Chapter 1184: Being Lazy
The next day swiftly arrived, and the morning sun poured through the window and into the room. Anthony’s eyes fluttered open as a yawn escaped his lips. Wrapped around his waist was Vega, who was lying beside him and cuddling him from behind.
Anthony turned his head ever so slowly to see her sleeping peacefully, her chest rising and falling in a calm rhythm.
’She must have arrived while I was asleep,’ Anthony thought to himself, as he hadn’t noticed her entering his room.
Of course, it wasn’t that his senses were dull whenever he was asleep. No, if it had been an assassin or anyone with ulterior motives, Anthony would have sensed them the moment they stepped foot into the Null Estate and reacted accordingly, whether he was asleep or not.
But this was Vega, the love of his life. His mind, body, and soul felt safe around her, whether she sneaked into his room in the middle of the night or not.
Anthony didn’t bother lifting her arm away from his waist, as the slightest movement would wake her. Instead, he simply switched places with a pillow that was behind Vega. The moment he appeared in his new location, he stood up from the bed and yawned as he stretched, looking no different from any ordinary person starting their day.
’She must have had quite a bit of fun and is a little tired,’ Anthony mused to himself as he turned to look at Vega’s beautiful face one more time.
His phone appeared in his hand, and he scrolled through every video and picture Vega had sent throughout the time he was asleep. Some showed the places she had visited, while others captured random moments from the evening. After going through all of them, he simply walked towards the shower and took a bath before sitting on the couch to wait for Vega to wake up.
It was still morning, and there was no need to wake her for any reason. Yes, they were supposed to meet Aura Nova and the boys later today, but it wasn’t as though they were going there this early in the morning.
A few hours passed, and Vega finally woke up. Her groggy purple eyes first landed on the pillow before shifting towards Anthony, who simply stared at her with a smile on his face.
"Good morning, sleeping beauty," Anthony greeted with a smile as he remained seated on the couch.
Vega stared at him for a moment before replying, "You could have woken me up, you know," she intoned as she sat upright on the bed, her long purple hair scattered perfectly on the bed.
Anthony smiled as he replied, "Not when you look that beautiful while asleep," his tone smooth and effortless.
Vega smiled as she shook her head. "You and your silver tongue," she said playfully and gently.
Anthony said nothing to that, as he had no comeback.
"It seems you had a lot of fun yesterday," Anthony spoke as he shifted the topic expertly.
Vega nodded as she replied, "I did. It was long overdue." She rose from the bed and made her way towards the bathroom as she took off her clothes.
Despite standing at the Planetary level and being capable of destroying entire Constellations, Anthony and Vega still maintained the habit of doing mundane things such as showering and eating, only relying on their Mana manipulation when the situation truly called for it. It was one of the few habits they had retained from their earlier years, and neither of them had any intention of abandoning it.
"So, how is Veronica then? I hope she is doing well," Anthony asked as he moved towards the bathroom door and leaned against the wall with his back while continuing the conversation.
Vega turned on the shower as she spoke, "She is perfectly fine. In fact, throughout the date last night, all she could talk about was her man, Lucian Darkheart. She was basically singing his praises every chance she got. If it were possible, she would split open my head and speak directly to my brain about him," she stated as she felt the warm water run across her body and hair.
Anthony simply chuckled and made no comment as he waited for Vega to continue.
"Besides, her talent seems to have skyrocketed, and now her Mana Ranks are far higher than before. Even her foundation is stronger than ever," Vega continued. "I guess Lucian really does know how to treat a woman," she stated in finality.
A small smile remained on Anthony’s face as he replied, "I’m sure he does. Besides, Veronica is happy, so I have nothing to say about it," his tone calm and relaxed.
Anthony knew that Veronica’s talent and Mana Rank had increased by leaps and bounds because of the Talent Pill he had given Lucian at the latter’s request after their spar, before they all vanished into closed door seclusion.
Anthony said nothing about it to Vega. He had no need to. However, if Vega asked, he would certainly tell her. On the other hand, if Vega truly wanted to know, she could have simply asked Veronica directly, as they were best friends. It seemed that she didn’t want to be nosy or pry into Lucian’s methods. After all, even Vega had one or two things she kept from Veronica, and it was only natural for Veronica to do the same.
But at this stage, Vega had no reason to hide the Human Bloodline Grade and her own awakening on her birthday from Veronica. There would be no real consequences if Veronica learned about it. Besides, Veronica’s talent had increased considerably now, making it much easier to tell her such things without concern.
"Most importantly, how is Altheria? This is her first time on the Blue Planet, so I hope she had a wonderful time," Anthony asked.
"She did," Vega replied as she turned off the shower. "There was hardly anything to show her since the Celestial Solar System has most of the things that we do, but Veronica and I were still able to make it work," she said calmly as she stepped out of the bathroom with a graceful stride, her hair damp from the shower.
"Sigh... I would have gone on a boys’ night out, but everyone seems so busy," Anthony stated as he pushed himself away from the wall and walked back towards the couch he had been sitting on now that Vega was back in the room.
"Aaaninja and Lucian might be busy," Vega began as she went through her usual morning routine, "but you can still have a boys’ night out with Reynold, Kingsley, and the rest," she suggested.
"Nah... I’m busy and have things to do," Anthony replied with a sigh and a shake of his head.
Hearing that, Vega paused and gazed at Anthony with a certain expression before slowly shaking her head.
The guy literally had all the time in the world, yet here he was claiming to be busy. Although the thought crossed her mind, Vega said nothing about it. She knew Anthony was simply being lazy and couldn’t be bothered, as always.
