Chapter 364: Chapter 363: Departure
I drew from the lottery twice, getting an Enhanced Edition Blood Jade one time and a Divine Skill the other. Absolutely perfect!
Both were top-tier items, but the Blood Jade was practically a godsend for him. It could be used to inscribe Heaven and Earth Divine Patterns, allowing him to quickly recover his energy. But the truly crucial part was using it with Tyrant Pattern Paper—that changed everything.
The Tyrant Pattern Paper’s effect was brutally simple: it tripled the effects of items used with it. This meant that when combined, they would create a fifteen-fold increase in power—insane!
’If I used it on myself, my strength would increase fifteen-fold. The thought alone is terrifying.’ Combined with Madness Mode and his other equipment, he could only imagine how formidable he would become.
The Divine Skill, Invisibility, was another pleasant surprise. No one below the Spirit King Level would be able to detect him. Crucially, attacking wouldn’t break the invisibility, which meant he could attack however he pleased without fear of being revealed.
Normal stealth techniques or items like Concealing Talismans would instantly reveal the user upon attacking or moving. This Divine Skill, however, was different. It was the ultimate treasure for assassination, and a god-tier skill for escaping.
However, it still had a weakness: those at the Spirit King Stage could see through the Invisibility. But then again, how many people had actually reached the Spirit King Stage? For the time being, the skill was practically foolproof; he had no need to worry about being discovered.
’The items from the Enhanced Lottery Wheel really are something else,’ Yi Tianyun thought, shaking his head. ’If I had more Madness Value, I’d definitely go on a drawing spree.’ He desperately wanted to try his luck again, maybe a dozen times or so.
But for now, he needed to save his Madness Value for leveling up. Otherwise, he really would have spun the wheel several more times.
After putting the items away, he immediately began refining Soul-Nourishing Pills. He started by attempting a Fifth Refinement version. Since he had three stalks of Soul-Nourishing Grass, he figured he should at least try for the Fifth Refinement; the experience reward was simply too tempting to ignore.
BOOM!
As he was refining the Soul-Nourishing Pill, an explosion occurred during the pill solidification phase, and the pill shattered—a failure.
It seemed the heavens weren’t entirely on his side this time, and he had failed. A sixty percent success rate was just too low. Even though the odds were in his favor, the chance of failure was still significant, and it was just his bad luck to land on it. There was nothing to be done.
’Looks like luck isn’t with me this time...’
Yi Tianyun shook his head and decided to refine Fourth Refinement Soul-Nourishing Pills with his remaining two stalks. He didn’t dare attempt the Fifth Refinement again; if he failed, he wouldn’t be able to level up.
"Ding! Successfully refined a Soul-Nourishing Pill. Gained 500,000 EXP and 500 Mastery points for Alchemy Proficiency."
"Ding! After successfully refining multiple Soul-Nourishing Pills, your success rate for this pill has increased by one tier!"
A notification popped up. Unbeknownst to him, his success rate for refining Soul-Nourishing Pills had increased. The success rate for Fourth Refinement Soul-Nourishing Pills was now one hundred percent, and the rate for Fifth Refinement pills had risen to seventy percent!
It seemed that simply refining more pills could increase the success rate; he wasn’t just stuck at a fixed number. In the later stages, he could just mass-produce Elixir Pills. The success rate could increase even without leveling up his proficiency, as long as he kept practicing.
If he had to rely solely on leveling up his Mastery to improve the success rate, it would take forever. It seemed the principle of "practice makes perfect" applied to the system’s alchemy as well.
’So, refining more pills increases the success rate...’ Yi Tianyun shook his head and sighed. "But do I even have enough Soul-Nourishing Grass to practice with?"
He consumed the Soul-Nourishing Pills he had just refined, and a pleasant notification sound rang in his mind.
"Congratulations to Player ’Yi Tianyun’ for successfully breaking through to the Eighth Level of the Core Formation Stage!"
Hundreds of millions of experience points allowed him to level up with ease. However, he was now completely out of Soul-Nourishing Grass. He wondered if the Celestial Dragon Empire had any, because there was certainly none left here.
