Chapter 451: Chapter 266: Giant Poisonous Cannon Fiend and the Black Assassin
These Giant Poisonous Cannon Fiends were one of the types of threatening units he had seen listed before entering the instance.
If these Giant Poisonous Cannon Fiends were allowed to keep evolving, there was no telling what they would become. When that happened, the Poison Cannons they fired might be too much for Lanxi City’s gates to withstand.
On the city wall, Anglo sprang into action beside Fang Zhen.
Anglo had been observing the battlefield from the wall, taking turns with Alexander to defend the city.
Upon seeing the massive Giant Poisonous Cannon Fiend, Anglo’s expression turned cautious and grim.
Anglo raised his enormous warbow again, and a white light flashed over it.
Anglo activated his Power Mountain Seal, but even with its strength, he could only draw the massive warbow two-thirds of the way.
One of Anglo’s disciples immediately handed him a long, black arrow.
’Seeing the enormous warbow, Fang Zhen felt the arrow’s velocity would rival that of a typical sniper rifle.’
’Fang Zhen reckoned its lethality was comparable to a sniper weapon.’
Just as Anglo was about to loose the arrow, six or seven dark figures suddenly shot up from the pile of Abnormal Ghost corpses at the base of the wall.
Using some unknown technique, the figures ran straight up the side of the wall as if it were level ground.
They rushed up just as Anglo was taking aim at the Giant Poisonous Cannon Fiend.
Anglo was completely focused on his shot and didn’t notice the new development. Only after the six or seven figures burst onto the wall did he realize something was terribly wrong.
By then, the surrounding Curse Sealers had also noticed the threat. The quicker ones shouted and charged forward, trying to intercept the six or seven figures before they could swarm Anglo.
Fang Zhen now had a clear view of them. The six or seven figures were actually human, but they were wrapped head to toe in black bandages, resembling dark mummies.
Fang Zhen immediately drew his Desert Viper Handgun from his King’s Belt and fired a quick succession of shots, aiming for the back of one of the figures’ heads.
Hearing the gunshots, the bandaged figure—unaware of what kind of attack Fang Zhen was using—instinctively jerked its head aside to avoid a fatal blow.
But unexpectedly, the path of its turning head moved it directly into the bullet’s trajectory.
It was his precognition.
Fang Zhen had taken down one of the bandaged assailants. He glanced at the others and saw that three had been intercepted by the guards, but the remaining three were lunging straight for Anglo.
Anglo was in an awkward position. It seemed that drawing his warbow was a set process, one that couldn’t be easily interrupted midway.
One of the bandaged men lunged, thrusting a sharp blade at him. At that exact moment, Anglo finished drawing his bow and released the string. The arrow flew from the powerful longbow, streaking toward the distant Giant Poisonous Cannon Fiend.
Immediately after loosing the black arrow, Anglo swung his bow like a club, striking one of the bandaged assassins.
A sickening crunch of shattering bone echoed.
The bandaged assassin’s sternum shattered.
A normal person would have collapsed from such a blow, but the assailant didn’t even flinch. Instead, it surged forward even faster and threw itself at Anglo.
Anglo finally had a moment to react. He prepared to activate a curse seal—the Gang Zan Seal Force Field was about to erupt from his body.
But at that very moment, the assassin with the shattered sternum threw its arms wide and locked Anglo in a tight embrace.
Anglo was halfway through activating the Gang Zan Seal when he was interrupted, unable to fully deploy it.
The bandaged assassin on top of him, with no regard for a Martial Artist’s dignity, opened its mouth—a gaping, bloody maw—and lunged for Anglo’s neck.
Anglo cried out and twisted his head away. The assassin’s teeth sank into his shoulder. The wound wasn’t fatal, but it drew blood.
Behind them, the other two bandaged assassins also charged, completely ignoring the weapons of the soldiers and Curse Sealers striking their bodies.
The soldiers’ weapons stabbed into the assassins, but the two paid them no mind. The first one was already behind Anglo, short blade in hand, ready to stab wildly at his head, armpit, the back of his neck, his waist, and other vital points.
"Duck!"
A magnetic voice suddenly rang out.
It was Fang Zhen.
Having fought alongside Fang Zhen, Anglo already trusted him implicitly.
Without questioning why, Anglo forced his head down.
Instantly, a vortex of air shot past Anglo’s head.
Fang Zhen held the Desert Viper Handgun in his left hand and a long spear in his right. He had just thrust with the spear.
He had used the fourth stage of the Power Mountain Seal: Rift!
The instant Anglo ducked, the vortex from Fang Zhen’s Power Mountain Seal: Rift shot out.
The fully bandaged assassin, which had leaped onto Anglo’s back and was trying to climb up and straddle him, happened to have its head tilted back.
With a wet POP!, a cloud of blood mist erupted in the air.
Under the force of the vortex from Fang Zhen’s spear, the bandaged assassin’s head simply vanished—atomized into a mist of blood and bone.
The bandaged assassin may have been fearless, but without a head, its fearlessness no longer mattered. It was dead.
The vortex tore through the first assassin and continued on, obliterating half of the second assassin’s head. Two birds with one stone.
Anglo finally had a chance to catch his breath.
Anglo let out a furious roar. His fists, glowing with white light, shot forward twice. He had used the Power Mountain Seal two times in quick succession.
Fang Zhen’s eyes lit up. He had never seen a technique for using the Power Mountain Seal in rapid succession.
Anglo’s two punches landed squarely on the chest of the bandaged man in front of him.
The blows struck his body, and the imprints of the fists actually passed straight through the assassin’s back, right where his heart should be.
The assassin’s heart seemed to have been pulped. It instantly lost all power. Though its will to fight remained, the strength in its grip vanished.
Anglo then swung his arm, violently flinging the assassin away. Fang Zhen immediately raised the handgun in his left hand and put two more bullets in the assassin’s forehead.
