Chapter 398: 398 MCU 73

"I need to report this to my superiors quickly."

Rhodey hurriedly began making calls somewhere.

"Then I think I’ll go subdue Hydra."

"Please do."

Thor, apparently seeing no need to fight Rhodey any longer, spun Mjolnir and moved off to deal with Hydra.

I also moved to another spot, where Bruce and Jess were arguing, and in front of them, Wanda was sighing in frustration, looking at them helplessly.

"We need to take a hard line against Hydra! Look at them right now—we don’t know what they’ll do next, and they’ve created this many super-soldiers again! If we don’t root them out this time, there’s no telling how many more they’ll produce."

"Even so, there’s no need to fight by killing mercilessly. If we do that, we’ll end up no different from Hydra."

"Like Tony said, we’re different from them. Hah... I never thought we’d disagree like this. We’re sleeping in separate rooms from now on!"

"Wait a minute! Jess, what does that have to do with sleeping in separate rooms!?"

Bruce had said he was going to stop the Avengers’ infighting, but instead, he was fighting even more.

From what I overheard, it seemed Bruce and Jess had been living together all this time.

I hadn’t known that.

They must have quietly set up a home together without telling the rest of us.

Since Bruce and Jess both earned a lot, it made sense.

Anyway, I stopped their argument as well.

"Hold on! Separate rooms aren’t the issue right now—Hydra is colluding with North Korea, and a war could break out! Save the couple’s quarrel for later!"

"Wha, what? A war?"

"Yeah, you saw it too. That many of the super-soldiers are Asian."

I briefly explained to Jess about the North Korean soldiers and what the Captain had said.

Jess ultimately had no choice but to stop fighting.

"Then... what should we do now..."

"We need to subdue as many Hydra operatives as possible and gather evidence. That’s why I’m saying now isn’t the time to fight."

"R, right..."

Bruce then flashed a cheeky smile and gestured for Jess to come along.

Jess also chuckled at Bruce’s expression and went with him to subdue Hydra.

They really were a loving couple, even when they fought.

"As expected, when Jin comes, things seem to get resolved."

When Wanda said that, I asked her,

"By the way, shouldn’t you go check on Pietro?"

"Pietro was relatively easy to persuade—he’s subduing Hydra now. The problem is Tony and the Captain... Natasha and Cosmo went to stop them, but I’m not sure how that turned out."

"I’ll go there. You help the others subdue Hydra. The National Guard will be here soon, so you don’t need to lock them up—just subdue them for now."

"Got it."

I immediately moved to where the Captain and Tony were fighting.

But the Captain wasn’t fighting Tony—he was fighting Spider-Man, and Tony was nowhere to be seen.

Natasha and Cosmo were also absent.

"Why are you fighting the Captain here? I told you to catch Hydra."

When I arrived and asked, Spider-Man stopped fighting and jumped over to me, starting to explain.

"Mr. Stark told me to. He said the Captain had gone crazy and to stop him."

"That’s not true... He’s not crazy. They just have different opinions."

"Is that so?"

At that moment, the Captain also slung his shield on his back and asked Spider-Man,

"Hey, kid. Where are you from?"

"Queens."

What the Captain had asked was what organization he belonged to, not where he was from, but Spider-Man answered the area where he operates.

So I had to correct him.

"This kid is an Avengers intern hero."

"Ah, so a rookie."

"Right. Anyway, you’d better stick with me. Tony might tell you to do something weird again."

Spider-Man looked surprised and asked,

"Huh? Does that mean... the Captain isn’t crazy, but there’s something wrong with Mr. Stark?"

"No, that’s not it either. He’s just become more extreme because of revenge."

The Captain also chimed in,

"Jin’s right."

"More importantly, where did Tony go?"

"He got a call and flew off somewhere."

Tony must have heard the situation from Rhodey.

"I see. And Natasha and Cosmo?"

"They tried to stop them at first, but then said ’This is a waste of time, just fight each other as much as you want’ and left. No matter how much they tried to stop him, Tony kept attacking, so I guess they went to catch Hydra instead."

After hearing the explanation, I took Bucky out of my inventory.

