Chapter 1246: Chapter 1241: Her Former Appearance Is Etched Deep in His Heart

He’s doing this not just to give Sophie Foster a brand new identity, but more so as a form of protection for her.

Before ending the call, Nicholas Croft instructed, "Take care of yourself too. I’ll be back in about two months, and when I return, let’s have a brotherly reunion!"

"I will, big brother. We’re all waiting for you to come back."

Seeing Nathan Moore end the call, Titus Zane hurriedly approached and asked, "How is it? Is little Sophie really in critical condition? Didn’t they just say she lost the baby?"

Nathan knew his woman was too kind-hearted and was close to Sophie Foster, which could inadvertently reveal something. Not wanting Sophie to be in danger again, Nathan could only follow Nicholas Croft’s advice.

Placing the phone next to the pillow, he nodded gravely, "Uh-huh, there was nothing serious initially, but we missed the best treatment time, so..."

Nathan didn’t finish his sentence, but Titus understood what he meant, turned and sat on the edge of the bed, raising a hand to wipe away a tear.

Nathan sighed quietly, and as he lay back in bed, he pretended to frown and let out a hiss, prompting Titus to jump up, "What’s wrong? Did you pull on the wound again?"

...

In the United States, Sophie Foster completed her first cosmetic surgery, primarily a resurfacing procedure to smooth the uneven scars on her face. After some time to recuperate, she would undergo a second surgery.

When the gauze was removed, Nicholas Croft stood in front of the hospital bed, looking solemn.

As the doctor took off the last piece of gauze, Sophie Foster’s entire face was revealed.

Although not as horrifying as before, it still wasn’t as natural as a regular person’s; the taut muscles were a dark red, a residual after-effect.

To fully restore her skin to its former state, she would need a skin graft surgery.

"Uncle, I want to look in the mirror." Sophie Foster raised her hand to her now smoother cheek. Most of the time, she behaved normally, occasionally immersing herself in a world of fantasy, though such moments were rare.

Nicholas Croft handed her the mirror he had prepared, sitting down next to her.

Looking at her reflection, Sophie Foster’s fingers moved back and forth on her cheek, "How long until the second surgery?"

"The doctor said it could be done after another month of recovery," Nicholas said in a gentle voice.

"Can’t it be done now? Why wait a month?"

"Because some time is needed for recovery, Lara will be as beautiful as she used to be."

Sophie Foster turned her head to look at Nicholas Croft, "Really?"

Nicholas swallowed and, suppressing the difficulty in his heart, said, "Yes."

His large hand gently covered Sophie Foster’s cheek, softly rubbing. The feeling under his palm was no longer as plump as before; her cheekbones and jawline were pronounced, the chubby face he had nurtured was now a slender one.

Sophie Foster turned back to the mirror, although she remained silent, Nicholas Croft heard her sigh distinctly.

A month later, Sophie Foster underwent her second surgery, which lasted over ten hours. This time, Nicholas Croft wasn’t by her side; he sat in the corridor outside the operating room. When the door opened and the doctor wheeled Sophie out, Nicholas got up and approached her, looking at her bandaged face with only her eyes closed, her hands at her sides clenched slightly.

This surgery was a decision he made alone, without consulting Sophie Foster beforehand. No matter what she would look like now, her previous appearance was already deeply etched in his heart.
