Chapter 138: Surprise [End]

While Asher was preparing a surprise for his guests...

Alger had already teleported to the Church branch nearest to the Reaper Guild’s location.

Now, he was heading toward the headquarters together with ten Master-rank members of the Church.

They had brought only this many people because, according to their information, the culprits behind the incident were merely a small group of Masters.

All of them were moving at tremendous speed.

Each member had transformed into a beam of light, traveling through the forest far faster than an ordinary Master could move.

It was still early morning—around four o’clock.

The sun had not yet risen.

In their light forms, they looked like shooting stars falling from the sky.

The incident had taken place the previous evening at four o’clock.

So it’s been only 12 hours till the incident took place and they were already about to catch the culprits yet none of them were happy or excited instead they all were fully focused on catching the culprits.

They couldn’t feel at ease unless they finally culprits behind the incident and can get them in front of public and clear the name of Church.

Alger himself was capable of moving much faster and reach the destination faster and catch them earlier...

However, if he used his full speed, the other Master-rank members wouldn’t be able to keep up and would fall behind.

Because of that, he maintained a pace that allowed the others to follow him.

Many beasts in the forest sensed their presence.

The aura of a Grandmaster was enough to make them flee in terror the moment they sensed Alger.

The group continued moving toward the center of the forest for nearly thirty minutes.

Then, all of them suddenly stopped and reverted to their human forms.

One of the Master-rank members immediately checked the divination artifact before speaking in a serious tone.

"The culprits are only ten kilometers ahead".

Everyone turned toward Alger, waiting for further instructions.

Alger looked at them and said in a serious tone,"We will move slowly from this point onward."

"We cannot allow them to discover our presence and escape again.Everyone, activate your stealth artifacts."

"Make sure they cannot sense us."

"Do not make a move until you are certain you can capture them."

Just as he finished speaking, Alger suddenly looked ahead, having sensed something in the distance.

The others immediately followed his gaze.

However, what they found was only a small Gold-rank flying beast.

The moment the beast felt the attention of so many powerful cultivators, it fled in terror.

The Church members paid it no further attention.

Alger felt that behaviour of beast was wierd but he didn’t dwell much on it knowing the importance of current task and focused on his current task.

One after another, they activated their artifacts.

Each artifact resembled a white clock.

As the artifacts activated, their bodies gradually became invisible, and even their presence vanished completely.

Then, silently, the group began moving toward the location of the culprits.

The artifact erased their presence completely as long as they didn’t use mana to attack.

Only a Grandmaster would have a chance of sensing them despite the artifact’s effect.

Since the culprits were believed to be merely a small group of Masters, the Church members weren’t worried about being discovered.

Confident in the artifact’s concealment ability, they continued advancing silently toward their target.

What they didn’t know was that the flying beast they had just ignored was actually one of Asher’s vessels waiting for them.

The moment the vessel spotted the Church group, it immediately shared the information with the vessel remaining at the Reaper Guild headquarters.

The vessel at the headquarters looked toward the direction from which the Church members were approaching and thought,’Only eleven members... should I kill them too?’

After a brief moment, he shook his head.

"No. That would be too risky."

"I’ve already lost thirty vessels today."

"I should stick to the plan."

He then let out a quiet sigh.

"Though my plans never go exactly as planned."

"Just look at this mess."

"The original plan was to take over the guild by killing all of its members and turning them into vessels."

"But this guild turned out to be far more complicated than I expected."

"And connections to the royal family and a Duke’s household...Taking over the guild became impossible. So I had no choice but to kill them instead....and shift the blame onto someone else."

Asher’s vessel looked at No. 1 and No. 2, who were still lying nearby, unable to move.

Then he said in a calm tone,"Well... congratulations. Your suffering ends now."

His gaze then shifted to the two large metallic spheres lying beside them.

His gaze then shifted to the two large metallic spheres lying beside them.

They were Grandmaster-rank Light Bombs.

Asher’s vessel walked toward them and said,"I never thought I would need to use them this soon."

"But I suppose they are the best way to shift the blame now that I’ve gotten involved in this mess."

Asher’s vessel immediately activated both Grandmaster-rank Light.

Then, without wasting even a fraction of a second, he teleported away, unwilling to risk being caught in the explosion.

The moment Asher disappeared...

The two bombs detonated.

A blinding light erupted from the center of the headquarters.

The explosion illuminated the entire forest, turning the night into day for an instant.

A terrifying wave of light and destruction spread outward in every direction.

The ground split apart.

Buildings were vaporized.

The headquarters of the Reaper Guild was swallowed by the explosion.

At the center of the blast, No. 1 and No. 2 disappeared completely not even a trace of their flesh was left.

The shockwave continued expanding across the forest, destroying everything in its path.

Trees were uprooted.

Rocks shattered.

And a deafening roar echoed through the entire region.

Far away, the approaching Church group saw a pillar of light rise into the sky.

Alger’s expression changed instantly.

"Move!"

The eleven Church members accelerated toward the source of the explosion at their maximum speed.
