Chapter 2256: Chapter 2260: Eight-Headed Heard Again
"Nether Kui Snake?"
"Nether Kui Snake!"
Two voices rang out simultaneously, one with a probing tone, while the other carried a touch of gravity.
Sang Zhenye was taken aback, turning to look at Jiang Chen with surprise: "You know the Nether Kui Snake?"
The probing voice just now was spoken by Jiang Chen.
"I know!"
Jiang Chen’s eyes revealed a cold murderous intent: "He is my nemesis. When I was in my homeland, he instigated one battle after another, nearly destroying my home!"
Sang Zhenye frowned; he knew where Jiang Chen’s homeland was, but he didn’t expect that such an ancient beast would exist there!
"Elder Sang, Jiang Chen, the Nether Kui Snake you’re talking about...is it that ancient fierce beast? Isn’t it extinct?"
Sun Yao’s face changed, looking at Sang Zhenye and Jiang Chen with shock.
"It’s not extinct!"
Sang Zhenye slowly shook his head, giving Jiang Chen a deep look: "I’m not sure where the Nether Kui Snake in Jiang Chen’s homeland originated, but there’s only one in the Void Nether Realm. In the past, it was notorious for its bloodlust, wantonly devouring the primordial spirits and power of the Great Dao from cultivators, and later even attempted to devour the Dragon Clan’s Dragon Soul, until Lord Ancestral Dragon intervened to capture it."
"Lord Ancestral Dragon, considering it was the only Nether Kui Snake in existence and shared the same devouring ability as the Dragon Clan, couldn’t bring himself to destroy it. Instead, he kept it by his side as a gatekeeper. But now it seems it escaped when Lord Ancestral Dragon was suppressing a spatial rift!"
"The only one in existence? Then what about the one in Jiang Chen’s homeland? Is it its descendant?"
Sun Yao asked Jiang Chen with doubts.
Jiang Chen gently shook his head: "No, it should be the one captured by Lord Ancestral Dragon. The one near my homeland is just an avatar formed from a wisp of its primordial spirit!"
"Spirit Avatar? Has it already reached the Saint Realm?!"
Sun Yao exclaimed in disbelief, looking at Jiang Chen.
Jiang Chen opened his mouth but found himself unable to explain. To do so would expose Yuan Star, which was absolutely not allowed.
"The legendary Nether Kui Snake had already reached the Saint Realm, so having a Spirit Avatar is not surprising!"
Sang Zhenye noticed Jiang Chen’s difficult expression and smoothened the situation with his words, then his face grew serious: "If the destruction of Wuyou Island and Lingtian Pavilion was indeed caused by that same Nether Kui Snake from long ago, then it’s beyond our capacity to handle; we must have the Domain Lord report to Canglan City!"
"This..."
Sun Yao’s face suddenly changed, realizing something, he turned in surprise to look at Jiang Chen.
At this moment, Jiang Chen’s face twisted in anger, eyes gleaming with cold fury, turning blood-red, with a chilling intent that seemed intent on bursting forth!
Eight-Headed! Is it you?
Was this done by your true form, or have you manipulated others again?
"Jiang Chen."
Noticing Jiang Chen’s demeanor, Sang Zhenye reached out and patted Jiang Chen’s shoulder.
Phew!
Jiang Chen’s body trembled, taking a deep breath before slowly exhaling, closing his eyes.
When they reopened, his expression had returned to normal.
"I’ll return to the academy immediately and report this matter to the dean!"
Seeing Jiang Chen regaining composure, Sun Yao glanced at Sang Zhenye, stood up, and instructed, before calling Zhang Qian and the others and heading to the stairway.
"Senior Zhang Qian."
Jiang Chen suddenly remembered something and turned to call Zhang Qian.
Zhang Qian halted and looked at Jiang Chen.
"Please check with the academy to see if my master has emerged. If he has, please have him come to the Heavenly Sword Sect; if not, have Elder Li come instead."
Jiang Chen softly instructed.
