Chapter 684: Chapter 684: These Two Feelings Cannot Happen at the Same Time
The man raised his eyebrows and looked at her, a hint of helplessness on his handsome face.
Was she only capable of thinking about finding evidence?
Hadn’t she considered that he might actually know more?
As Noah Drexler spoke, Summer Shawcross stopped in her tracks, her pale face showing a change in expression.
Only then did she suddenly realize...
Back then, when Noah’s mother took him away from the Drexler Family, they lived for more than ten years; during those years, he should be the one who knew his mother best.
Thinking this, a glimmer of hope appeared on her face, and she quickly turned around, looking at Noah expectantly as she asked.
"Then tell me, did your mother love Mr. Drexler?"
She looked at him with eyes full of curiosity, utterly sincere.
While she stared at him with wide eyes, eagerly waiting for an answer, Noah lowered his gaze, staring at her for several seconds.
A few seconds later...
He finally moved his thin lips and said to her coldly.
"No."
"..." Hearing his answer, Summer felt a pang of disappointment, had she been wrong all along, even though she thought her intuition was right.
Just as she was stunned and didn’t know what to say, the man’s deep voice sounded again.
"Summer, give it up, you won’t find any evidence." He gazed at her, his handsome face now filled with seriousness.
Listening to him, Summer felt another wave of confusion.
"Why? Did your mother say that?" she bit her lip, unable to resist asking.
Why was he so sure...
"That old man was the man my mother hated most in her life; she wouldn’t love him!" Noah said, pressing his thin lips together, his voice heavy.
The man she hated most...
Hearing Noah’s words, Summer paused for a moment, then shook her head a few seconds later.
"That’s not the same thing..."
Love and hate are fundamentally different.
Hearing her say this, Noah furrowed his eyebrows, his dark eyes clearly showing some confusion.
"Have you ever heard of being torn between love and hate? Some people do both, you know!" Though her experience with emotions was limited, she understood this.
Just like when she found out he was going to marry another woman, she felt angry, out of control, wanting to disappear and never let him find her again.
If he really married Autumn Duval, she couldn’t guarantee she wouldn’t hate him, but she couldn’t guarantee she wouldn’t love him either...
In her opinion, hating someone doesn’t necessarily mean not loving them; maybe that hate originally came from love.
...
"Torn between love and hate?" After hearing Summer’s words, Noah frowned even more.
That serious face was now filled with bewilderment.
He truly couldn’t understand what it meant to have both love and hate at the same time.
In his view, these two feelings wouldn’t occur simultaneously.
Seeing that he didn’t understand her meaning, Summer bit her lip and decided to seriously explain it to him.
"Um...let me explain, let me give you an example. Suppose you initially really love someone, but...later she betrayed you and went with another man, you’d definitely hate her." She explained earnestly, but didn’t notice that as she said this, the man’s expression beside her suddenly turned grim, becoming somewhat unpleasant.
