Chapter 961: End Of The War
The battlefield became silent for a moment as Anna Grace’s sword cut down both the Undead King and his mount—the last surviving Death Worm—in a single attack.
The allied forces watched the scene with expressions that spoke louder than words, feeling as though their hearts had stopped beating for a moment.
The core inside the Undead King’s chest was sliced cleanly into two halves, severing all connection with his body, and the flames burning within his eyes were extinguished permanently.
The Death Worm was also split apart, its massive body crashing onto the battlefield as its organs scattered everywhere, releasing a foul and unpleasant odor into the atmosphere.
Finally, the war had come to an end after the death of the Undead King. The looming threat to all living beings on the continent had disappeared permanently.
With this, the heavy tension lingering in the air also vanished, allowing people to finally breathe freely once again. A sense of relief washed over everyone after such a long and dreadful battle.
The unbearable burden they had carried for so long had finally been lifted from their shoulders. And with that, many warriors immediately collapsed onto the battlefield.
Exhaustion finally overtook their bodies, leaving them unable to remain standing any longer.
Now that the war had ended, they could finally relax and let go of all the fear and worries that had consumed them for so long.
Meanwhile, Yuan immediately rushed toward his mother like a worried child and began inspecting her body with his Divine Sense, searching carefully for any possible injuries.
The attack from the Undead King had undoubtedly been powerful—powerful enough to injure even a cultivator.
"Thank goodness you’re fine... You made me worry so much for a moment, Mom..." Yuan spoke emotionally as he immediately pulled her into his embrace.
’This child... just how much does he love me...? I want to push him onto the bed and do some naughty things to him right this instant...’ Anna Grace thought while feeling the warmth of his embrace, causing her body to tingle slightly.
At the same time, she felt incredibly happy knowing just how deeply he cared for her and how much he truly loved her.
"Sorry for making you worry because of my recklessness... I didn’t think things through at that moment and ended up worrying you..." Anna Grace whispered softly into his ear while wrapping her arms around his neck.
She didn’t care that Yuan’s body was completely soaked in blood right now. The only thing that mattered to her was comforting him within her embrace.
They remained in each other’s arms for several moments before the others finally arrived.
"That was simply amazing, Mom! You cut down that bastard like it was nothing!" Lily exclaimed excitedly as she pushed Yuan aside before hugging Anna Grace tightly.
"I used a new technique that I learned while cultivating inside the Secret Realm... but I honestly didn’t expect it to be this powerful..." Anna Grace replied with a smile while gently hugging Lily back.
"Let’s return to the Great Wall. The war is over, and everyone is waiting for us," Anna Grace said after letting go of Lily, her eyes shifting toward the distant Great Wall.
Meanwhile, the allied forces had already begun celebrating their victory as the war finally came to an end. The Undead King and his massive army had finally been defeated.
However, despite the victory, countless people carried deep sorrow within their hearts after witnessing their comrades lose their lives during the battle for survival.
And the most horrifying part of the war was when the Undead King turned their fallen comrades into undead creatures and forced them to fight against the very people they once stood beside.
Once Emperor Rhex recovered a portion of his strength, he slowly stood up with a firm expression on his face.
"Everyone, the great battle has finally ended, and the threat to all living beings has disappeared at last," Emperor Rhex declared, his voice booming throughout the battlefield.
The allied forces slowly gathered together after hearing his words, but despite achieving victory, deep sadness could still be seen clearly on their faces.
Of course, Emperor Rhex noticed this immediately, as he himself was experiencing the very same emotions.
And he continued, "Although we have won the war against the darkness, it came with a heavy cost. Many of our comrades have fallen—they sacrificed their lives in order to protect our people."
"Without their sacrifice, we wouldn’t have been able to hold the enemy back for so long. For that, we must always remain grateful to those noble souls who gave up their lives so that we could win this war and protect our people."
"We must always remember them in our hearts and never allow their sacrifices to go to waste. We must continue striving to improve the lives of our people and build a future worthy of the blood they shed."
"They may have left us... but they will forever remain within our hearts..." Emperor Rhex spoke in a sentimental voice, a deep sadness visible on his face.
Once he finished his speech, he ordered the soldiers to collect the remains of the fallen warriors so they could be returned to their families and loved ones.
The people immediately began gathering the remains and carrying them back toward the campsite, covering the bodies carefully with white cloth.
The atmosphere quickly became heavy as silence spread across the entire campsite. Hundreds of dead bodies lay upon the ground, covered beneath white sheets.
—
Meanwhile, Yuan and the others had gathered at the top of the Great Wall, reuniting with everyone who had been eagerly waiting for them.
