Chapter 400: Chapter 265: Hitting the Jackpot Again
"Found it." Li Xiang gave Luo Feifei a look. After storing all the offerings in his system’s warehouse, an earthy yellow light flared up, and the two of them swiftly sank into the ground, heading toward the special Earth Vein deep below.
On the surface, inside the Temple, a crowd of monks and believers remained prostrated on the ground, kowtowing in worship, not daring to look up at the Divine Envoy. Because of this, they were completely unaware that the Divine Envoy had left. It was only after a long while that they finally raised their heads and discovered the Divine Envoy was gone—and the mountain of precious treasures had vanished with him. It was obvious the Divine Envoy had graciously accepted their offerings, so they all beamed with joy, greatly relieved, and prayed for the gods to bless them.
By now, Li Xiang and Luo Feifei had arrived more than 1,500 meters underground, where the Crystal Stone vein lay dormant like a coiled, giant python.
This Earth Vein contained a spiritual aura, pulsating faintly as if it were alive. Its body snaked and coiled in intricate patterns; if you were to compare it to a serpent, it would have at least a thousand heads.
And of those heads, at least a hundred stretched in the direction of the Himalayas.
This was Uttarakhand, India, right next to the Himalayas.
’So this is the real reason you’ve all been trying to cross the Himalayas and take over the Tibetan Area. Let me just dig this up and put an end to that little fantasy of yours.’
Li Xiang started with the "snake heads" on the Himalayan side, harvesting the branch veins one by one as he worked his way toward the ore vein’s core.
Unleashing his Earth Superpower, vast swathes of blue-purple crystal clusters peeled away, their fractured surfaces reflecting a faint glimmer in the shape of a snowy mountain’s silhouette.
Luo Feifei held up a high-powered searchlight. As its beam pierced the darkness, the scaly patterns on the ore vein’s surface became clearly visible. Countless Sanskrit scriptures seemed to flicker in and out of view on each "scale."
She reached out to touch the ore wall, and frost immediately bloomed on her fingertips. The scriptures writhed faintly in the chill, as if they were alive.
Neither of them could read the text, but they guessed it was probably some kind of scripture from Hinduism.
’If Jiang Cai’Er were here, she’d definitely be able to read this,’ Li Xiang thought. However, even though he could be clueless at times, he knew better than to say that out loud right now.
He stopped dwelling on the scriptures and immersed himself in his work—mining.
He pressed his palms to the ground, and layers of rock peeled away like chocolate shavings. A downpour of blue-purple ore rained into his system’s warehouse. Luo Feifei leaned against the ore wall to watch the show, using her Ice Superpower to modify the searchlight into a spinning spotlight. The beam flashed in time with the rhythm of his mining, turning the cavern into a disco.
"Keep it up, Brother Miner~"
’There’s nothing for it,’ she thought. ’I can’t help with this kind of manual labor. I’ll just have to wait for the Earth Vein Spirit to send out its Crystalized Exotic Beasts. I can help by seriously injuring them, and then let Li Xiang do the harvesting.’
’Still, when it comes to being a cheerleader, Luo Feifei is a far cry from Yao Yao. If Sister Yao were here, she’d be slinging all kinds of wild and flirty comments by now—the kind that really gets a guy fired up.’
’But then again, Luo Feifei has a different style entirely. They’re not really comparable.’
No living thing can endure having its flesh carved out while still alive. Finally, this Earth Vein Spirit began to fight back.
As Luo Feifei’s searchlight beam swept over one of the snake-head veins, two points suddenly lit up from within it, like the pupils of a giant serpent. A sinister, dark-red light flared, and a swarm of crystalized, fluorescent bats flew out from the ore vein.
System: "Detected seventy-two Tier Four Mutated Creatures: Moloch Bats."
Luo Feifei’s spirits lifted. "Brother Xiang, you keep going!" she shouted. "Leave these little things to me!"
With a light tap of her toes on the rock wall, she spun into mid-air like a ballerina on ice. Her exquisite Ice Crystal Peach Blossom Sword Qi swirled around her graceful frame, then burst forth, transforming into hundreds of peach-blossom-shaped ice blades that shimmered with a pinkish-blue halo in the searchlight’s beam.
"Behold my Celestial Maiden Scattering Flowers~" Luo Feifei giggled, full of playful spirit. Her Sword Qi precisely pierced the wing membrane of each Brahma Sound Bat, and crystalline cracks instantly spread across their wings.
The stricken swarm of bats flew about erratically. Over thirty of them slammed into the stone pillars created by the mining, while the remaining half spiraled down from mid-air, their fluorescent glands leaking a blue, crystalline marrow.
The alpha bat tried to counterattack with a sonic screech, but Luo Feifei plugged its mouth shut with a flicked Ice Peach Core. It tumbled to Li Xiang’s feet, its cheeks comically puffed out.
"Brother Xiang, time for the harvest!" Luo Feifei whirled back to hide behind him. "If you wait any longer, these little guys are gonna catch a cold~"
"You’re so mischievous," Li Xiang said with a helpless laugh. Then, he activated his Rock Armor Large Shovel Plate, smashing the grounded, Crystalized bats to pieces.
System: "Congratulations, Host. For killing seventy-two Tier Four Mutated Creatures, Moloch Bats, you have received a surprise reward..."
After that, many more Crystalized Exotic Beasts appeared, such as the Thunder Mandala Snake, the Poisonous Mist Naga, and the Ice Cone Pusujji. They came in wave after wave, attacking relentlessly.
Li Xiang couldn’t help but feel a bit curious. ’This Earth Vein Spirit doesn’t seem very bright,’ he mused. ’It only knows how to use these piecemeal tactics. If it were me, I would’ve unleashed all my forces at once.’
The Thunder Mandala Snake was a bizarre serpent wreathed in high-voltage electric arcs. Its scales were Crystalized from Indra Thunder Stone, and it spat chain lightning from its mouth that ricocheted off the cavern walls to form an electrical grid.
The Poisonous Mist Naga had a She Sha Scale Crystal embedded in its vital spot. It spat a dark green, corrosive cloud of poison that could coalesce into the shape of a Cobra, specifically targeting a person’s seven facial orifices.
The Ice Cone Pusujji, meanwhile, whipped its tail to fling Himalayan Ice Crystals that exploded into a jungle of sharp spikes upon impact. Hidden within the hailstorm of Ice Cones were miniature avalanches that threatened to collapse the cavern through resonance. However, with Li Xiang’s Earth Pivot World Record Superpower, such collapses were nothing to fear.
