"Looks like you are having a hard time keeping up with things, Subject #00. It makes me feel sorry for you. Hmm, maybe it’s time I interfere more freely."
Molly K. Jr hummed as she said this to herself. Her screen blinked back at her before flashing blue, telling her that she had succeeded in hacking the system’s mainframe.
Not that it had been difficult.
"My beloved god would never hold me back from doing what I need to do for him. I wonder how long it will take before the others see the true light and decide to join me?"
The female looked fascinated by the results of her research, but she had no time to waste. Every second she spent not working was a second she spent away from her beloved god.
She needed to help her god wake up so that it could fulfill all of her wishes.
And to do that, she needed to make sure Rin awakened to his potential.
"Usually, I would like to slowly nurture the kid until he becomes the right seed to wake my beloved god. But time is a luxury that my god does not have. So I will have to artificially make the seed sprout."
There were various ways to make the seed sprout, but the easiest and quickest one was to fill it with nutrition and let strong emotions consume that nutrition. She had done everything up until now with this in mind.
But Rin had a strong mentality that refused to collapse.
"It’s your fault I have to play dirty like this. Even I don’t want to do this to an innocent kid. But if this is what my god needs, then I will do what I can."
Molly had no regrets. She had already won over Rin’s trust and given him tasks to absorb cores that would increase his power.
Now, she just needed to make a core explode, and Serena was the perfect victim.
She was someone who was already going to die any day now. But her core was still weak. She would not become enough of a calamity once she bloomed...at least, not for Rin’s nutrition.
Molly needed to give her more, and she knew exactly what she could do to make it happen.
"Well, I already interfered this much. So it’s time to interfere a little more. My beloved god would understand why I am doing this as well."
She looked at the fibers of the ’god’ that were running through her, and she let out a sigh. Her hands twitched to touch those fibers, but she knew better than to disturb her lord’s rest.
"I will make sure Rin Kalos awakens to his full potential and even surpasses everything. Once he’s ready, I will offer him to you as a sacrifice, my lord. And then, you will be able to be reborn in this world."
That was the only goal Molly had, and she could go to any lengths to make sure she got what she wanted.
She could even pretend to be the system, helping Rin out and guiding him along. It was all for her own benefit and for the resurrection of her master.
And for now, she had her next target selected.
"Serena, huh. I guess it’s time for you to serve your purpose to my master."

"My head hurts. I need to take the pills."
Serena swallowed the potion Rin had given her, and the thick liquid slowly went down her throat. Her head became clear in an instant and she let out a relieved sigh.
Her eyes felt tired and she decided to close them, but she was not able to fall asleep despite how tired she was.
In the end, Serena decided to take a small walk. Her head was clear after such a long time (except during the last task), so she wanted to enjoy this moment.
She walked through the settlement, waiting for her mother to comment. But her mother never commented.
’It feels so nice. Maybe I should continue taking this potion for as long as I can without falling asleep. I won’t mind getting addicted to it either.’
Serena knew she was about to lose her mind to the corruption, which would be so much worse than addiction. So if drugs were going to help her out, then it was only right for Serena to take them.
For now, she allowed her feet to take her wherever they wanted to, and she ended up near the warehouse section of the property.
She walked around for a bit before deciding that she should start heading back. She had just turned around when she heard a gasp of pain and decided to follow it.
Teressa was the one making that noise, her hand clutching her chest as she heaved and tried to get it under control.
Serena noticed the signs of early-stage corruption immediately and her feet moved on their own to stand by Teressa’s side.
"Hey, are you alright? Take a deep breath and try to push through this. This attack will pass."
Serena told her as she patted Teressa’s back to help her calm down. Teressa slowly recovered, but she still looked out of it.
"Thank you for your help. I should get going now."
Teressa still looked pale and she was swaying on her feet like she was about to fall at any second.
It did not sit well with Serena to let her walk away like this. Especially since she knew that Rin would be upset if he saw Teressa like this.
’Is there anything I can do to help Teressa out?’
Serena asked while biting her lip.
She knew that the answer was likely no, but she still wanted to see whether she could be of use or not.
The system was quiet for a moment before it spoke up.

The system asked her and Serena felt her vision becoming blurry.
In the end, she had gotten a solution, just as she had asked for. But this solution was not something that made her feel happy.
’If I absorb this corruption, then how long will I even be able to last?’
Serena was asking this question to herself, but the system was the one that decided to answer her.
