Chapter 2472: Chapter 2448: The Ram Is Still the Same Ram
The operational environment is complex, typical urban warfare, with enemies possibly emerging from any direction; however, despite their small number, Satan’s people form a small yet unbreakable defensive circle.
The enemy dispersed into village homes to rest, and when combat suddenly erupted, Crown Forces attempted to rush out in units. Therefore, the initial battle wasn’t the most difficult part.
As long as Gao Yang is present, this type of fight to block enemy emergence will not seem particularly difficult, which is one of the clear distinctions between Satan and other teams.
Firing two consecutive shots, killing two enemies trying to climb onto rooftops, Gao Yang continued to hold his gun and slowly rotate until Eileen shouted loudly. Gao Yang immediately adjusted his direction quickly to search for the enemies she had spotted.
Four people appeared over the wall and began firing; Eileen managed to suppress one but the other three had already secured shooting opportunities.
The difficulty in urban warfare lies in bullets fired from any angle and at close range, leading to an inevitable fate of death or injury if one gets hit due to carelessness.
Gao Yang fired two shots quickly, bursting two heads and giving the enemy no chance to react or evade, while Peter accurately hit the third target, solving the crisis in this direction as soon as it appeared.
A brief tranquility appeared on the battlefield, with loud cries only being heard from unseen places, largely consisting of villagers’ screams.
At that moment, Gao Yang received Frey’s call.
"Calling Ram, calling Ram, team one has completed the operational objective. I repeat, team one has completed the operational objective and will advance from the northwest direction, over!"
Gao Yang said solemnly, "Team one, hold your position; there’s no need to rush into the village. Just contain the enemy and prevent their escape from your location, over."
Just after ending the call, a rocket was suddenly launched from a house nearly 300 meters away.
Unable to directly fire at Satan, the enemy naturally resorted to using indirect weapons. Nearby enemies couldn’t appear due to suppression, but those a bit farther away could find openings to fire rockets or rifle grenades, which couldn’t be stopped.
"RPG!"
A shrill yell rang out, a rocket exploding just over ten meters from Gao Yang. Though close, the rocket hit the building’s exterior wall that Gao Yang used for cover, leaving him unharmed.
Gao Yang immediately aimed his gun at the place from which the rocket was launched, also a building. Although he hadn’t identified the precise launch site, he believed the enemy might fire again.
To the south, east, and west were closely packed houses. The north held the prayer area where helicopters were stationed. The rocket had been fired from a residence towards the northwest, a relatively distant range. The enemy could counterattack from this angle, while no line of sight existed to target Satan from the closely packed southeastern and western houses unless the enemy emerged or climbed onto walls and rooftops.
Gao Yang aimed towards the northwest, waiting briefly. He caught a glimpse of red light on the edge of his night vision sight and quickly shifted his gun to target, firing at the instant the crosshairs aligned with the enemy.
The enemy stood behind the wall, exposing only his upper body, yet Gao Yang hit him accurately with this highly challenging shot.
The enemy fell from the wall; indeed, he had been preparing to launch another rocket. Just after Gao Yang hit him, a close-by explosion occurred.
The mortally wounded enemy had pulled the rocket launcher’s trigger; he didn’t blow himself up, but the rocket flew off course.
"Grenade!"
"Grenade!"
"Grenade!"
Several people shouted simultaneously, signaling grenade throws. Gao Yang didn’t have time to go prone; he instinctively crouched, curling his body before the series of explosions commenced.
The roaring explosions melded into one indistinguishable noise; it was impossible to count how many grenades had been thrown. After exploding, at least a dozen heads suddenly appeared at close range.
If Satan were a force with weaker combat spirit, slightly less experience, and lacked the courage to keep focus despite continuous grenade explosions, then this enemy grenade suppression would have succeeded.
Regardless of visibility, throwing a large number of grenades, using the explosions to suppress enemies momentarily, then emerging collectively to fire back, reversing suppression even if the grenades did not cause effective damage could change the situation.
Fortunately, Satan was exceedingly familiar with this common tactic in urban warfare, denying the enemy any chance of success.
Gao Yang fired rapidly.
Gao Yang always excelled as a marksman, achieving this distinction by reaching the limits of human ability in his expertisearea, extending his skills beyond the domain of a marksman into other areas.
He surpassed ordinary marksmen in accuracy and range, allowing him to fulfill the sniper role. Moreover, Gao Yang had faster reflexes and shooting speed, enabling him to serve as an assault role by switching guns.
Right now was the perfect opportunity for Gao Yang to showcase his skills.
Quick and consistently effective shots—never firing twice at the same enemy. Under Gao Yang’s aim, suppression and killing blurred because every shot dealt lethal damage, yielding optimal suppression results.
After a brief but high-density burst of rapid fire, enemy counterattacks were entirely quashed; within a mere dozen seconds, Gao Yang fired eight shots, each hitting its mark.
"Is anyone injured?"
The recent grenade assault was extremely intense, thrown blindly but still a possible cause of casualties. As the situation stabilized slightly, Gao Yang inquired.
"I’ve been hit by grenade shrapnel in the buttocks, just grazed the side to make a small hole. Some bleeding but doesn’t hinder movement, over."
Rafael quietly reported his condition; it was not too serious, only a slight wound that didn’t affect mobility, which was fortunate.
Gao Yang said quietly, "The enemies were coordinated to throw the grenades together, indicating their commander isn’t too foolish. Be cautious; the enemy may attempt another counteraction, over."
After speaking softly, Gao Yang continued, "Team two, report your status!"
Glolov replied urgently, "The enemy’s suppressive fire is strong! We’ve destroyed two helicopters, but can’t find firing positions for the remaining three, trying hard, over!"
