Chapter 419: Chapter 257: Comprehensive Upgrade
After Fang Zhen and Chen Baokun finalized their business deal and agreed on the transaction method, Fang Zhen found an opportune moment to take his leave.
He would be trading his gold bars to Chen Baokun soon, and the payment would have to go through a corporate account. Although this meant paying a hefty tax, it was worth it to avoid a lot of legal trouble.
The transaction amount this time was substantial, so he needed to arrange a schedule and establish a solid process. Future deals with Chen Baokun could then follow this procedure, which would cut down on a lot of hassle.
After leaving the tea room, Fang Zhen went downstairs and got into his car. Sitting in the driver’s seat, he pulled out his phone and called his company’s manager, He Yilin.
Fang Zhen had been wanting to get a membership for his company at the Shanghai Precious Metals Exchange for a while now. The application was finally nearing approval.
He Yilin had been following up on it, and by his calculations, it should be about time.
Once he had the membership certificate, Fang Zhen would no longer have to operate under the umbrella of another member company of the Precious Metals Exchange. Not only would he save on the affiliation fee, but he would also have much more freedom to operate and trade.
The call ended a few minutes later, and Fang Zhen hung up.
After speaking with He Yilin, Fang Zhen learned that the membership application process was about eighty percent complete.
He was quite satisfied with the progress.
He did a quick calculation. His current deals with Chen Baokun were bringing in a net income of eight to nine million per month. Once he had the Precious Metals Exchange membership, he could start making some real moves.
That way, without evading taxes or unofficially laundering the gold, he would have a legitimate explanation for its origin. He wouldn’t have to worry about people investigating his large stockpile of gold and being unable to account for where it came from.
Everything was moving in the right direction.
Hao Lei, who had been with Fang Zhen, also felt a great sense of pride.
Seeing his boss casually discussing deals worth millions, Hao Lei couldn’t help but feel a sense of admiration and respect.
Fang Zhen knew word of today’s events would spread through the company, which was a good thing. Letting the employees know their boss was capable would help boost morale and unity.
After concluding this matter, Fang Zhen had Hao Lei and the others head back to the company first.
He drove home. He still had other things to take care of.
He had gained a considerable amount of Merit Points in the Demon Duke dungeon this time, and he needed to use them to strategically improve his own strength.
「A few dozen minutes later」
Fang Zhen arrived home.
Having resolved his worldly worries and free from financial anxiety, Fang Zhen felt completely relaxed.
He set aside an entire afternoon to upgrade his abilities while his mind was clear.
He currently had 2 free attribute points. After some consideration, Fang Zhen decided to invest both of them into Constitution.
Although Fang Zhen suspected that entering the Extraordinary Realm required all of his attributes to surpass a certain threshold, like reaching 15 or higher, he didn’t have enough free attribute points for that yet. Spreading them out evenly would leave him without any particular strengths or specializations.
In the end, he decided to stick to his original plan: first, raise his Constitution above 20 and see if it triggered some kind of qualitative change.
After adding two points, Fang Zhen’s Constitution reached 17.
He could feel the vitality within his body increase once again. His body felt lighter, and his overall condition had improved.
Besides adding 2 points to Constitution, Fang Zhen had another realization.
After the Demon Duke dungeon, Fang Zhen had noticed something about himself: his overall capabilities were extremely high, with no obvious weaknesses.
However, there was one issue: his offensive power for tough targets wasn’t particularly strong. His Second-stage Power Mountain Seal and other seals and skills were generally sufficient for dealing with average bosses, but if a boss was any stronger, Fang Zhen felt he would struggle.
’It’s clear that the nightmare dungeons in the Nameless World are already quite difficult. The boss strength is bound to keep increasing, getting even more formidable.’
His current skill set was perfectly fine for dealing with regular mobs, but his damage output was somewhat lacking against high-intensity bosses.
’Following my current line of thinking, there are two solutions to this problem. I could either spend more Merit Points on a powerful offensive skill, using them to forge a strong single-target ability, or I could upgrade my gear.’
Fang Zhen planned to upgrade his skills first.
’After all, skills are a part of me. They’re always there, ready to be used at any time. The same can’t be said for equipment. What would I do in an extreme situation where I have no gear?’
’Of course, the safest path is a two-pronged approach.’
With this in mind, Fang Zhen opened the ’Life Game’ interface and navigated to the skills tab.
Inside the skills tab, his current skills were displayed in the form of a Skill Tree.
He found the Seal icon and examined it closely.
Next, Fang Zhen turned his attention to his Mage Meditation Technique. He had obtained the relevant skill book by interrogating the Mage who had ambushed him in Ashton Castle.
Fang Zhen spent 210 Merit Points and learned Advanced Meditation.
His Spiritual Power and stamina recovery rates increased. Furthermore, this Meditation Technique was very powerful, adding another point to his Source Power.
’Perhaps because I’ve already learned the Guidance Technique, the Mage Meditation Technique only added 1 point of Source Power.’ His Source Power was now at 19, just one point shy of 20.
’I wonder what will happen when my Source Power reaches 20.’
