Chapter 713: Chapter 713: Be Careful, Someone Behind You Is Going to Stab You
"So you’re from Sang Jing."
Oleg had mistakenly thought An Dongye couldn’t understand a foreign language, which was why he had prattled on. He then ’introduced’ himself again in the Sang Jing language.
Ha! Not only could An Dongye not understand foreign languages, but she understood the Sang Jing language even less.
After Oleg finished speaking, An Dongye opened her mouth and said, "Buy one sack, then another, how many pounds of potatoes do you want..."
Ye Xiu’s mouth twitched. When did An Dongye pick up my version of the Sang Jing language?
The diners were utterly baffled, having no clue what An Dongye was talking about.
But Oleg understood. He was proficient in multiple languages, including Xuanse and Sang Jing.
An Dongye’s Xuanse accent is so heavy! This isn’t the Sang Jing language at all! It’s just Xuanse spoken with a Sang Jing intonation. She’s mocking me...
Oleg fumed, "Beauty, I approached you so politely, yet you’re toying with me. What is the meaning of this?"
The words had barely left his mouth when the middle-aged man at his table stood up, sword in hand. He walked over to stand beside Oleg, looking as if he would strike An Dongye down on command.
"Little brother, what is he saying?" An Dongye asked Ye Xiu.
"Don’t mind him," Ye Xiu replied, pulling An Dongye toward an empty table and sitting down.
Seeing this, Oleg became even angrier, especially since all the diners in the restaurant were now watching him. If he was made a fool of and didn’t reclaim his dignity, today’s event would become a stain on his life.
"First you mock me, then you ignore me. Beauty, although I have a soft spot for women, that doesn’t mean I won’t hit one," Oleg said, walking to their table and staring coldly at An Dongye. His meaning was clear: give me back the face I lost, or I’ll hit you.
"I was bitten by a dog when I was little. The look on your face right now is kind of scaring me," An Dongye said, feigning fear.
Ye Xiu couldn’t help but chuckle. Where did this girl learn such cheeky comebacks?
It took Oleg a full minute to process her words. When he finally understood she was insulting him, he flew into a rage. "Are you calling me a dog in a roundabout way?"
An Dongye feigned shock. "Oh? So you could understand me after all."
"You..." Oleg felt deeply insulted and turned to the sword-wielding bodyguard behind him. "Yuri, teach her a lesson. Let her learn what happens when someone offends me."
Hearing this, the other diners grew excited, thinking they were about to see a show.
"I’ve been waiting for you to say that!" Yuri, the middle-aged bodyguard, nodded. He was about to move on An Dongye when he saw Ye Xiu quietly pick up a dinner knife and, as if molding clay, squeeze it into a solid ball of metal.
Yuri froze, not daring to move. Oleg and the other diners could only gape, stunned by the ball of metal in Ye Xiu’s hand.
Oleg suddenly felt a wave of apprehension. He had only told Yuri to beat her up as a scare tactic, hoping to force an apology. That way, he could have made outrageous demands, like having An Dongye spend the night with him.
I can’t believe she has a Martial Artist bodyguard, too. Oleg mistakenly assumed Ye Xiu was her bodyguard.
"Yuri, can you beat him?" Oleg asked.
"I don’t know," Yuri answered carefully.
He was just a Second-Grade Martial Artist, a Loose Cultivator who didn’t dare venture to Biluo Island alone. He had taken the job as Oleg’s bodyguard to earn a hefty commission and hopefully find some opportunities for himself on the island.
"Let’s get back to our meal!" Oleg was no fool. He could tell Yuri wasn’t confident, so it wasn’t worth the risk. Swallowing his humiliation, he led Yuri back to their table.
After they left, An Dongye whispered, "Little brother, I couldn’t understand what that guy was saying, but I got the feeling he’s just an ordinary person. This ship isn’t heading to Biluo Island, is it?"
"You order first. I’m going to ask the captain," Ye Xiu said, standing up.
In truth, when he first entered the dining room, he had noticed that most of the people there were ordinary. The few Martial Artists present were merely small-fry of the First, Second, or Third Grade. Moreover, many of the diners had an extraordinary air about them, dressed in designer brands. They were clearly the young masters and ladies of wealthy families. For people like them to go to Biluo Island was to court death. But if this ship wasn’t bound for Biluo Island, then he and An Dongye had boarded the wrong vessel.
Seeing Ye Xiu leave the dining room alone, Oleg suddenly hatched a plan. He whispered to his bodyguard, "Yuri, you go take care of him."
"But..." Yuri hesitated.
"I’ll give you a million," Oleg said.
Yuri’s eyes lit up. "Master Oleg, just wait for my good news. I’ll make sure he dies without anyone ever knowing."
He wasn’t sure he could kill Ye Xiu in a frontal confrontation. But who says killing has to be a face-to-face duel? Assassination and ambushes are always an option!
Ye Xiu left the dining room, intending to ask the captain for the ship’s destination. On his way, he spotted a woman bundled up in a cap, face mask, and sunglasses, completely obscuring her features.
The woman saw Ye Xiu as well and froze, as if trying to hide.
"Qiuchanyi, what are you doing here?" Ye Xiu asked.
Shocked at being recognized, Qiuchanyi took off her mask and sunglasses. "How did you recognize me when I’m dressed like this?"
"Your gait," Ye Xiu replied. "You still haven’t answered my question. What are you doing here? Also, where is this ship headed?"
"I’m going to Biluo Island to get my revenge on the three main Judicator Families," Qiuchanyi said, her voice filled with a torrent of hatred.
Ye Xiu didn’t know how to advise her, as he was also heading to Biluo Island with vengeance in his heart. He hated when people tried to talk him out of his own revenge, so it felt wrong to do the same to Qiuchanyi. Do not impose on others what you yourself do not desire.
Changing the subject, he asked, "Why are there so many ordinary people on this ship?"
"They’re all young masters and ladies from wealthy families around the world, here for ’tourism’ on Biluo Island. There are also some reporters from various countries," Qiuchanyi explained.
Ye Xiu frowned. "Are they going to Biluo Island just to get themselves killed?"
Qiuchanyi gave a bitter smile. "They think that with all the world’s Martial Artists converging on Biluo Island, the three main Judicator Families are sure to be destroyed. They want to be the first ordinary people to set foot on the island afterward—a great source of pride and bragging rights in their circles. As for the reporters, they claim to be recording the truth, but they’re really just chasing a scoop for a fat commission."
Risking death for bragging rights and money... these people are insane. Ye Xiu couldn’t be bothered to comment further. Their lives and deaths had nothing to do with him.
Just then, Qiuchanyi noticed a man with a sword approaching from behind Ye Xiu. She didn’t pay him much mind at first. But when the man got right behind Ye Xiu and suddenly drew his sword to strike, she cried out, "Watch out! Someone’s trying to stab you from behind!"
However, it was too late. Yuri’s sword struck Ye Xiu’s back, aimed directly at his heart, with enough force to pierce straight through his chest. Yet, it was as if an invisible Protective Shield surrounded Ye Xiu’s body. Despite Yuri’s full-force thrust, the tip of his sword stopped two centimeters from his clothes, unable to advance another millimeter.
