Chapter 787: Pei Jianyuan’s Fear

Bai Hanyun looked up from her phone and grinned at Feng Xiyan.

Showing her phone to him, she replied, "Look at this number."

Feng Xiyan followed her words and looked at the number displayed on the phone screen. Unfortunately, he still had not learned modern numerical symbols and could not understand the meaning of those numbers.

Bai Hanyun looked at his confused face and remembered that Feng Xiyan did not understand modern numbers. She explained, "This is my bank account balance. Xiyan, we made almost sixty billion in one day!"

Looking at Bai Hanyun’s excited and joyful face, Feng Xiyan smiled and sincerely said, "Congratulations, Yun’er."

Seeing that he did not look excited, Bai Hanyun asked, "Are you not happy seeing these numbers?"

Feng Xiyan thought for a second before truthfully replying, "Those are only numbers to me. What matters to me is your happiness. As long as you are happy, I will be happy."

Sitting around the low table, Hua Yuyu and the others were forced to eat the dog food spread by Feng Xiyan.

Grimacing in pain, Bao Shengjie complained, "Ugh! Just go get a room, you two."

Hearing this, Bai Hanyun exchanged looks with Feng Xiyan for a moment before bursting into laughter.

Meanwhile, outside the Bai Feng Antique Store, a luxurious black car had been parked there for a long time before the grand opening ceremony.

Sitting in the passenger seat, Zu Wu looked at Pei Jianyuan through the rearview mirror. Looking at Pei Jianyuan’s unreadable expression as he stared at Bai Feng Antique Store, Zu Wu hesitated for a long time before finally speaking.

"CEO Pei, all the guests have already left. Do you want to go inside now?"

Pei Jianyuan neither answered nor reacted.

Just when Zu Wu thought that he had been ignored again, Pei Jianyuan suddenly asked, "Zu Wu, do you think she will recognize me?"

Zu Wu was not sure what kind of recognition he was referring to.

After a few seconds of thought, he carefully replied, "I’m not sure about that, CEO Pei."

Noticing that Pei Jianyuan’s expression turned gloomy at his answer, Zu Wu hurriedly added, "However, our ancestors once said that blood is thicker than water. I believe everything will be fine as long as we have the courage to keep moving forward."

Pei Jianyuan’s eyes flickered with fear and hope when he heard Zu Wu’s words.

After a long moment of silence, he finally said, "I’m going inside. You all stay here."

Hearing this, Zu Wu nodded. "CEO Pei, don’t worry. Miss Bai is an understanding person. As long as you explain everything clearly, she will accept you."

Listening to his encouraging words, Pei Jianyuan paused for a moment before getting out of the car.

Watching him walk toward Bai Feng Antique Store, Zu Wu clasped his hands together and sincerely prayed, "God, please let them reunite smoothly."

While Zu Wu was praying for his success, Pei Jianyuan pushed open the glass door.

Klining~!

As the crisp sound of the bell echoed throughout the store, a mechanical voice came from the speaker installed above the glass door.

"Welcome to Bai Feng Antique Store, dear customer."

Upstairs, Bai Hanyun and the others also heard the mechanical voice.

Standing up from the couch, Bai Hanyun put away her phone and said, "I will go and see the customer. You guys can just stay here."

Everyone was tired after standing for hours, so they agreed with her suggestion.

Seeing that Feng Xiyan was about to follow her, Bai Hanyun stopped him. "You should get some rest, too."

Without waiting for Feng Xiyan’s response, Bai Hanyun walked out and closed the door behind her. Arriving on the ground floor, Bai Hanyun saw a familiar face.

She raised her brows slightly and thought, ’Eh? Isn’t he the middle-aged man who married my mother? Why is he here?’

Feeling curious, Bai Hanyun decided to find the answer herself.

Putting on her business smile, she walked down the stairs and greeted Pei Jianyuan, "Welcome to my store, Sir. Are there any antiques here that catch your eye?"

Hearing this, Pei Jianyuan turned toward the source of the voice. The moment he saw Bai Hanyun walking toward him, his heart skipped a beat.

Noticing that he was staring at her intently, Bai Hanyun tilted her head slightly before waving her hand in front of him.

"Hello? Sir, are you alright?"

Coming back to his senses, Pei Jianyuan took a deep breath and quickly controlled his emotions.

After calming down, he looked at Bai Hanyun and introduced himself, "Miss Bai, my name is Pei Jianyuan. May I talk to you for a moment?"

When he said this, Bai Hanyun became even more curious about his visit.

’Looks like this uncle isn’t here to buy antiques. Could it be that he came to ask about my mother?’

With that thought in mind, Bai Hanyun made an inviting gesture and replied, "Of course. This way, please."

Walking ahead of Pei Jianyuan, she led him to the waiting area in the corner beside the floor-to-ceiling glass windows. This area had been prepared for customers to rest or wait while the staff helped them process payments and documents.

"Sir, please have a seat."

After gesturing for Pei Jianyuan to sit down, Bai Hanyun went to brew a pot of Purple Spring Tea.

Before long, she returned carrying a tray of tea and poured a cup for Pei Jianyuan.

Placing the cup in front of him, she sat across from him, pouring herself a cup of tea, and then asked, "Sir, what would you like to talk about with me?"

Pei Jianyuan watched Bai Hanyun take a few sips of tea before asking, "Miss Bai, do you know Bai Ruyan?"

The moment Bai Hanyun heard this, she thought, ’As expected. He really is here because of my mother.’

Putting down her teacup, Bai Hanyun smiled slightly at Pei Jianyuan before saying, "Before I answer your question, can you answer one of mine first?"