"You truly surprised me, Yuan," Long Yuyan spoke as she stood before him with a faint smile.
"I never imagined you had already mastered Sword Aura. Even the top geniuses of the Earth Immortal Sect could not wield Sword Aura at such a young age. You are truly something else... a complete monster."
Yuan chuckled softly after hearing her words. He couldn’t help but wonder what those so-called geniuses looked like and how powerful they truly were.
"You’re flattering me too much, Miss Yuyan. I still have a very long way to go before I can call myself a genius," Yuan replied casually.
Long Yuyan sighed softly before explaining, "I’m not flattering you at all. Many core disciples spend their entire lives unable to grasp Sword Aura. Some require thousands of years of experience just to vaguely comprehend it, much less fully learn it."
"You are underestimating yourself far too much, Yuan. Those geniuses cannot even compare to your talent. They wouldn’t even qualify to carry your shoes." She spoke with a serious expression on her face.
"Thank you for the praise, Miss Yuyan," Yuan replied with a smile before shifting his gaze toward the distant horizon.
’Geniuses, huh? I’m sure there are countless geniuses within the Nine Heavens... people whose cultivation far surpasses mine...’ Yuan thought inwardly.
He couldn’t help but feel excited at the thought. After all, he had yet to meet a truly powerful opponent—someone capable of forcing him to fight seriously without dying instantly.
’Once I get there... I’ll finally be able to fight with everything I have, without holding back. Fighting someone equally strong—or even stronger—would surely be thrilling.’ A grin slowly formed on his face as excitement sent chills down his spine.
Then suddenly, his expression became serious. His fists clenched tightly, and the surrounding air cracked faintly under the pressure.
’Before that... I need to return to my previous world—Earth. Only then can I ascend to the Nine Heavens.’ Yuan muttered inwardly.
Meanwhile, Isolde and Nerith approached Yuan quietly from behind with bright smiles on their faces. Yuan was so absorbed in his thoughts that he failed to notice them approaching.
"Yuan, that was something else entirely... The strength you displayed wasn’t even close to what you showed during our spar." Nerith spoke with admiration in her eyes, still deeply shocked by his overwhelming power.
"Indeed. You didn’t even use half of your strength against me during our duel either... Seeing your true power now is honestly terrifying," Isolde added while nodding in agreement with Nerith.
Yuan snapped out of his thoughts after hearing them speak. He turned toward them with a bittersweet smile on his face.
"Hehe... Unfortunately, that still wasn’t the full extent of my strength either. I only used around fifty percent of my power against those undeads and Death Worms," he replied awkwardly while scratching the back of his head.
"..."
Both Nerith and Isolde froze completely upon hearing his response.
They felt as though they had swallowed a live fly, utterly dumbfounded by what he had just said.
"Y-You must be joking with me... That wasn’t even your full power?! That’s completely ridiculous!" Nerith exclaimed in utter disbelief, as though the sky itself had collapsed over her head.
As for Isolde, she turned completely silent, her mind descending into chaos. She simply couldn’t believe that the strength Yuan had displayed throughout the battle wasn’t even the full extent of his power.
And yet, he had been able to eliminate thousands of undeads with a single swing of his sword and completely erase the Undead Dragons with just one attack—something so outrageous that it bordered on insanity.
Furthermore, he had slaughtered the entire army of Death Worms almost entirely by himself, and with such overwhelming ease that it looked less like a battle and more like he was casually butchering livestock.
Yuan couldn’t help but let out an awkward chuckle before speaking.
"Well... even though it’s hard to believe, I’m honestly not lying to you. I could’ve ended this war alone from the very beginning, but I had my own reasons for not doing so."
"Besides... this was your war, not mine," Yuan added before releasing a soft sigh.
A few moments later, they finally returned to the campsite, where a gloomy atmosphere still lingered heavily in the air despite the ongoing celebrations among many of the surviving soldiers.
Guards stood watch over the bodies of the fallen, ensuring that no wind beasts or scavengers could approach and desecrate the lifeless remains of those who had sacrificed themselves during the war.
Elsewhere throughout the camp, warriors celebrated their hard-earned victory while drinking alcohol and eating roasted meat around blazing fires.
At the same time, countless injured soldiers were still being treated inside the medical tents scattered across the campsite.
The war had finally ended, but it had also left behind countless scars that would not heal anytime soon.
Many people had lost their lives. Many others had been gravely injured.
Some still hovered between life and death, desperately struggling to survive inside the crowded tents.
However, despite all the suffering and bloodshed, the war had finally come to an end—leaving behind a historic event that would forever be remembered throughout the continent.
A war that forced every race upon the continent to unite once again against a common enemy.
