Chapter 2367: Chapter 2371: Being Followed
Edge of the Abandoned Plain.
A group of nine stumbling figures emerged from the plain; it was Jiang Chen and his team.
As they left the Black Tiger Stockade, everyone handed over their Spirit Stones from their storage rings to Jiang Chen, compensating for the loss he incurred setting up formations.
On their way out, they encountered several hostile bandit groups. Although they drove them away, the team found themselves battered and bruised, their clothes tattered, with a woeful look on their faces.
"Hey, it’s those kids!"
"Haha, less than a day and it seems they didn’t even make it past the outskirts before being taught a lesson by those bandits!"
"Just a bunch of immature brats trying to steal food on the Abandoned Plain, aren’t they afraid of being eaten by Necro Spirits?"
"Tsk, tsk, every year during the Necro Spirit outbreak we see these family heirs in such a pitiful state. Every year at this time is my happiest moment, watching them so arrogant daily, only to be humbled in an instant, proving they’re all flashy without substance!"
Upon seeing Jiang Chen’s team in such a miserable state, some adventure teams at the edge could not help but laugh out loud.
Jin Hu, the deputy leader of the Golden Spear Adventure Team, glanced at Jiang Chen and his companions, hesitated for a moment, then walked over.
"Gentlemen."
Once in front of them, Jin Hu gently reminded, "You have just exited the Abandoned Plain. If your team doesn’t have a mate who comprehends the Great Dao of Light, it’s best to visit the Canghai Trade Alliance station in the Abandoned Town for a light avenue detection, to ensure no death qi is hidden within."
The group was slightly stunned, and Jiang Chen chuckled softly with clasped fists, "Thank you for your reminder, Deputy Jin Hu."
Jin Hu nodded slightly and returned to his adventure team.
"Jin Hu is indeed one of the few kind-hearted individuals among the adventure teams."
Liu Chang glanced at Jin Hu’s back and spoke softly.
Jiang Chen nodded gently, swept a glance around, and murmured, "A rare gem indeed."
The team was slightly surprised, detecting a hint of deeper meaning in Jiang Chen’s tone, they turned to scan their surroundings and frowned.
Among the adventurers nearby, some were casting furtive glances at them, occasionally flashing a malicious gleam, evidently contemplating taking advantage of their weakened state.
"Let’s go!"
Jiang Chen softly beckoned, stepping toward the west gate of the Abandoned Town.
Liu Chang and the others followed him vigilantly.
The malicious eyes watched them move until they stepped within a hundred-meter range of the Abandoned Town, then withdrew.
Phew!
Once those eyes were no longer fixated on them, Liu Chang and the others sighed in relief.
If those people had really acted against them, they might have met their end here!
"I almost thought they’d make a move, when did these adventure teams become so disciplined?"
Lin Shanshan patted her chest in relief and glanced back nervously.
"They dare not act rashly because they don’t know much about us. Look closely, those who want to target us are already following us,"
Jiang Chen said calmly.
Lin Shanshan paused, then glanced back.
Several adventurers immediately turned, feigning casual conversation.
"Are they planning to wait until we reach the town before striking?"
Lin Shanshan asked in alarm.
After Jiang Chen’s reminder, Liu Chang and the others also noticed the slightly unnatural individuals among the crowd, and all turned to look at Jiang Chen.
"If we randomly find a place to stay, they will indeed strike, as we lack a strong presence to deter them. However, once we stay at the Forsaken Tavern, they probably won’t follow,"
Jiang Chen spoke softly, "These adventurers are cunning. They won’t act unless certain the treasure on us is worth it, and if we recover, they won’t act at all. Now, they’re just following to see if we stay at the Forsaken Tavern."
"Jiang Chen, it’s your first time here too, how do you know so much? Have you done such things before?"
Lin Shanshan joked.
Relieved to hear they wouldn’t attack, her anxiety eased.
Jiang Chen smiled slightly; "These details were in the information Elder Jin gave me."
Upon hearing this answer, everyone felt relieved; they almost forgot that Jiang Chen had a close relationship with the Gold-devouring Rat Clan.
With this in mind, they cast envious glances at Jiang Chen.
The Gold-devouring Rat Clan is renowned throughout the Canglan Continent as an ancient race!
Without further ado, upon entering the town, they inquired about the location of the Canghai Trade Alliance station and headed there.
Although Jiang Chen comprehended the Great Dao of Light, he didn’t want to reveal it. His exposed talents were already remarkable; showing this would attract unwanted scrutiny and trouble.
"The Canghai Trade Alliance indeed deserves its reputation as one of the continent’s top powers, even has a station here,"
Jian Wuheng sighed at the entrance to the alliance.
"Do you have business here, gentlemen and ladies?"
Noticing Jiang Chen and others halted by the branch entrance, a Trade Alliance receptionist approached with a smile.
"We are here for a light avenue detection."
As the team leader, Jiang Chen responded without hesitation.
"Did you just exit the Abandoned Plain?"
Surprised, the receptionist glanced at them, his gaze curious as it swept over Jiang Chen’s group. He hadn’t expected this batch, mostly mid-Divine Soul Realm cultivators, to venture into the Abandoned Plain, a lair for Divine Infant Realm Peak cultivators.
Jiang Chen nodded with a smile.
"The light avenue detection requires one Inferior Spirit Stone per person."
Retracting his gaze, the receptionist spoke softly.
Jiang Chen extended his hand, revealing nine Inferior Spirit Stones.
"Alright, please follow me!"
The receptionist accepted the Spirit Stones from Jiang Chen, gestured for them to follow, then turned and headed into the branch.
Jiang Chen and his team stepped to follow.
After navigating through the winding paths for a few minutes, the group arrived at a hall.
The hall housed ten long tables, each with a young man or woman in white robes behind it, while ten long queues stretched to the door.
"Please line up here,"
the receptionist instructed before leaving.
Jiang Chen and the others exchanged a glance, resignedly joining the queue.
With time passing, the line moved quickly, and soon it was Jiang Chen’s turn.
To save time, Jiang Chen’s group joined nine separate queues, so by the time it was Jiang Chen’s turn, the others had completed their light avenue detection.
