Chapter 352: Chapter 352: With a Thud, She Stumbled to Her Knees
Cecilia Vaughn looked coldly at the middle-aged woman in front of her, a wave of impatience spreading from her heart.
"A good dog doesn’t block the way, thank you."
Cecilia was known for being a solitary person, and soon after arriving at Stellerton University, she earned the title "ice queen." However, despite her cold demeanor, no one had ever heard Cecilia curse!
And she was cursing at an elder who was a decade older than her!
...
Many classmates stared at each other in surprise, and some curious individuals couldn’t help but start discussing their relationship.
In an unnoticed corner, a young man wearing a mask and wrapped up tightly took out his phone and secretly captured the scene.
Florence Warner exchanged a glance with the man, who signaled an "OK" gesture to her, and then quickly shifted her gaze to Cecilia.
"Cecilia, if you make me leave like this, Auntie will be truly heartbroken..."
Florence’s chest heaved dramatically, her expression one of abject misery.
"They all say being a stepmother is difficult. Though I’m not your real mom, haven’t I done enough to raise you over the years?"
"You seized the family house and recently had people throw your father and me out on the street. Is this really okay?"
"Cecilia, one must act with conscience!"
Florence disregarded her image entirely, crying with both snot and tears.
Her words were filled with intense emotional distress.
Cecilia, however, simply let her perform, her eyebrows knitting coldly.
"Have you said enough? If so, leave quickly, I have class."
Without waiting for Florence’s response, Cecilia resolutely shook off the arm attempting to grab her and strode towards the teaching building.
Missing The Iron Nun’s lecture was not an option. Compared to squabbling with Florence, attending class was far more peaceful.
Florence’s face turned pale, tears streaming down her cheeks in a messy state.
"Cecilia, I’m begging you...don’t go..."
...
The surrounding students were quite shocked when Florence claimed to be Cecilia’s stepmother.
Everyone began to discuss it intensely.
"No way? Although Cecilia usually acts a bit proud, her family is actually this complicated?"
A girl envious of Cecilia’s beauty tutted twice contemptuously.
"Wow, big news! It’s true that you never truly know someone! The art department’s belle, chased by countless boys, but what’s the use of being beautiful? She can even kick out the parents who supported her education!"
"I also think Cecilia is a bit too much. Even if she’s not your biological mother, there’s no need to treat her like an enemy, especially when her father was kicked out too..."
A boy from Cecilia’s class weakly defended her.
"Um... could there be some hidden story? And if Classmate Vaughn can take the house, could it be that the house was originally hers? Or belonging to her biological mother’s side?"
"Bah, even so, she shouldn’t just kick her biological father out, right? Blood is thicker than water, but you never see such a heartless daughter..."
The previous lack of denial from Cecilia regarding the house-grabbing topic clearly implied acceptance of the facts. Witnessing Cecilia’s indifferent departure only fueled their eagerness to morally condemn her.
By now, she was gone, but Florence remained crying at the scene, and when a girl who couldn’t bear it walked over to her.
"Auntie, don’t cry... Can you tell us the story of how you and your husband were forced out by Classmate Vaughn?"
Florence’s face turned pale, biting her lip with a saddened expression that seemed torn between grief and not wanting to expose family issues.
"No... This is between Cecilia and me. I want her to explain it herself..."
Everyone was speechless.
Seeing no way to dig deeper into the gossip, a short-haired girl who disliked Cecilia ventured forward.
"Ma’am, even if you can’t say the specifics, can you confirm that you and your husband were indeed kicked out? It’s not deception, right? Stellerton University is a prestigious school with a hundred-year history; we can’t tolerate such ungrateful students here."
"..."
Florence wiped away her tears twice, as if suddenly plunged into a state of helplessness and anxiety.
"Cecilia... she’s still young... Maybe it wasn’t intentional... Sob..."
"Though the child’s father and I have nowhere to live, I beg you, don’t expel Cecilia from school... She worked so hard to get into Stellerton University... If only I can talk to her, she’ll surely come to her senses..."
Although these words seemed to defend Cecilia, every sentence nailed her to the pillar of disgrace for kicking out her own father and stepmother and being talented yet lacking moral integrity.
The many students understood immediately, seeing Florence pleading anxiously for Cecilia, was there any need to say more about right and wrong?
The questioning girl was even more indignant.
"Auntie, why are you still speaking for Cecilia Vaughn!"
"What kind of shameless daughter is this! She doesn’t deserve to be at Stellerton University! Auntie, don’t be afraid; our school will support you and your husband!"
With tears in her eyes, Florence hurriedly grabbed the girl’s wrist in apparent desperation.
"No, no... Please, students, don’t ruin her academic career, she’s still young... Even when she was in high school she’d have little tantrums, just playing games with us..."
"She’s over twenty, already an adult, and you call that young?"
The more Florence defended Cecilia, the angrier the watching students became.
"Exactly! Is kicking someone out into the street just for fun? Have the principal put a disciplinary charge on her record!"
...
With various students gearing up to complain to the principal, just as they were about to proceed, urgent shouts suddenly rang out.
"Students, don’t do this, I’ll kneel and beg you not to ruin Cecilia’s life..."
Everyone turned back in shock, only to see Florence in tears, suddenly extending her knees as if to kneel down.
The leading girl was startled and hurriedly stopped her.
"Auntie, we’re not going! We’re not going! Please don’t kneel... We won’t report her anymore..."
"Thank you! Thank you!"
Florence gratefully watched them, but then her body seemed to suddenly go limp as she fell directly to the ground...
A car appeared out of nowhere, as its driver shouted.
"Oh dear, I saw this lady waiting here since early morning, could it be the cold that has gotten to her? What a tragedy! Even a stranger like me can’t bear it, hurry, let’s get her to the hospital!"
The car sped off quickly, with a few concerned students keeping pace to stream updates to their classmates.
Witnessing the small car depart, everyone became increasingly indignant.
"Damn, never seen someone as shameless as Cecilia Vaughn!"
"It’s true stepmothers have it hard; Auntie waited for her all morning until she fainted, and she dares to attend class!"
"I’m done with it, someone like her pollutes the air at Stellerton University, we must find the principal to force her to drop out!"
