Chapter 89: Alone [4]

Elisa then continued, "Even so, that doesn’t make his way of thinking right. He ignores the feelings and suffering of others. If he continues down that path, sooner or later everyone around him will come to hate him."

Walter just sighed and said, "That is true, but that kid already understands that and still does not care, and I am too old to argue with him now. Just stop talking about that crazy kid now. He will take care of himself. He is crazy, but also a peaceful and intelligent kid, so there is no need to worry much about him."

Aelar looked at them and said in a confused tone, "I can understand what you are saying, but also can’t. He does not seem crazy to me if you just ignore his cruelty."

Elisa stared at Aelar for a moment before shaking her head.

"That is exactly the problem," she said. "You can only say that if you ignore his cruelty. A person’s cruelty is part of who they are. You cannot just pretend it does not exist."

Aelar frowned and thought about it for a few seconds.

"I suppose that is true," he admitted. "But whenever I talk to him, he seems calm. He never loses his temper, and he never acts arrogant. He just says terrible things as if they are ordinary facts."

Walter laughed quietly.

"That is because they are ordinary facts to him," he replied. "That kid sees the world differently from most people. He understands kindness, but he does not value it the same way others do."

"And you are fine with that?" Elisa asked.

Walter shrugged.

"Whether I am fine with it or not changes nothing. He made up his mind a long time ago. Besides, despite all his flaws, he rarely causes trouble unless someone drags him into it first."

Aelar looked between the two of them, becoming even more confused.

"So he is cruel, peaceful, intelligent, and crazy at the same time?"

Walter nodded without hesitation.

"Exactly."

Poor Aelar became even more confused and went into deep thought trying to understand what are they saying.

Elisa looked towards him and said, "Don’t think too much. Just know that kid is weird, nothing else. You probably won’t meet that kid again, if you are lucky."

Then Elisa turned towards Walter and asked in a respectful tone, "What did you mean by the spell is not complete, Sir?"

Walter answered calmly, "That spell is only usable at close range and can cause high damage to enemies, but it is just a shell of the spell he was trying to create."

Walter paused and then said, "That crazy kid wanted to add a spatial element to that spell and turn it into an artificial inferior black hole that would swallow his enemies and destroy them, but that is too hard to master. Any mistake, and you will be the one to die. No sane person would make a spell like that unless he has multiple lives and bodies."

Walter then paused and continued, "But I guess he gave up in the end, since it would cost him his life to fully master that."

Meanwhile, in the forest.

Asher was focusing on recovering his mana when he suddenly sneezed.

"AACHOO!"

Then Asher muttered, "Who is talking bad about me behind my back?"

Asher then stood up because 13 minutes had already passed, and his location would now be shown again.

His bracelet lit up again for one minute before returning to normal.

Asher did not move away from his position and simply kept waiting while trying to rest.

After some time passed, he sensed some students coming toward him. There were nine of them this time, but they were only at Silver Peak at best, so they were probably students from Class A of Elyndor Academy.

As soon as they reached his position and came into his view, Asher looked at them and said, "There are two choices you have now. Either you leave peacefully, or we fight, and then you leave without your limbs."

The nine students looked at Asher and then at their surroundings, where blood was splattered across the ground and the severed limbs of other students lay scattered around.

Some of them became frightened at the sight and were about to leave.

But then one guy spoke in a confident tone.

"Don’t worry, guys. He is just boasting. If he was really able to defeat all of us alone, then he wouldn’t be giving us two choices. He would have already gone for elimination."

He then looked at Asher with a confident smile and continued, "But he isn’t doing that, which means he is probably tired and can’t defeat us alone. He is trying to scare us away. Don’t believe his lies. Let’s defeat him together. With him gone, we will have a much higher chance of reaching a better rank in the test."

Everyone else looked at that guy, then at Asher, and started discussing among themselves.

"Yeah, he is probably afraid of us."

"We should fight him."

Eventually, everyone decided to fight Asher instead of leaving peacefully.

Asher looked at the guy who had given that reasonable explanation and said, "You are smart, but also foolish."

Asher then sighed and said, "Whatever. It seems I am not fated for peace."

The opponents frowned at his words and then summoned their weapons.

Asher just looked at them, and then two figures appeared beside him. Both of them were his clones.

The three Ashers looked at their nine opponents and said at the same time, "Let’s finish this soon and rest while eating some ice cream and snacks."

And then the battle began.

And after just 10 minutes,

Asher and his clones were the only ones left standing. The others were already lying on the ground, missing their limbs and unconscious.

Asher dismissed his clones and then said, "Living a peaceful life is really hard. Should I just hunt all the students present in the nearby area?"
