Chapter 307: Chapter 304: Just Because You Are My Woman (17)

He looked at her. "That’s good."

Then he stood up. "Come with me."

He turned and led the way. Nora Ainsworth watched him, put down the watering can, and followed him into his bedroom.

He took off his suit jacket, leaving him in just a blue dress shirt.

He lay facedown on the bed. "Give me a massage."

Nora Ainsworth sat on the edge of the bed and began massaging him with both hands. Her pressure was just right, neither too light nor too heavy. As he felt her hands move back and forth across his back, his expression grew solemn. He wanted to say, ’I’m sorry,’ but he couldn’t bring himself to open his mouth.

It wasn’t because of his pride, but because he was afraid that if he said it, she would leave again.

"Have you seen the news about me online?"

Nora Ainsworth answered honestly, "You mean the news about you getting married? I saw it. Congratulations, Young Master."

He turned his head. "You’re really congratulating me?"

"Yes. A woman that beautiful is a perfect match for you."

He felt a tightness in his chest.

"Young Master, I was actually planning to resign today. Now that you’re here, I wanted to let you know. I’m planning to go back to my hometown. After all, I still have my mother to look after."

Quentin Grant froze. ’Go back to her hometown? Her mother?’

’Does she mean go back to Fravia? Didn’t her mother commit suicide by jumping off a building long ago?’

’Right. She’s completely forgotten about it now.’

"Where is your hometown?"

"Fravia."

Quentin Grant forced a smile. "What a coincidence. My hometown is there too. But the country is in chaos right now. I’d advise you to stay here for the time being."

"My mind is made up."

Seeing how stubborn she was, he felt helpless.

He was afraid that if she went back in her current state and the media exposed her, she would be overwhelmed.

"No!" he answered resolutely. "Don’t go back right now. Be good."

Nora Ainsworth stopped her hands. "Why should I be good?!"

"You dare to disobey me? You’ll have to bear the consequences."

Nora Ainsworth stood up. "Young Master, don’t be such a bully. Citizens have the right to freedom. I’m resigning. What right do you have to stop me? This is tyrannical behavior! Bear the consequences? Fine, I’ll bear the consequences."

He slowly sat up, a smile in his eyes. "Are you really willing to bear the consequences?"

"Yes!"

"Alright then." He raised an eyebrow, reached out and pulled her down, then rolled over to pin her beneath him, meeting her gaze.

"Get off me! What are you doing!"

"Making you bear the consequences." His hand reached for her face, and in an instant, he ripped off the silk scarf, revealing her full appearance.

Nora Ainsworth didn’t try to put it back on. She looked at him. "You recognized me a long time ago, didn’t you?"

"I knew it was you before I even saw you."

"No wonder. I walked right into a trap. After all this running around, I ended up in the wolf’s den."

He smiled. "Nora, after all is said and done, you’re destined to be by my side, because you’ve been my woman from the very beginning."

She no longer bothered to hide her feelings, scoffing, "Your woman? You have so many women, can you even count them all? Get off me, you make me sick."

To have the words "make me sick" used against him was a tremendous humiliation.

Quentin Grant’s eyes darkened. He casually lifted her shirt. She tried to stop him, but he pinned her hands.

The arrow was nocked and had to be loosed; there was no turning back.

He held her slender waist, and in doing so, naturally released his grip on her hands. That was a big mistake.

Nora Ainsworth bent her knees, then shot her legs out, instantly kicking Quentin Grant off the bed.

There was a THUD, followed by his muffled groan. She was about to run when she noticed he was lying motionless on the floor.

Nora Ainsworth called out softly, "Young Master?"

’He didn’t hit the back of his head and get seriously hurt, did he?’ she thought.

The more she thought about it, the more terrified she became.

She slowly walked to his side. "Young Master?! Are you okay?"

Still no response.

She knelt and turned him over, only to see him lying there with his eyes open, looking at her with a smile.

"You did that on purpose, didn’t you?!"

She tried to stand up, but he grabbed her hand.

He slowly got to his feet, wincing. "My arm is all bruised. You have to compensate me."

Nora Ainsworth snorted. "You’re so rich. What’s a little bit of pocket change from me to you?"

He boldly tucked her hair behind her ear. "I don’t want money. You can repay me with your body. I wouldn’t mind."

Nora Ainsworth slapped his hand away. "In your dreams!"

Quentin Grant chuckled. "Alright, go make some food. I’m hungry."

Nora Ainsworth left without looking back.

He thought about how he’d lost control just now and smiled faintly. ’Some people just have that kind of magic; you just want to be with them.’

’There doesn’t seem to be any special reason. If there really is a reason, it’s love.’

After making the food, she simply called out to him once and left.

Quentin Grant ate alone. But even though he was by himself, just the thought that she had made this with her own hands filled him with happiness.

After dinner, he headed to her quarters.

He found her folding her bedding. Folding bedding in the evening was not a good sign.

He knocked on the door.

Opening the door, Nora Ainsworth asked coolly, "What’s your deal?"

"No deal."

Nora Ainsworth was speechless. "You’re nuts!"

"Are you planning to use the cover of night to sneak away again? I already told you no."

"Can you stop being so crazy? I’ll go wherever I want to go. What right do you have to interfere with my personal freedom?"

"By the right of you being my woman."

Nora Ainsworth tried to shut the door, but he squeezed inside before she could.

"Grant! Don’t be so reckless!"

He was roguish and domineering. "If I’m not reckless, I won’t see you tomorrow. Nora Ainsworth, sit on the bed and listen to me properly. After I’m done talking, then you can talk!"

"Speak."

"My mother, Joel Chaucer, has been dead for a long time. She died in front of you. She jumped from a building because she had uterine cancer. And you, my woman, Nora Ainsworth... you used to be a college student. After dropping out, you joined Ethan Ellsworth’s film company, became his protégée, and starred in the hit drama *Love when the sun comes out*. Then, just last year, while we were together, you suddenly broke up with me. I refused to accept it. Later, you finally confessed to me that you couldn’t have children. You had a D&C, and the report revealed you had endometrial cancer. I sent you to Walsh for surgery. A side effect of the operation was that your memory regressed by several years. It’s all true. You can find reports about it online."

He spoke in a rapid rush, laying it all out. "The reason I won’t let you go back to Fravia is because Catherine Callahan—the woman who is said to be marrying me—has tried to harm you time and time again. She nearly made me lose you forever."

Nora Ainsworth was clearly unconvinced. "That’s a well-crafted story."

In truth, she had already looked at a calendar. The date showed that it was indeed two years after the time in her memory.

She had thought she’d misread it, but it was the same online.

It only proved that what was in her head wasn’t entirely correct.

But she didn’t want to believe him, even though she knew what he was saying was very likely true.
