Chapter 393: Chapter 262: Lost Traces of the Earth Vein (3)
After all, she’d been a virgin in two lives. Though she had recovered some memories of her past life through the Dream Realm, they were fragmented and sporadic. And in this life, she was only sixteen.
When Li Xiang came out of his shower, Luo Feifei was already asleep on the bed, her breathing exceptionally light and even.
She had washed her hair, but she didn’t need a hairdryer. Thanks to her Water Superpower, her hair could dry in an instant. Letting it drip wetly over her shoulders earlier had been purely to tempt Li Xiang.
Li Xiang saw that one of her shoulders was exposed, and worried she might get cold, he went over and gently covered her with the blanket.
As for Li Xiang, he sat meditating on the sofa. He assumed a specific posture to practice his Breathing Technique. The space was too small to incorporate any special Body Techniques, but he knew many Breathing Techniques and could pick a Magic Skill that didn’t require large movements.
Breathing Techniques were profound. Not only could they cultivate Spiritual Power, but they also seemed to stimulate the body’s latent potential, generating accompanying Superpower Runes during breakthroughs.
These Lifebound Superpower Runes could be activated with a single thought, making them incredibly fast. They also required relatively little Spiritual Power, yet their might was immense—far beyond that of any acquired Magic.
By the time Luo Feifei woke up, it was already dark. The two of them headed into the small town to find some local Vietnamese food.
The charred aroma of lemongrass-grilled fish wafted from the food stalls in the twilight. An old woman in a conical hat stirred a pot of pho broth with a long-handled copper ladle, the shapes of star anise and cinnamon bark rising and falling in the steam.
Li Xiang and Luo Feifei picked a small shop that looked reasonably clean. They ordered fried spring rolls, fried fish cakes, beef pho, and a large fruit platter. The place was packed, so they had no choice but to sit at a table by the roadside.
They had chosen this shop not just because it looked clean, but mainly because it was crowded. As a rule, you were less likely to go wrong with a busy place.
About seven or eight minutes later, their food arrived, and the two began to eat.
Naturally, they couldn’t eat with their masks on. When Luo Feifei took hers off, a motorcycle driver slurping noodles at the next table suddenly choked, sending two silver streams of broth shooting from his nostrils. The sixteen-year-old’s radiant beauty seemed to make the surrounding lights dim in comparison.
Li Xiang frowned. ’Does he have to be so dramatic?’ he thought.
Luo Feifei leaned in closer, whispering with a smile, "Jealous?"
Li Xiang felt the urge to discreetly shoot out a sliver of Cold Ice Sword Qi and teach the sleazy driver a lesson. But he immediately noticed many other people looking their way and decided against it.
He couldn’t possibly teach every single one of these gawkers a lesson, could he? That would seem a bit petty.
’Luo Feifei really is the nation’s sweetheart, just as they say,’ he thought. ’And that’s even with her wearing a hat and sunglasses.’
Some people nearby were whispering in Vietnamese. Li Xiang and Luo Feifei couldn’t understand most of it, but then, they suddenly caught the gist.
Because one of them said to their companion, "Look, isn’t that beauty over there that huge star from China, Luo Feifei? The ’number one beauty in the universe’?"
Her companion replied, "No way. Someone of Luo Feifei’s stature is always surrounded by a huge entourage and tons of bodyguards. Why would she come to a little town like ours? If she were really here, all of Vietnam would be in an uproar. It’d be all over the news."
"Yeah, I’m so excited for her movie, *The Return of the Condor Heroes Movie Version*, coming out at the end of the year. I heard it’s supposed to be amazing."
Luo Feifei’s influence had long since spread beyond China’s borders, especially to countries like Vietnam that were heavily influenced by Chinese culture. You could often see people on the street singing Vietnamese covers of Chinese pop songs, and plenty singing them in the original Chinese, too.
Li Xiang and Luo Feifei couldn’t help but exchange a smile, because the person had said her name, "Luo Feifei," in Chinese. It’s not like she had a Vietnamese name.
"I think you’ve been recognized," Li Xiang whispered.
