Chapter 1072: Chapter 1072: I’m Not in a Relationship

Stella Charlie didn’t immediately understand the meaning behind Vincent Warner’s words.

She had a vague feeling that Vincent’s words seemed like a reproach, and possibly... jealousy?

This thought startled Stella, leaving her looking at Vincent in shock, unsure how to react.

Stella’s silence led Vincent to mistakenly believe she was acquiescent. He stood up and approached her, his tone calm yet infused with his unique aura of intimidation: "It seems you’ve forgotten what I told you."

Stella snapped back to reality, the hair on her back standing on end, her grip on the bubble tea involuntarily tightening: "...I’m not in a relationship."

"Then is he pursuing you?"

Stella took a moment to react, guessing who Vincent meant by "he."

After all, the only person she had slight contact with was Kai Jacobs.

"He and I are just friends. Besides..."

Besides, even if she were in a relationship, it was her personal business.

She thought this in her heart but didn’t have the courage to voice it.

After all, the expenses for her studies were fully covered by Vincent Warner. Vincent had mentioned that supporting her education was to cultivate her as a future asset for his company, so such doubts and concerns from him seemed reasonable.

"Besides what?" Vincent coldly pressed.

Stella pressed her lips together and shook her head, saying: "I’ve taken what you said to heart — I know what I should and shouldn’t do."

Vincent’s gaze occasionally glanced at the bubble tea in Stella’s hand, before he spoke after a pause: "Good, as long as you understand. It won’t happen again. Rest early."

Without waiting for Stella to say anything more, Vincent sidestepped her and went back upstairs to his room.

Upon hearing the door upstairs close, Stella suddenly breathed a sigh of relief.

She put the items she was holding back into her room before returning to the living room to tidy up briefly.

Looking at the suit jacket draped over the sofa, she hesitated momentarily before carefully picking it up.

She used a hanger to straighten it out, hanging it on a nearby rack.

She could faintly smell the unique scent of men’s cologne lingering on the clothes.

Stella closed her eyes, reminiscing about the time she was in the hospital.

Back then, she seemed to be looking forward to his appearance every day.

Just catching a whiff of this scent would put her at ease.

Despite knowing nothing about him, she would secretly anticipate more interaction with him.

Sensible enough to know some things shouldn’t be wished for, yet she couldn’t help but imagine and fantasize.

Just like the fleeting thought of "jealousy," which kept Stella awake thinking the entire night about whether Vincent could have feelings for her...

This dream was shaken off with the arrival of dawn.

As she had to go to the café for her part-time job, Stella didn’t let the weekend keep her in bed.

After getting up early and going downstairs, she saw Vincent standing outside the balcony in the living room, smoking.

He always seemed to be troubled by something.

Stella hesitated before approaching him from behind. Vincent seemed to hear footsteps and turned to look at her wordlessly.

She wanted to ask him what was wrong but feared he might think she was being meddlesome.

Changing her words as they reached her lips, she said: "Well... I’m heading out now."

"Mm."

His response was indifferent, so Stella didn’t say more.

After heading downstairs, Stella looked up in the direction of the balcony above, noticing Vincent still standing there, seemingly looking at her.

Too afraid to verify, Stella quickly averted her gaze and walked briskly away, her head down.
