Chapter 1707: Chapter 1707: His Greatest Weakness (1)
Gu Anjin saw his calm demeanor, his brows slightly tightened, "You know, you knew she came?"
"Yes, the servant called my assistant. I was in a meeting at the time, found out quite late." Yue Siqing sat beneath the table on the sofa, "What did she say to you?"
So that’s how it was, he never intended to let her meet his adoptive mother.
He was even a bit cautious, so when Mrs. Qin came, the servants would secretly notify him.
Gu Anjin found it a bit amusing. Just now, she even had a glimmer of hope, thinking that perhaps Yue Siqing might change his mind because of what his adoptive mother said.
After all, he could meet Sheng Wei because of his adoptive mother.
How difficult it must be to be with herself?
Now, hearing him say this, she realized that perhaps, with Mrs. Qin’s intervention, it was still impossible.
"It’s nothing." Gu Anjin smiled, acting nonchalant, "Just chatted a bit casually, no need to be so tense. Is everything done? Can we leave now?"
She didn’t want any external factors between them, just as she forbade her parents and brother from interfering between her and Yue Siqing.
So, she didn’t want Yue Siqing to accept her because of Mrs. Qin.
"Jinjin." Yue Siqing’s tone seemed to tighten a bit, with a hint of authority, "What did she come to talk to you about?"
"Why are you so nervous?"
"Pleading for Sheng Wei, or hoping for peace with the Sheng Family?" Yue Siqing said indifferently, "If that’s the case, there’s really no need to talk about it."
"Yue Siqing, did you fall out with the Sheng Family because of me, or were you just using me as an excuse?" Gu Anjin had thought about this question, only because Yue Siqing had previously clearly stated it was because of her.
But now, she felt that nothing was certain.
His deep blue eyes held her gaze for a moment, "What are you trying to say?"
"Just asking casually," Gu Anjin smirked slightly, "Just wanted to know, that’s all. Don’t worry, I won’t persuade you to let go of the Sheng Family and Sheng Wei."
"Don’t overthink it, everything’s packed, let’s go." Yue Siqing didn’t answer directly, "Jinjin, whatever my adoptive mother said, just pretend you didn’t hear it."
*
On the long flight back, Gu Anjin closed her eyes but couldn’t fall asleep.
The plane’s air conditioning was strong, and soon, a coat was draped over her.
She still didn’t open her eyes, pretending she didn’t know.
When they got off the plane, Arthur was already waiting outside the airport.
Seeing Gu Anjin returning empty-handed, Arthur widened his eyes, "You didn’t bring anything?"
"I left in pajamas, what else should I bring?" She shrugged, laughing as she walked forward, "Let’s go, I’m pressed for time."
A subordinate loaded Yue Siqing’s luggage, and the car swiftly sped out of the airport once they were in.
"Oh, right, Brother Arthur, take me to school." Gu Anjin lazily gazed out the window.
Arthur was slightly curious, "Heading back to school in such a hurry, not going home to rest?"
"Yeah." Gu Anjin didn’t elaborate, responding vaguely.
The car stopped at the school gate, and Gu Anjin got out and closed the car door. She heard Arthur ask again, "When should I pick you up? I mean, for dinner tonight, to celebrate your return?"
Gu Anjin turned her head, casually smiling, "No need, I have plans with friends tonight. Bye!"
Yue Siqing’s eyes suddenly turned cold for a moment, his lips tightly pursed as he watched her back.