"It’s fine. Let’s just eat up and get out of here," Luo Feifei said, taking a bite of her spring roll. Inwardly, she felt a little smug.
The large fruit platter was a mix of lychee, jackfruit, longan, and coconut meat in coconut milk, with aiyu jelly, water chestnuts, and tapioca powder added in. It was sweet without being cloying. They shared it, feeding each other spoonful by spoonful, much to the envy of the onlookers.
A man thought to himself, ’I’d die happy if I could share a meal with a beauty like that.’
As they were leaving, a few local thugs started following them. But there was no way they could escape the notice of Li Xiang and Luo Feifei.
Li Xiang and Luo Feifei deliberately led them toward a secluded area. The men instantly grew excited and tailed them even more closely.
Once they reached a remote alley, the men could no longer contain themselves. They rushed forward and shouted, "Stop right there!"
But when Li Xiang and Luo Feifei turned around, they showed none of the fear the men expected. Instead, they both stared back with amused, playful looks.
"What’s so funny? Hand over the money, and the chick comes with us for the night!" The men pulled out daggers, and their leader barked the order in a cold, low voice.
Li Xiang sighed softly. "Alright. Since Feifei is here, I won’t take any lives today."
’If I were alone,’ he thought, ’I’d activate my Earth Magic and bury them all alive on the spot.’
Then again, if he’d been alone, they probably wouldn’t have tried anything. Tonight’s trouble was mainly because of Luo Feifei’s stunning beauty. They were after her, with robbery as an afterthought.
Even Li Xiang had trouble staying composed around her. So how could these low-life thugs possibly resist a superstar idol, a girl whose beauty drove countless fans wild the moment she appeared back in China?
With a flurry of desperate cries, the thugs were on the ground, scattered and broken. Li Xiang had broken both of their legs without using his Superpower or any advanced Martial Arts—just a few deceptively light punches and kicks were all it took to put them down.
His strength was immense; using just a tiny fraction of it was more than they could handle. Given their injuries and the state of medical care in Vietnam, they’d likely be cripples for life even if they recovered.
The two of them quickly left the scene and made their way to the outskirts of town.
Luo Feifei suddenly leaned in, her dark, glossy eyes glinting with mischief. "Brother Xiang, my hero, saving the damsel in distress... you were so handsome it shattered the heavens! This little lady has no way to repay you, so I can only offer myself to you in return~" The end of her sentence was drawn out, dripping with honey.
Li Xiang raised a hand and gently tapped her smooth forehead with his knuckles. He joked, "You’re just a kid who hasn’t even fully matured yet. We can talk after you’re a legal adult."
Luo Feifei froze, her cheeks flushing crimson. ’He knows I’m a ’White Tiger’?’ she wondered. ’Did he actually peek at me? But... no. If he had, I would have definitely noticed. Even though his Realm is higher than mine, my Insight Superpower has a warning function.’
Then, a flash of anger crossed her face. She puffed out her cheeks and kicked a stray pebble. "Hmph! That Jiang Cai’Er isn’t much older than me, and I see you’re plenty bold with *her*."
Li Xiang quickly changed the subject. He took her hand and said, "The coast isn’t far from here. Let’s use Earth Escape to get there."
Vietnam’s geography is long and narrow, only about fifty kilometers across at its narrowest point. Li Xiang’s Earth Escape could cover four to five hundred kilometers in an hour, so reaching the coast was a breeze.
Soon, the two of them arrived at the sea.
Vietnam has a coastline of 3,260 kilometers, yet it possesses very little territorial water. Fishermen could easily find themselves "leaving the country" if they weren’t careful.
Luo Feifei used her Divination to determine the general location of the Spirit Vein. Since the territorial waters were so narrow, it didn’t take long for them to find the special vein.
It was located two to three hundred meters deep on the ocean floor. As Li Xiang and Luo Feifei swam along the seabed, his Earth Vein Perception Ability detected it without him even needing to use Earth Escape.
So Li Xiang scooped up Luo Feifei, and with a flare of earthy-yellow light, they headed toward the special vein.
