Chapter 1090: Chapter 1090: I Can’t Live Without You
"Stella? Why are you here?"
Stella Charlie turned her head upon hearing the voice, saw Vincent Warner, and then turned back to wipe away her tears.
Vincent walked up to her, roughly understanding the reason for her tears.
"Who brought you here?"
Stella stood up, looked at him and asked, "If I hadn’t come, how long would you have kept lying to me?"
"Stella, some things aren’t the way you think."
"If you can’t refuse your family’s arrangements, then you shouldn’t have made any promises to me."
Vincent used his hand to wipe away her tears, explaining, "I will take care of these things, just give me some time, give me some more time, okay?"
Stella bit her lip, suppressing her cries, keeping her head down as tears continued to fall.
"I’ll take you back; this place isn’t suitable for you."
Stella freed her hand from Vincent’s grip, looked at him with blurry tears and said, "Let’s... break up."
Vincent’s expression turned gloomy: "Don’t say things in anger."
Stella took a deep breath and said, "I’m serious. Let’s separate for a while. If you truly love me, I can wait for you to resolve your family’s matters, then we can be together again."
"Stella, I can’t live without you." Vincent’s eyes were full of deep affection and sorrow, causing Stella’s firm resolve to soften and waver.
He cautiously pulled her into his arms, his palm resting on the back of her head, letting her lean into his chest: "Trust me, okay? I won’t let you down."
Stella was crying so hard she couldn’t catch her breath, hearing the plea in Vincent’s tone, all the hard words swallowed back down.
Vincent was practically the only warmth she had left in this world; she had some selfish thoughts, fancifully hoping that if they toughed through this time, happiness would come.
But until this matter was fully resolved, Stella always felt there was a crack between her and Vincent that could collapse anytime.
Even if both of them pretended there was no distance and didn’t mention it, Stella could no longer stay peacefully by his side.
She often woke up from dreams, reaching out to feel whether his presence was still there on the bed next to her.
She seemed to have become a bit pathological, the increasingly insecure love making her stubbornly feel that a lone boat amid stormy seas could still find a harbor to weather the storm.
During this time, Vincent’s emotions became rather unstable. He would still reach out to her physically, kissing her, embracing her, gently stroking her hair, whispering her name in her ear.
But he would often leave her alone in the room after being satisfied, going to the balcony alone to smoke.
Stella didn’t know what was happening; she just felt that the person clearly by her side seemed to be getting farther away.
She began to wonder if Vincent really was how Chloe Swift described, holding her with a tenuous promise only until he met someone younger and more beautiful, then abandoning her.
And by then, she would have no choice but to leave heartbroken.
Stella had already prepared for the worst in her heart, knowing that even if she and Vincent didn’t end up together, she would try to accept it calmly, as after all, before meeting him, she had nothing.
These times, for her, could be counted as fleeting happiness and warmth.
Clearly, she had gained something, but thinking of their possible separation, tears still streamed uncontrollably into the pillow as she lay in bed.
