Chapter 935: Chapter 699: An Employee Even Nick Fury Wants to Fire!
Life is always that unpredictable.
At some point, the sky had also filled up with dark clouds.
As an employee personally fired from Stark Industries by Tony Stark, Uehara Naraku’s treatment was self-explanatory; he’d even been publicly criticized as a negative example.
Facing such a toxic workplace, Uehara could only carry his own box and leave Stark Tower—this had to be the worst possible opening in any world.
Of course, it wasn’t like Uehara was homeless.
Uehara thought for a moment, then immediately pulled out his phone and dialed a number he hadn’t called in a long time: "Hello, Director Fury, this is Level 7 agent Uehara Naraku.
I have something to report: I was just fired by Stark Industries. Tony Stark might be suspecting that I’m a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent..."
Yeah.
Uehara Naraku wasn’t just an employee of Stark Industries; he was also a Level 7 agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. That rank wasn’t especially high, but it was definitely not low either.
The main reason was that Uehara had always had pretty solid combat ability—he could even match Natasha Romanoff and Clint Barton in hand-to-hand.
S.H.I.E.L.D.
One of the most important organizations in the entire Marvel world.
After Uehara Naraku arrived in this world, he infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D. through another organization hidden within it, and his promotions had gone very smoothly.
Right now, the person Uehara Naraku was contacting was none other than the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Nick Fury, the one who’d arranged for him to go undercover in Stark Industries.
"Relax, he doesn’t suspect anything..."
On the other end of the line, Nick Fury sounded a bit helpless.
Because after Uehara Naraku got fired by Tony Stark, Nick Fury had already heard about it from another agent hidden inside Stark Industries.
Honestly...
This particular agent, Uehara Naraku, really left Nick Fury speechless. A dignified Level 7 spy getting fired for slacking off and playing games during work hours...
If one day Tony Stark found out that S.H.I.E.L.D.’s agents were all like Uehara Naraku, would S.H.I.E.L.D. still be worth trusting?
And Uehara Naraku really was way too lazy...
If it weren’t for his overpowered combat skills, Nick Fury would have been tempted to kick him out of S.H.I.E.L.D. too. How had the people downstairs even recruited this guy?
After silently ranting about Uehara Naraku for a while, Nick Fury still had to comfort his emotionally wounded subordinate: "All right, this isn’t entirely your fault. Maybe in our future agent training curriculum, we’ll need to add a module on how to go undercover in a large corporation. Being too good easily raises suspicion, but being too useless..."
Here, Nick Fury’s words cut off abruptly, and he shifted to another topic: "But you getting fired isn’t necessarily a bad thing..."
At the very least, for the time being Stark Industries wouldn’t suspect the competent employees.
Which just so happened to give another practically perfect, all-round S.H.I.E.L.D. agent—Natasha Romanoff—room to fully shine.
"My mission was forced to end."
Uehara Naraku stretched lazily and let out a soft sigh. "So do I report back to headquarters now or go on with my vacation?"
"You really didn’t screw up on purpose just to get a vacation?"
"Director, you should have faith in my character..."
"Then report back to HQ and stand by for orders!"
Nick Fury hung up directly.
S.H.I.E.L.D.
Director’s office.
The Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Nick Fury, was a bald Black man.
After hanging up on Uehara Naraku, Nick Fury couldn’t help scratching his scalp. "Who the hell was it that recruited Uehara Naraku...?"
"That guy is so lazy he doesn’t even like to think."
The stunning woman standing in front of his desk furrowed her brows, thought for a moment, then still spoke up in defense of her colleague: "But we have to admit, Uehara Naraku’s hand-to-hand combat ability is downright terrifying."
"If not for that, he would’ve been fired long ago..."
Nick Fury shook his head with a sigh and looked at the woman in front of him. "Special Agent Romanoff, from here on out, the mission to make contact with Tony Stark is all on you..."
Meanwhile.
Uehara Naraku put away his phone in resignation.
Ever since he’d entered this world, he’d almost never been in a good mood, because this world’s power level far outstripped all the previous ones.
Fortunately, his own power hadn’t fallen too far behind.
And because the Black Hole Universe in his body had reined in countless worlds, he’d received quite a few buffs from it; his current abilities were practically hitting the ceiling.
Uehara Naraku
World Power: 1,000,000,000
Life Energy: 1,000,000,000
Spiritual Energy: 1,000,000,000
Soul Energy: 1,000,000,000
After reaping the Bleach World, Uehara Naraku had finally received the feedback brought by the Black Hole Universe—or rather, the Bleach World had filled some of the Black Hole Universe’s gaps.
Because of that, some of Uehara Naraku’s power had also been released.
If you calculated it carefully, when Uehara Naraku used more than a tenth of his total energy, he could blow apart a planet. That was the result of a hands-on test.
