Monsters Wag Their Tails Only at Me
Monsters Wag Their Tails Only at Me

SUMMARY
I ended up possessing a character in a fantasy novel about the war between humans and monsters.
And of all people, I woke up in the body of Ceryl Aylos — the ruthless Monster Executioner.
…But I’m a veterinarian.
—
“Ceryl! You’re going to kill it yourself?”
“What nonsense are you talking about? Why would I kill it? Can you not tell a pain response from an attack response?”
The fact that I possessed someone didn’t matter. My misanthropy was already severe.
Humans could live or die — who cared?
But handling animals—no, monsters—carelessly? Absolutely not.
Following my veterinary instincts, I treated monsters with love and meticulous care.
Thus, Ceryl unintentionally became the first human ever to tame monsters.
And in the underground prison, he met Varen, a dragon kidnapped before hatching and tortured by humans for twenty years.
****
“…C-Could you… come a little closer?”
The request sounded so obviously suspicious that the dragon instinctively stepped back.
When Ceryl saw him move away, he felt sudden panic tighten in his chest.
No. Calm down.
He tried to steady himself, but the moment he looked at the dragon’s brilliant golden body, all reason disappeared. Greed — pure, eager fascination — took over.
Before he knew it, his hand shot between the bars, reaching toward the dragon like some villain in a horror movie.
“If you don’t mind… huff, huff… could I touch you? Just once?”
‘…What?’
“Your scales… those shiny scales… huff. Do you shed them on your own?”
Just imagining a huge reptile squirming around trying to shed by itself was enough to make him dizzy with excitement.
And that tail — that soft, chubby tail! How did the dragon sleep with it? Did he curl up around it? The thought nearly made Ceryl delirious.
The dragon retreated again, baring his teeth in warning — and between those gorgeous golden lips, Ceryl saw carnivore molars no reptile should ever have.
“…Ahh! Your teeth! Please — just once — let me see them!”
‘What on earth…’
“Are those baby teeth? Or adult teeth? How was your teething? Could I brush them for you? Please?”
The dragon’s tail swept past him and wrapped protectively around his neatly folded front paws.
The gesture was so unexpectedly adorable that Ceryl couldn’t process anything the dragon said afterward.
‘…Is there something wrong with your head?’
