Chapter 1265: Chapter 1260: A Belated Explanation

Evander Lancaster extinguished the cigarette between his fingers, tossing it into the toilet. Just as he turned around, he almost bumped into Sophia Hamilton who was about to enter.

...

"What are you doing here!" Coldly confronting Evander Lancaster’s almond-shaped eyes, Sophia Hamilton questioned, her pale face devoid of any emotion.

Evander Lancaster slightly furrowed his brows and said nothing, instead reaching out his hand to support Sophia Hamilton, but she pushed him away forcefully and hid her arm behind her back.

"If I don’t have amnesia, it seems like we’ve broken up."

Evander...

He raised his almond-shaped eyes again to look at Sophia Hamilton, his sigh evidently suppressing something.

Licking his lips, his handsome face showed no expression, "You’re physically weak right now, you should avoid getting upset, it’ll only lead to chronic issues."

"Whether I live or die has nothing to do with you anymore, please leave." Sophia Hamilton stepped back, letting him pass through the door.

Evander Lancaster sighed, looking at that indifferent little face, his hands hanging at his sides tightened slightly, "Please, don’t do this, okay?"

"Doctor Evander Lancaster, I would like to remind you of something: first, we’ve already broken up, so there’s no issue of causing a scene, and second, I’m a patient now, I’m very weak and need rest. Would you please leave?"

Evander Lancaster bit his lip, facing Sophia Hamilton’s indifferent eyes, he asked, "Doesn’t it hurt?"

Though it was a senseless question, Sophia Hamilton understood what he meant.

A slight arc formed at the corner of her lips, along with a soft laugh escaping through her nose, "Do you really think there’s such a great woman in this world? Willingly playing the role of both wife and mother!"

Meeting Evander Lancaster’s emotionless gaze, Sophia Hamilton added, "At least I can’t do it!"

Evander Lancaster said nothing more, locking eyes with Sophia Hamilton, he sighed lightly again, extending his arms to embrace her in a compromise, "I’m sorry... I was too harsh."

Evander Lancaster planted a heavy kiss on the top of Sophia’s head, continuing, "I hurt you, and I apologize."

Sophia Hamilton didn’t resist Evander Lancaster’s apology nor his embrace; naturally, she didn’t reciprocate either.

With her arms hanging at her sides, she spoke expressionlessly to the front, "I accept your apology, please leave now."

"Sophia, I didn’t mean it, it wasn’t my intention."

Evander Lancaster didn’t let go, because he knew how hurtful the word "leave" could be.

Initially, he didn’t quite realize it, but it was after receiving Felix Shaw’s call, hearing that she fainted on the street, the sheer panic and chaos of the moment struck him, and he suddenly realized that he truly can’t live without her.

"Hmm, I know, so please leave. I’m really tired now, let me have some quiet rest on my own, okay."

Sophia Hamilton’s voice remained calm and indifferent; perhaps great sorrow leads to a death of heart.

She admitted that not only does she bear grudges but is also quite obstinate, otherwise she wouldn’t have struggled in her career and needed her mother to use special means to help her find a stable job.

Evander Lancaster looked up and sighed, tiredly closing his eyes, "Sophia, let’s reconcile. Jayra, she... couldn’t bear it and attempted suicide by slashing her wrists. If it wasn’t discovered in time, she might not have survived."

"That’s your family business, it has nothing to do with me."

Sophia Hamilton was truly heartless, determined to shut off her heart and keep it closed.

"I know, I know," Faced with such a calm woman, Evander Lancaster felt inexplicably flustered, his long arms tightened slightly, as if a slight loosening would result in losing the woman he held.