This level of power...
Should be enough to casually hold an Infinity Stone in his bare hand?
Uehara Naraku slowly shook his head, feeling a faint emptiness in the world. Besides this planet-busting combat power, did he even have anything else in this world?
Well, yes.
He also seemed to own a car.
When Uehara Naraku found his pickup parked in a street parking spot, sudden cheers and exclamations came from the people around him; everyone nearby was craning their necks to look up at the sky.
In the sky.
A red figure streaked across...
It’s that guy Tony Stark again...
Uehara Naraku glanced at his own pickup truck, then looked up at the Iron Man armor soaring through the air. Why was that guy still so happy after firing him?
"Seriously..."
Uehara Naraku sat down in the driver’s seat of the pickup, slowly raised his finger, and muttered under his breath, "You really shouldn’t go out casually on a rainy day..."
The sky was thick with dark clouds...
Drizzling rain began to fall.
Tony Stark, piloting the Iron Man armor in the sky, didn’t care in the slightest about a little rain like this.
He’d just pulled a prank-firing on some slacker employee, then watched Pepper Potts fluster and blush in front of him; he was in the best mood.
The AI Jarvis detected the weather outside and kept reminding Tony Stark nonstop, hoping he would quickly lower his altitude.
"Sir, the weather is extremely bad..."
"Jarvis, don’t worry about it!"
Tony Stark glanced at the display inside the armor, a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth, and casually explained, "Weather like this is nothing..."
Crack!
A bolt of lightning struck the Iron Man armor!
A single lightning strike alone could never really damage the armor, because Tony Stark had already prepared for this; he’d added electrostatic discharge units and surface armor capacitor absorbers to the tail section.
Thunk!
The sound of a hailstone slamming into the armor was especially loud!
For something flying at high speed, even hitting a ping-pong ball is dangerous, let alone a fist-sized hailstone!
The force of this hailstone was no joke; it made Tony Stark instinctively twist his body to bleed off the massive impact!
The next moment...
A dense barrage of fist-sized hailstones came crashing down!
Even with the Iron Man armor’s superior protection, it couldn’t prevent collisions with hail at high speed—especially when those massive hailstones grew incredibly heavy under gravitational acceleration!
"Is this a joke?"
Tony Stark’s expression stiffened slightly as he hastily began decelerating the armor, trying to maintain his balance in the air. "Is today’s weather really this bad?"
"The forecast shows clear skies for the next twenty-four hours."
Jarvis’s tone remained utterly calm.
"Then they’re completely useless..."
Tony Stark’s face was starting to look a bit ugly.
Unfortunately...
The nasty weather clearly had no intention of letting him off.
Countless hailstones poured down from the sky, making the Iron Man suit rock back and forth like a little boat in a storm, until two of the flight thruster assemblies were directly damaged and the whole man tumbled out of the sky...
Tony Stark landed on a beach. He’d anticipated this kind of scenario; the armor could shield him from most of the impact.
Not so lucky was...
With the armor damaged all over and its energy drained, Tony Stark couldn’t get in touch with his AI Jarvis at all. He had barely taken off the helmet portion when a few smaller hailstones smacked him in the face...
"At least I still have my phone..."
With his face bruised and battered, Tony Stark took a deep breath and carefully pulled out his phone, feeling a bit satisfied as he checked the battery level.
Fortunately, he’d only used it earlier to mess with that slacker employee named Uehara, so there was plenty of charge left. Tony Stark could easily call Jarvis or Pepper to come pick him up...
As luck would have it...
A hailstone dropped from the sky and nailed his phone dead-on.
"This goddamn weather..."
The relief on Tony Stark’s face vanished without a trace. Out here on what looked like a deserted beach, what was he supposed to do now?
An hour later.
Tony Stark finally made it to a roadside and waited for passing cars to stop. He was fully confident he could talk any car into giving him a ride.
Everyone knew he was Iron Man!
Everyone knew he was a billionaire!
Even in a sorry state like this, Tony Stark still wore a luxury watch on his wrist, worth enough to buy a sports car!
However...
There were no sports cars on this stretch of road.
After Tony Stark had been waiting by the roadside for two or three hours, swaying on his feet with exhaustion, he finally saw a pickup truck speeding along, blasting deafening music, its driver humming some unknown tune under his breath...
"This is just the start~ just the very start~"
In that moment...
Tony Stark felt like he’d spotted his savior. He hurriedly waved his arms at the pickup, hoping it would stop in front of him!
Luckily...
The pickup’s owner had a kind heart.
Not so lucky was that when Tony Stark saw who was sitting in the driver’s seat, his expression went a bit stiff.
This guy...
Looked a lot like the slacker he’d fired earlier today.