"Alright!"
Zhang Qian nodded and turned to leave.
"Jiang Chen, are you alright?"
Qiu Ying looked at Jiang Chen with concern.
She was startled by Jiang Chen’s earlier expression; the formerly handsome face had turned so ferocious and terrifying, causing Qiu Ying’s heart to tremble uncontrollably.
"I’m fine, had enough rest, let’s continue on our journey!"
Jiang Chen spoke indifferently, as if not entirely eased.
"Alright!"
Qiu Ying nodded.
The trio stood up and departed the tavern, heading towards the city gate.
At the city gate.
An elderly man with a hunched figure was pulling along an eleven or twelve-year-old girl to cool off in the shade.
"Qiao’er, I’ve played enough, should we go back and cultivate?"
The old man looked at the girl with eyes full of adoration.
This pair was none other than Sun Peng and his granddaughter Qiao’er.
"Alright!"
Qiao’er nodded obediently.
Sun Peng gently patted Qiao’er’s head and got up to head towards the teleportation array within the city.
Hmm?
After taking just two steps, Sun Peng’s expression changed, pulling Qiao’er back against the city wall, concealing their presence as he watched three people approaching the city gate.
"Sang Zhenye, Jiang Chen, why are they here? To investigate the matter of Wuyou Island?"
Sun Peng frowned slightly, his gaze complex as he observed Jiang Chen and the others.
Jiang Chen was deep in thought, Sang Zhenye looked serious, and Qiu Ying’s expression was uncertain; none of the three noticed they were being watched.
As the trio exited the city gate, a faint gloom appeared in Sun Peng’s eyes as he pulled Qiao’er along once more.
However, as he took a step forward, he promptly drew back again, his gaze falling upon four figures rapidly heading towards the city gate.
"Tong Family’s three elders and Hei Mo? How did they end up together?"
Sun Peng’s expression shifted slightly, muttering to himself in a low voice: "They look like they’re following someone. Who are they following?"
Suddenly, images of Jiang Chen and the others flashed through Sun Peng’s mind, causing his face to change abruptly.
"Qiao’er, go back to the inn first and wait for grandpa. Grandpa might need to leave for a while; don’t wander off, alright?"
Biting his lip fiercely, Sun Peng crouched down to speak softly to Qiao’er.
"Is grandpa going to help the academy’s people? Qiao’er recognizes that very handsome young man!"
Qiao’er replied in a crisp voice.
Sun Peng paused, his eyes showing a tinge of bitterness: "Back then, I let the academy down, and since I’ve met them, I cannot leave them unassisted!"
"Go ahead, grandpa, Qiao’er can manage!"
Qiao’er leaned into Sun Peng’s embrace, gently stroking the old man’s beard.
"Alright, grandpa will go now. Take this with you; if grandpa doesn’t return in three days, go to Changlin Academy and tell them that Sun Peng has finally repaid the academy!"
Sun Peng took a leather pouch from his Space Ring and handed it to Qiao’er, seriously instructing her.
"Okay!"
Qiao’er nodded lightly, accepting the pouch and turning towards the inn within the city.
Qiao’er didn’t fully understand Sun Peng’s words but knew the importance of Changlin Academy to him, so she obediently left.
Watching Qiao’er’s small form disappear from his sight, Sun Peng showed an expression of determination.
Changlin Academy, I wronged you in the past, but today, even if I risk this old life, I will save your best student!
Seeing Qiao’er vanish from view, Sun Peng turned and rushed out of the city gate.
Sun Peng was prepared to face death; the Tong Family’s three elders were of late Integration Realm stage cultivation, plus Hei Mo at mid-Integration Realm stage was beyond what he and Sang Zhenye could withstand.
Yet the memory of fleeing during a crucial moment a hundred years ago was a deep pain in his heart, although he had reasons that forced him to leave.
Escaping was escaping, but now that he knew Jiang Chen was Changlin Academy’s finest student, he couldn’t let anything happen to him!
