detail, I’ll give even more Spirit Stones," Yi Tianyun said, looking at them.
"Ah, so it’s about the Empire. What would you like to know, friend? I just got back from there, so I have the clearest picture!"
"I—I just got back from there too, and I know even more!"
"Bullshit! You’ve been here the whole time! When did you just get back from the Empire?"
They had barely exchanged a few words before they started squabbling. It was just as the saying goes: men die for wealth, as birds die for food. They started pointing fingers at each other just to get those Spirit Stones.
"Stop!" Yi Tianyun looked at the man who claimed to have just returned from the Empire and said in a low voice, "One at a time. You go first. I want to know about the situation in the Imperial City, especially concerning the princess. Tell me everything."
"So you’re asking about the princess. That’s simple enough. The princess returned some time ago and immediately threw the Dragon Chancellor’s faction in the Imperial City into chaos. The Dragon Chancellor was originally preparing to ascend the throne, but now the princess has returned to become the Goddess. It’s a total slap in his face!" The man chuckled. "As for the faction that supports the princess, it’s the one that belonged to her brother, the previous Emperor Ren Long. Naturally, they support her becoming the Goddess."
"She has the purest Ren Family bloodline, and what’s more, the purest Celestial Dragon Bloodline. How could they not support her?"
"But the Dragon Chancellor’s Celestial Dragon Bloodline is also quite strong. I heard he’s some kind of relative to the princess, too?"
The man certainly knew a lot, recounting many details. Perhaps none of it was a secret, but in this area, at least, few people knew the specifics.
"It seems you only know the surface-level stuff. I know the real details!" the other Cultivator snorted. "The most important point is that besides having the purest Celestial Dragon Bloodline, the princess can also control the Celestial Dragon Treasure! Without control of the Celestial Dragon Treasure, you can’t even talk about becoming the Great Emperor. In my opinion, the princess must be in grave danger right now. The Dragon Chancellor definitely won’t be willing to give up his position to her, and he’ll look for a chance to kill her!"
"That’s all just wild speculation. You think they’d really dare to start a fight?"
"Me, speculating? You’re the one talking nonsense!"
The two of them were on the verge of fighting. They seemed to be on good terms a moment ago, but in the blink of an eye, they were at each other’s throats. It just went to show their relationship wasn’t very deep to begin with; they had likely just met on the road and stopped here to chat. The moment a reward was involved, they immediately started to compete.
Yi Tianyun stood to the side, lost in thought. There was truth in both of their stories, and with a bit of deduction, the scenario they painted was plausible.
"That’s enough. One hundred each!" Yi Tianyun took out another hundred Spirit Stones and placed them on the table. He was a generous person; as long as he got some decent information, he was willing to give a little extra.
The two men looked at each other, then hastily grabbed their shares, their faces blooming into wide smiles.
"Thank you, thank you, sir..." They couldn’t stop grinning. How could they not be happy after getting so many Spirit Stones for just a few words?
"Sir," one of the Cultivators asked, "you’re asking about all this... you’re not planning to go and support the princess, are you?"
"Why do you ask?" A cold glint flashed in Yi Tianyun’s eyes. Though he was in disguise and couldn’t be recognized, if they tried anything against him, he wouldn’t hold back.
"Right now, both factions are constantly trying to win over various powers to their side. If you want to support the princess’s faction, they happen to be recruiting experts in Dragon Tail City. You could go there and sign up." He smiled, offering the information for free.
"That won’t be necessary." Yi Tianyun smiled, then turned and left without lingering.
The two men looked at each other and shrugged. Whatever Yi Tianyun did was none of their business; they’d gotten their money, and that’s all that mattered.
After leaving, he immediately flew toward the Imperial City, no longer willing to dawdle. After several days of flight, he finally arrived at the heart of the Celestial Dragon Continent—the Celestial Dragon Imperial City!
This was the Imperial City of the Celestial Dragon Empire, its most prosperous region. Countless experts gathered here, and resources of all kinds were readily available. Yi Tianyun simply flew straight toward it. As he was about to fly into the Imperial City, a powerful Cultivator on the side shouted, "Friend, where might you be headed?"
Yi Tianyun glanced over and saw a Core Formation expert flying toward him. Unless one was an important figure in the Imperial City, no one was allowed to fly here freely. He was clearly here to investigate him.
To avoid any unnecessary misunderstandings, Yi Tianyun gave a slight smile, and his body promptly vanished from mid-air, disappearing from the guard’s line of sight.
"Where’d he go?!" The guard froze, stunned. He had just flown to the spot where Yi Tianyun had been, only to find the man had suddenly vanished.
After circling the area, he still couldn’t find any trace of Yi Tianyun, leaving him utterly bewildered. ’That’s strange... where did that man go? How did he just disappear? Was I seeing things?’
The Core Formation expert scratched his head, then flew down in confusion, returning to his post on the city wall.
Yi Tianyun hadn’t done anything special; he had simply used Invisibility. He didn’t want to waste time, so flying directly into the Imperial City was the best option. ’If I go through the checkpoints one by one, who knows how long it would take to get inside? And if I tell the guards I want to see the princess, would they just let me in? Even if they did, I’d have to go through layers of official announcements. It’s just too much trouble. So it’s best to just use Invisibility and fly straight in. Five minutes should be more than enough to get deep inside.’
In the blink of an eye, he flew into the Imperial Palace. The sky above was covered with Divine Runes capable of repelling any enemies invading from the air. He didn’t need to worry about that, though. He could just walk brazenly through the main gate; the guards wouldn’t see him at all.
Unless it was a powerful expert at the Spirit King Level, no one would be able to detect his presence.
Once inside, he flew swiftly toward the inner Imperial Palace, searching for Ren Zhirou with his Spiritual Sense along the way. In just a moment, he located her, and his expression changed drastically.
’This is bad! I have to save her, now!’ Yi Tianyun immediately accelerated, shooting forward.
