Chapter 443: Chapter 264: Contaminated Soldiers
"They’re nothing more than punching bags to improve my abilities," Fang Zhen said.
The heavens could attest that he was telling the absolute truth.
Alexander burst out laughing. "Such bravado! I like your style."
Fang Zhen looked at the aberrations on the beach below and said, "If our side were all Curse Sealers, one person could normally handle one Abnormal Ghost. But if we form up, we can deal with more."
"And with the Blood Burst Secret Medicine, I believe our strength should be greater than theirs."
Alexander nodded. "Exactly. That’s why we’re going to catch them by surprise."
Fang Zhen raised his spear. His Extraordinary Long Spear was still being crafted, so for now, he was still using his Dragon Gall Bright Silver Spear.
Alexander grinned when he saw Fang Zhen raise his spear.
Alexander had also brought a long weapon. It looked something like a heavy glaive and seemed quite massive.
His mount was also a tall, powerful horse, but compared to Fang Zhen’s Red Hare Horse, it couldn’t quite compare.
Alexander ordered in a low voice, "Coat all weapons with the Blood Burst Secret Medicine!"
At that, the Curse Sealers on horseback behind them all took out the Blood Burst Secret Medicine and smeared it on their weapons. A palpable tension ran through them, and some made anxious, snorting sounds, almost like a horse’s whinny.
After all, this was a major battle. Not everyone could remain completely calm and composed.
Fang Zhen was ready. Just then, Alexander raised his arm and bellowed, "Charge with me!"
Immediately, Alexander spurred his horse forward.
Fang Zhen, mounted on his Red Hare Horse, charged out almost shoulder to shoulder with Alexander.
The two of them were like the tip of a spear—its hardest, sharpest point. And just like that, they charged forward together.
Near the beach was a relatively sparse woodland. Some Abnormal Ghosts had already appeared there, pacing anxiously in place as if controlled and restrained by some mysterious force.
Just then, Fang Zhen and his men charged down. The Abnormal Ghosts here were densely packed, gathered in squads of seven or eight. At a glance, they formed a vast sea of bodies.
Fang Zhen, however, was completely unconcerned.
Over the past two days, he had killed well over a hundred Abnormal Ghosts; he was almost numb to the slaughter.
Fang Zhen’s warhorse surged forward, his spear darting out again and again. Each thrust pierced an Abnormal Ghost, and the power of the Power Mountain Seal sent them flying.
Since Fang Zhen was charging as part of a military formation, he didn’t use any of his more advanced skills. He stuck to the second stage of the Power Mountain Seal, but it was more than enough.
His spear was coated with the Blood Burst Secret Medicine. Combined with the Power Mountain Seal, it sent the Abnormal Ghosts flying back, preventing them from colliding with him or slowing his charge. Their bodies would then explode in a shower of shattered bone.
Alexander, charging alongside him, wielded the heavy glaive with both hands, repeatedly slashing with the great blade.
In his hands, the heavy glaive seemed as light as a toy, and he wielded it with surprising agility.
Furthermore, the reach of Alexander’s glaive was immense. In a radius of several meters around him, Abnormal Ghosts would hear a sudden SWISH as the blade slashed across a neck or chest. An instant later, heads would fly, or their bodies—now tainted by the Blood Burst Secret Medicine—would swell and detonate.
Seeing the ferocity of Fang Zhen and Alexander, the morale of the Curse Sealers surged. Their earlier nervousness vanished, replaced by furious roars as they charged into the fray.
By tacit agreement, Fang Zhen and Alexander kept their charge within the woodlands, a set distance from the shore. The fine beach sand was ill-suited for galloping warhorses, whose hooves would easily sink, whereas the forest floor provided much better footing.
Fang Zhen led his men, circling through the area and repeatedly sweeping through the formations of Abnormal Ghosts and other aberrations.
After some time, Fang Zhen and Alexander, acting on another shared understanding, split their forces to execute a pincer movement.
"Split up and pin them down!" Fang Zhen suddenly shouted. Alexander caught his meaning at once. The two split to either side, carving through the flanks of a large group of Abnormal Ghosts and other aberrations like the pincers of a crab.
This enemy contingent was a mix of everything: Abnormal Ghosts, Ghost-faced Spiders, Fierce Ghosts, and even some human soldiers.
Fang Zhen had over two hundred Curse Sealers at his back, as did Alexander. The two groups split with perfect battlefield coordination, trapping the relatively scattered aberrations between them.
At this point, the power of the Blood Burst Secret Medicine became clear. Even an ordinary Curse Sealer would normally have some difficulty killing an Abnormal Ghost.
But now, as long as their blades so much as scratched an Abnormal Ghost, the creature was doomed to explode and die.
This effect sent the Curse Sealers’ morale soaring, their spirits sky-high.
Fang Zhen and Alexander attacked from separate flanks, enveloping a nearby squad of Alien Ghosts and soldiers.
He realized there were merely one to two thousand aberrations on the beach. Although their Curse Sealer strike force numbered just over four hundred, their overall strength far surpassed the enemy’s. They could utterly crush them.
After a few charges, Alexander and Fang Zhen carved a large group of aberrations and soldiers out from the main enemy force, severing their connection to the others. They then led their troops in repeated sweeps, charging back and forth to wipe out the isolated contingent.