Next, he began refining Concentration Pills. These were pills used to cultivate experts, and he had spent a fortune to acquire the Pill Formula specifically for the Merak Sect.
Using his skilled Alchemy Technique, he quickly refined several batches of Concentration Pills—enough to produce dozens of new Core Formation Stage experts. The pills weren’t very effective, however, for those with an insufficient cultivation base.
’That should be enough. It’s time to make a trip to the Celestial Dragon Empire.’
As Yi Tianyun stood up to leave, he noticed Ye Qingxuan standing outside his door; he wasn’t sure how long she had been there. He saw that her eyes were red and swollen, and he had no idea what had happened.
"What’s wrong?" Yi Tianyun asked in confusion.
"The Spirit Race Forest... it was destroyed by the Netherworld Empire," Ye Qingxuan said, her silver eyes filled with anger and sorrow. "The Spirit Tower, everything... it was all destroyed. They even burned the forest to the ground."
That was the place they had called home for many years. To see it destroyed just like that caused her immense pain.
"It’s alright. We’ll just make the entire Netherworld Empire pay for this," Yi Tianyun said, a cold glint flashing in his eyes. The Netherworld Empire was just as ruthless as he’d imagined. Unable to find their target, they had simply destroyed the entire area. He had considered that they might do something like this before he left, but he hadn’t thought they would actually be so vicious.
"Mhm!" Ye Qingxuan nodded firmly. "Spirit King, are you about to leave?"
"Yes, time is short. If they find any clues, we’ll be in trouble," Yi Tianyun said. He knew they were safe for the moment, but that didn’t mean they couldn’t be tracked down later. Secrets never stay buried forever; it was only a matter of time before their new location was discovered.
As for how long they could keep their location a secret, he didn’t know. A migration of this scale would inevitably leave some traces behind to be found.
Ye Qingxuan nodded without saying anything more. After giving a few brief instructions, Yi Tianyun prepared to depart. Just as he was about to leave, he saw Shi Xueyun standing at the entrance, her elegant figure dressed in white looking as beautiful as ever.
"Auntie..." Yi Tianyun walked to her side. Her familiar, pleasant scent gave him a sense of peace.
Shi Xueyun’s cultivation had improved again. In fact, all the disciples of the Merak Sect had progressed by leaps and bounds; one could say the sect was flourishing.
"Are you about to leave?" Shi Xueyun asked, turning to look at him with a hint of melancholy in her beautiful eyes.
"Yes. The sooner, the better. I can’t delay any longer," Yi Tianyun said, gazing at her exquisite face. "Auntie, you’ve gotten thinner... You’ve worked so hard lately."
He could see she was more worn out than before. It was clear she had been overworking herself day and night, making her appear somewhat haggard.
"It’s nothing compared to everything you’re doing," Shi Xueyun said with a faint smile. "I believe that with you here, the sect will undoubtedly grow more glorious!"
"It will. I’ll make our sect so powerful that no one will ever dare to bully our Celestial Cloud Mansion again!" Yi Tianyun’s gaze was resolute. This had always been his goal. The weak are always preyed upon, so they had no choice but to become stronger.
"I believe you can do it," Shi Xueyun said with a smile. "It’s getting late. Go now, and come back soon. I’ll be waiting for you here."
"Okay, I’ll be back soon," Yi Tianyun said, taking out several bottles of Elixir Pills and handing them to her. "These are Concentration Pills. If someone at the late Spirit Refining Stage takes one, they’ll have a much easier time breaking through to the Core Formation Stage."
"Concentration Pills?" Shi Xueyun exclaimed in surprise. "The Pill Formula for those is incredibly rare. How did you manage to get it?"
"I just got lucky and found it," Yi Tianyun said with a brilliant smile. "Anyway, I’m off!" With that, he leaped into the air and flew away.
Shi Xueyun watched his figure disappear into the distance, clutching the Elixir Pills tightly. A glimmer shone in her beautiful eyes. "I’ll wait for you to come back..."