The Captain was surprised and quickly checked on Bucky’s condition.

"Bucky! Are you okay? Bucky!"

"Don’t wake him up now. It’ll only complicate things. And Wakanda has the technology to fix Bucky. I’ve already asked them, so you can take him there. I’ve also disarmed the bomb, so don’t worry."

I briefly explained the current situation and about Wakanda.

If he wasn’t careful, he might crash his ship into the barrier surrounding Wakanda, so I told him to contact them first before going.

"Thank you, Jin. I’ll definitely repay this debt."

The Captain thanked me sincerely.

"Friends don’t need to do that. And since Secretary Ross and the National Guard will be here soon, take the wanted members with you too."

"Got it. And one more favor—tell Eleanor about this too. I won’t be able to go home for a while, so please take care of Emilia."

"Okay."

With that, the Captain slung Bucky over his shoulder and quickly moved to the Aurea.

"What should we do now?"

"Clean up the rest. And this matter is a secret from Tony. Just tell him they got away."

"Okay."

I used my [Hacking] ability to erase the previous conversation from the suit’s drive.

Since Tony had made the suit, all video was recorded.

Spider-Man and I moved to subdue Hydra, but there wasn’t much left for us to do.

The other members had already subdued a significant number of super-soldiers, and many of them were dead—their bodies were piled up in one spot.

The Captain’s team had already received orders from him and had left.

"Ugh... I’ve never seen anything like this. It’s hard to look at."

Peter was still young, so the sight of so many bodies was difficult for him.

"Once you graduate and work as an Avenger, you’ll see worse. If it’s too much, you can go rest on the ship. I’ve already registered you, so you can board without any issue."

"Really? I can actually get on the Odyssey?"

"Yeah."

"Okay then. I’ll just go look around the ship."

Spider-Man was thrilled at the chance to board the Odyssey and quickly used his web-shooters to fly over.

While we were cleaning up for a while, the National Guard and Secretary Ross finally arrived.

Tony and Rhodey were having a very serious conversation with Secretary Ross.

"Super-soldiers being produced in North Korea is a huge problem. A war could break out."

"I need to report this to the President. More importantly, have all the super-soldiers been subdued? The presence of North Korean soldiers will be crucial evidence."

As Tony and Ross spoke, Rhodey brought up the Captain.

"In the end, the Captain was right."

"Enough about the Captain! I admit he was right, but that doesn’t justify his methods."

From their conversation, it seemed Tony still hadn’t reconciled with the Captain.

As for the Hydra situation, about 40 were dead and roughly 70 had been subdued.

The rest had already escaped.

It was impossible to catch that many with so few people.

Still, thankfully, they had captured many of the North Koreans.

It seemed Hydra had used them as disposable pawns.

"Jin! It looks like these guys had poison pills in their mouths! Some have already killed themselves! Wanda and Cosmo are frantically using telekinesis to remove them, but..."

As Natasha urgently shouted, several of the captured super-soldiers foamed at the mouth and collapsed.

Thud! Thud!

"Oh no..."

But not all of them chose death—some hesitated, some were too scared.

So I quickly persuaded them in Korean, saying things like "Don’t you want to see your family again?"

The remaining ones eventually shed tears, gave up on suicide, and spat out the poison pills themselves.

"You should have just let more of them die. Holding them will just waste taxpayer money."

Secretary Ross, watching the scene, said bluntly.

I frowned at his words and replied,

"It seems we really don’t get along. And by the way, do you know that I pay the most taxes in this country?"

"Of course I know. But as you know, operating a prison to hold people with special abilities like super-soldiers costs a lot of money. Complaints are already pouring in from all over. More importantly, what about the people accompanying the Captain? Didn’t you catch them?"

"We prioritized Hydra over them, so don’t blame us. And Rumlow was taken by Wakanda."

At that, Secretary Ross frowned.

"So you let all the key figures escape."

"You keep treating the Captain’s team like criminals, but the Captain was the first to uncover the connection between North Korea and Hydra. Given the circumstances on the ground, you can’t keep taking that line from the top."

