Chapter 78: Chapter 78 The Intruder Appears

Editor: Noodletown Translations

After a brilliant zigzag slash, Mu Fan no longer paid any attention to the bodies and continued pushing forward.

The RX-16 stood 6.78 meters tall and weighed 9.31 tons, layered with reactive armor and ceramic armor. Although this mecha appeared quite formidable, it wasn’t very conspicuous among the ruins; its height, under 7 meters, was only about two stories tall. The enemy, 4 kilometers away, hadn’t noticed him as they were frantically exchanging fire with the manor’s defenses.

Mu Fan’s vision was still filled with looming buildings, and he had no idea that after passing this block, he would directly face four mechas.

The four mechas attacking Fowen Manor were all travel-class, specifically the “Knight II Close Combat Mecha,” the “Avalanche W75 Leopard Mecha,” the “Spirit Cat D-Level Tiger Type Mecha,” and an artillery-type “Fierce Flame Bombard.” Had Mu Fan recognized these models, he would have realized they were the names heard last night at the Style Bar, and the leading Knight II was indeed the name reported by the person in a zebra mask — the New Guardian Association!

Inside the Fowen Manor, Wayne clenched his fist tightly in the underground secret command room as he directed continued firepower counterattacks, but compared to the agile mechas, the manor was utterly a passive fixed target.

Even if the opposition were merely travel-class mechas, continuously taking hits for under half an hour had already drained the energy shield reserves to 30%. What would the consequences be if it got breached? Remembering the ruthless nature of these mechas, Wayne felt a chill in his heart. He didn’t regret not fleeing, but was his hard-earned enterprise about to be reduced to ashes today?

“Mu Fan, radar scans are clear, the other side hasn’t detected us.” Black had taken over the mecha’s scanning system, constantly refreshing sensory signals. Were those four mechas still not informed, even this close?

“Advance.”

“Yeah.” Mu Fan calmly maneuvered the RX-16. The sword and shield mecha sprinted at full speed, paying no heed to the ground troops’ ordinary firepower. He had only to advance before Black’s reminders.

The recent battle left a deep impression on him; he lacked so much. Without Black’s timely reminders, he might have been stuck there by now.

“The energy furnace is at 90% load, ready for battle,” Black reminded again. To it, the military mechas on Loga Star were indeed excessive, entirely obsolete artifacts — the equipped fifth-generation engines offered no overload mode. However, to ensure mecha durability, even at 90% load, the energy furnace’s power output remained stable.

“Entering the war zone in three hundred meters!”

“Entering the war zone in two hundred meters!”

“One hundred meters…”

“Two-second lead, initiate impact protection maneuvers!” Black’s precise instructions provided Mu Fan sufficient confidence.

Abandoning the mechanical lever, pressing four keys simultaneously with both hands, he input a series of precise keystroke commands into the mecha. The RX-16 placed its heavy shield on its shoulder, gripping the heavy sword in its right arm, pointing it diagonally at the ground, and started to sprint.

The micro-scale mechanical pressurization increased quickly! 91% load, 92%…

Thud, thud, each step kicked up debris as the cumbersome RX-16 charged like a duelist. Rounding the corner of the building, it was about to confront the enemy, the real pilots in mechas!

The four mechas on Jiahe Avenue were attacking Fowen Manor so fiercely for no other reason than envy! The jealousy in their hearts twisted further under the fire’s influence.

Wayne, after today, there will be no Fowen Consortium! The zebra-masked figure from back then was twistedly smiling in the Knight II mecha. Having allied with the Wen family, he could at least demand some benefits. This prompted several people with the same interests to jointly attack the Fowen Consortium, planning to divide the spoils post-battle.

These mechas never showed their faces, and their identities were unknown. To maintain the upcoming new order, kill! This was a group whose minds were corrupted and eyes turned blind with bloodlust.

At the last position on Jiahe Avenue was the “Fierce Flame Bombard,” the highest-ranked artillery mecha at C-level among travel-class mechas with F-C grade. It had sacrificed mobility and protection to achieve the dual C-level long-range firepower.

The dual-barreled boosted cannon was mounted on both shoulders, complementing the low-profile frame and automatic reloading system. In the siege against Fowen Manor, this mecha’s role even outperformed the combined efforts of the other three.

Charge, fire again! The pilot of the “Fierce Flame Bombard,” with bloodshot eyes, slammed down the trigger. No operation needed, at the longest range, only bombard relentlessly. As a flash of flames erupted from behind the cannon’s barrel, the mecha slid half a meter backward along the ground, entering cooldown mode again.

Two violent explosion flares flashed on the manor’s energy shield, reducing the reserves to 25%! Wayne, observing the fear on people’s faces in the secret command room, suppressed his own but couldn’t help thinking mournfully: just five more minutes; he had grossly underestimated the ferocity of these Star Thieves. He never imagined betrayal from within was fiercer than the enemy! When it came to gauging human nature, Black still had a long way to go.

I was too arrogant, so today will be my final day? Wayne’s mind flashed back to Mu Fan’s words: please evacuate immediately. Perhaps from the moment he agreed to it, his heart was prepared for the worst outcome. The roots of the Fowen family must not be lost!

Yet destiny often works in mysterious ways. As Wayne and the others gritted their teeth in a desperate struggle, a heavy close combat mecha, the RX-16, charged at full speed with a heavy shield atop its shoulder, abruptly appearing in the small battlefield’s rear.

“Identify, enemy.” Black’s voice was crisp and clear.

As Mu Fan turned the mecha, he immediately spotted the artillery-mode “Fierce Flame Bombard.” Two massive shells had just fallen to the ground. The artillery mecha’s pilot suddenly saw a red dot quickly closing in from behind on the radar.

Something was wrong in the rear, so he hastily retracted the artillery mount, preparing to turn.

But it was already too late — Mu Fan replicated the classic “Barbaric Charge” from his encounter with Wang Nuonuo on the Battle Net. The adventure-class military mecha, running at 98% power output, raised the heavy shield and rammed into the travel-class mecha, modified to barely C-level.

Inside the cockpit, the pilot was knocked out of his seat, like a sardine in a can, as his vision blacked out and he fainted.

Mu Fan controlled the RX-16 and rammed the artillery mecha a full twenty meters! Then he rose and stood upright, raising the heavy sword in his right arm, and fiercely stabbed downward!

The three other pilots on the battlefield, sensing something amiss, turned to see the sight of their mecha being violently pierced through the cockpit by that gleaming silver heavy sword.

The emblem on the shield at this moment shone brightly — Federation military!
