Chapter 249: The start of a new arc 7.

"Not even when I drag you into chaos?"

"Especially then."

Mo Yuxin smiled slowly. "That’s a dangerous answer."

"It’s true."

Mo Yuxin reached out and traced Su Yubing’s lower lip with one finger. "Then let me ask properly. Wife, after all this time... are you happy?"

Su Yubing’s gaze softened in a way almost no one else ever saw. "Yes."

The word was simple.

That made it hit even harder.

Mo Yuxin kissed her there by the lake, unhurried and deep, the kind of kiss that carried not only desire but trust, gratitude, and the quiet terror of loving someone enough that their existence changed the shape of your world.

They stayed until sunset.

That night, in their room, neither of them slept early.

The next morning was the day of departure.

The sky was clear.

The air held that strange stillness that came before a journey, when even ordinary sounds seemed sharper. The Su family and Mo family had both gathered at the outer courtyard of the Su estate, since Mo Yuxin and Su Yubing would leave from there.

Servants stood at a respectful distance. A few core elders were present too, though none dared step too close into the circle of farewell.

Mo Feng was already crying.

Not loudly. Just stubborn little tears running down her face while she tried to act brave.

Mo Yuxin crouched in front of her and wiped them away. "Hey. What’s this?"

Mo Feng sniffed. "Dust got in my eyes."

"Mm. Very suspicious dust."

Mo Feng threw herself into her arms.

Mo Yuxin held her tightly. "Be good for Mother. And listen to Shen Mingyue."

Mo Feng mumbled into her shoulder, "Will you come back soon?"

"I’ll come back when I can."

"That’s not soon."

Mo Yuxin closed her eyes briefly, then kissed her forehead. "Then think of it this way. Every day you cultivate properly and grow stronger, it’ll feel faster."

Mo Feng pulled back and glared through tears. "You’re tricking me into training."

"Maybe a little."

Mo Feng huffed, but she nodded.

Then Mo Yuxin stood and faced Mo Lan.

For a moment neither of them moved.

Then Mo Lan stepped forward and smoothed Mo Yuxin’s collar as if she were still a child about to run outside too recklessly. "Take care of yourself."

"I will."

"Eat properly."

Mo Yuxin laughed softly. "Mother, we’re cultivators."

"That is not an answer."

"Fine. I’ll eat properly."

Mo Lan’s eyes grew damp, though her smile stayed gentle. She touched Su Yubing’s hand too. "Take care of each other."

"We will," Su Yubing said.

Shen Mingyue came last among the Mo family.

For once, she did not carry the aura of the world’s strongest sect master. She looked only like a woman seeing off her daughter.

"I owe you more than I can say," she said to Mo Yuxin.

Mo Yuxin shook her head. "You don’t owe me anything. Just don’t lose them."

"I won’t."

Their eyes met, and a quiet understanding passed between them. There were many things neither said. About the past. About Mo Lan. About old absences and future chances. But for now, surface level was enough.

Shen Mingyue then inclined her head slightly to Su Yubing. "Take care of her."

Su Yubing answered simply, "With my life."

Shen Mingyue’s expression eased.

Then it was Father Su and Mother Su’s turn.

Father Su looked stronger now than he ever had in his life, early Nascent Soul power hidden beneath controlled calm. But as a father sending off his daughter, he seemed strangely helpless.

"I know you don’t need advice from us anymore," he said. "Still... be careful."

Mother Su’s eyes were red, though she stood very straight. "And if there is danger beyond what you can manage alone, do not insist on bearing it yourselves."

Mo Yuxin smiled. "We’ll survive."

Mother Su gave her a pointed look. "That was directed at both of you."

Su Yubing bowed her head slightly. "Understood."

Father Su hesitated, then stepped forward and embraced his daughter.

Su Yubing stiffened in surprise for the briefest instant before returning it.

Mother Su hugged them both after that, refusing to care who was watching.

By then even a few of the Su elders were secretly wiping their eyes.

Mo Yuxin finally looked around at all of them - the Su family who had become hers, the Mo family she had fought so hard to hold together, the city that had once been their whole world and now seemed so small beneath the weight of what awaited ahead.

Then she grinned, bright and fearless as ever.

"Why is everyone acting like we’re marching to our deaths?" she said. "We’re just going to grab another inheritance, get stronger, and come back unbelievably impressive."

Mo Feng hiccuped a laugh.

Father Su sighed. "There she is."

Su Yubing looked at Mo Yuxin with quiet helpless fondness. "You were gone for only a moment."

"I never leave for long."

Then, because words had reached their limit, they stepped back.

Mo Yuxin and Su Yubing stood side by side at the front of the courtyard. Spiritual power rose around them, clear and immense. Their robes stirred in the pressure of it. The morning light caught at their hair, their sleeves, the calm set of their shoulders.

For a heartbeat, they looked less like young wives leaving home and more like the kind of figures stories were built around.

Mo Yuxin turned her head slightly. "Ready?"

Su Yubing’s answer came without hesitation. "Always."

They rose into the sky together.

Below them, their families grew smaller but did not look away. Mo Feng waved both arms wildly. Mo Lan stood with one hand pressed to her chest. Shen Mingyue was beside her, close and steady. Father Su and Mother Su stood shoulder to shoulder at the estate gates like guardians seeing off the future itself.

The city spread wide beneath morning clouds.

Ahead lay the road to the next Shenghuo Menkou, the hidden trials of inheritance, the strengthening they would need before facing Sha, and dangers far greater than anything this little western city could imagine.

But behind them, for once, there was something solid.

Home.

Mo Yuxin reached for Su Yubing’s hand as they flew.

Su Yubing laced their fingers together at once.

The wind rushed past them, clean and bright.

Neither looked back again, not because they did not care, but because they did. Some farewells were strongest when carried forward instead of clung to.

And so the two of them went on, side by side as always - wives, cultivators, troublemakers, each the other’s surest place in a world too large and dangerous to promise anything except change.

Below, Azure Dragon City remained small.

Ahead, the next continent waited,