"We have our limits too. That’s why you should have operated within the rules from the start."

Secretary Ross responded firmly to my words.

It was true that the Captain had attacked UN agents while trying to protect Bucky, so it was hard for me to defend him further.

"How will you respond to North Korea?"

"The President will decide, but I hope we can teach that rogue nation a lesson this time."

"A war would kill many people. And starting with North Korea, it could escalate into World War III. That might be exactly what Hydra wants."

"We can’t just let a country that attacked the U.S. get away with it."

Secretary Ross didn’t seem to care much if war broke out.

The thought that someone like him could become President in the future was quite unsettling.

I would probably keep clashing with Secretary Ross in the future.

’Geez... Motherfucker was actually easier to deal with in comparison.’

Deciding that further conversation with Ross was pointless, I gathered the members and boarded the Odyssey to return to base.

Jess, who had been on Tony’s team, also boarded with us—it seemed things had worked out with Bruce.

I had hoped this would also be an opportunity for the Captain and Tony to reconcile, but it was a bit disappointing.

"Everyone’s here. Did things go well?"

When we boarded, Spider-Man, who had been eating jellybeans at the snack corner, greeted us.

Natasha asked,

"Who’s this kid?"

"He’s an intern hero called Spider-Man. Tony discovered him operating in Queens."

"Intern?"

"He’s still young."

"Ah, a rookie."

After I briefly introduced Spider-Man, he shook hands and greeted the members.

"Nice to meet you. I’m Spider-Man. Natasha, you’re as beautiful as they say. Oh~ Dr. Banner, I’m a big fan. I even have a Hulk Striker figure. Wanda and Jess, you’re both gorgeous too. Hi, Cosmo~ Nice to meet you, Vision and Myo Myo. And Vulture, you look really cool."

Spider-Man’s energetic greetings, complete with gestures, made everyone chuckle.

"Like the boss said, he’s young. But he doesn’t seem like a bad kid."

Vulture’s assessment was amusing, considering in the original, he had been Spider-Man’s villain.

"Let’s head back. Do you want to come to the Avengers base? You can have a meal there too."

"Wow! Really? I’d love to."

Spider-Man was thrilled at the chance to visit the Avengers base.

We boarded the ship, left Damage Control, and arrived at the base, where we started eating a late lunch.

"The food at the Avengers base is great too."

Spider-Man pulled his mask up halfway to eat and devoured his meal eagerly.

"After you finish eating, come see me. I have something for you."

"Okay."

After the meal, Spider-Man and I headed to the hangar together.

I tapped on a newly made Talarian camper van and said,

"Take it. Instead of changing outside, you can change inside this, so you won’t be seen. It also has retro-reflective panels, so even if you leave it in the air, it won’t be spotted."

"Wow... I can really use this?"

"If you have questions, ask the AI. And even if something goes wrong, it’ll automatically return here, so repairs won’t be a problem. But don’t use it in combat—it has no offensive capabilities. Just think of it as a mobile base."

Spider-Man was overjoyed to receive the Talarian camper van.

I’d actually been thinking of giving him one for a while.

In areas without tall buildings, he lacked proper transportation, and he had to change costumes outdoors every time.

Having the Talarian camper van would be a huge help to him.

"Got it. But since I’m here, can I look around the base a bit more?"

"Yeah. When you leave, you can take that."

"Okay."

After helping Spider-Man register the Talarian and briefly explaining how to use it, I moved back to where the other members were.

"So what happens now? What are we going to do about the North Korea issue?"

The members had finished eating and were resting when Bruce noticed me and began discussing the future plans.

"We should decide based on how the U.S. government responds. There’s nothing we can do right now. We could infiltrate North Korea to catch Hydra, but if we mess up, that could become a pretext for war."

"This is tough..."

"For now, everyone should rest until the U.S. government responds. You all worked hard today."

"Okay."

I also informed the members about Rumlow, Bucky, and the Captain.

I added that officially, Wakanda had taken Rumlow.

Fortunately, everyone seemed to understand and accept it.

A day after that, the White House suddenly summoned me—probably because of the Hydra and North Korea situation.
