Chapter 567: Blood Curdling Scene
(Author’s POV)
The moment Fabian noticed Shaun’s unusually blackened, corrupted eyes and the weapon concealed in his hand, his past trauma resurfaced, shooting like lightning across his peripheral vision. The hauntingly gruesome deaths of Camilla Stephens and Tristan Stephens (his parents) right in front of a little Fabian mingled with Jacob and Myra’s ashen, pallid faces. Just thinking about it made his blood run cold.
In a split second, he made a decision.
One scare was enough for him to endure in this lifetime; he wanted to prevent history from repeating itself at all costs. There was no way he was going to let any mishap happen again. This time, he would protect his people even if it meant he had to sacrifice himself.
Lunging forward, he placed his body right between the two, attempting to shield Jacob. Then, he screamed with all his might, "GRANDPAAA~~~~~ WATCH OUT."
Jacob swirled around just in time to witness Shaun Hart driving the splintered stake deep inside Fabian’s chest. A blood curdling cry escaped his mouth, reverberating across the garden, catching everyone’s attention, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO~~~~~~~~~..."
The sudden, forceful impact made Fabian regurgitate a mouthful of blood as he stumbled and started to fall backwards. Before he could land on the grass bed, Jacob caught him in his arms. Looking at the horrifying wound that had torn his chest apart and crimson soaking his shirt, splattered all over his upper body, Jacob bellowed horrifically, "CHILD, WHY? WHY~ ... DID YOU DO IT? WHY DID YOU TAKE THE HIT??" his voice trembled, his eyes rimmed red. He touched the affected area, his hands shaking uncontrollably. "YOU SHOULDN’T HAVE~ .... YOU SHOULDN’T HAVE."
His voice snapped Shaun out of his hypnotic state, and his eyes immediately gained clarity. He looked at the graphic scene ahead, and then at his own, blood stained hands, as the commandos pinned him down mercilessly. Petrified, he shook his head rapidly and uttered, "No~ .... I~ .... I didn’t do it. I~ .... didn’t~~~~~"
Jared didn’t let him finish his words as he punched him hard and ground his face, anchoring it into the muddy surface.
Fabian, with tear filled vision and bloodied lips, smiled weakly at his grandfather. With a faint, pain-stricken voice, he spoke, "Ughhhh~ ... didn’t~ ... I say~ I would .... protect you, arghhh ... grandp~a. I am~ ... just~ .... keeping my~ ... pro~mise." His breath laboured.
He raised his tremoring hand to reach Jacob’s face to wipe off his tears, but before he could, his eyes rolled back, his head tilted to the side as his vision went dark. He lost consciousness.
At that exact moment, both Brave and Dion rushed on site. Their steps halted, their eyes ready to bulge out from what they saw.
A gut-wrenching roar tore the entire place, making everyone present shiver to their very cores, "FABIAN~ .... FABIAN~~~ WAKE UP. NO~~~~ ... NOO~ .... NOOOOOO~~~~ ..."
His eyes shot up as he shouted, "SOMEONE CALL THE HEALER, RIGHT NOW."
"Hector Healer isn’t at the estate. I have already sent word to Red Stone. The doctor will soon arrive," Chris replied.
Jacob glared at Shaun with a murderous, fearsome intent, growling at him with venomous words, "SHAUN HART~ YOU FUCKER .... BETTER PRAY, NOTHING HAPPENS TO THIS CHILD. IF SO MUCH AS A HAIR ON HIS HEAD IS HARMED~ ... I TELL YOU~~~~~ YOU ARE GOING TO REGRET EVER BEING BORN. I WILL MAKE SURE OF IT. I WILL BURN NOT JUST YOU BUT YOU ENTIRE FUCKING CLAN. NO ONE WOULD SURVIVE."
Spitting out his warning, he picked Fabian up in his arms, whose body had gone limp, and started to march inside, his steps urgent. While still in motion, he barked orders, "Jared, take that bastard to the oubliette. Young Alpha Brave and Dion make him confess to his crime and his accomplices, no matter what. Use every possible means to open his damn mouth. As for others~ .... seize the garden. Not a single living soul is allowed to leave the place." His eyes were red like live charcoal.
Chris followed him behind, quietly. He was hardly able to keep his face straight. Soon, this mutt would disappear from this world.
Shaun flittered like a fish out of water as he wailed desperately, "YOUR MAJESTY~ .... I didn’t do it. It wasn’t me. IT WASN’T ME. I AM BEING FRAMED." He struggled to get out as Jared gestured his subordinates to drag him away, "You cannot do this. Let me go~~~~~ LET ME GOOO~~~~~."
But his cries fell on deaf ears.
All the clan leaders and staff members present gasped in sheer horror. Someone dared to attack the vampire king in broad daylight, and that Fabian, whom they all discarded as just a weak human, protected him, putting his body on the line. No one was expecting such a turn of events.
With a wave of Jared’s hand, countless commandos appeared out of nowhere and made a human barrier.
The Vampire elders tried to follow Jacob inside, but Jared stood tall, "Elders, you cannot go inside. The king’s order has to be obeyed."
He didn’t give them any chance to argue as he, along with Brave and Dion, went to the dungeon to execute the punishment.

*Back To Present*
More than two and a half hours have passed since the operation started, and all this time, Jacob’s eyes have remained glued to the door. The Everests brothers haven’t left as well.
Inside the operating room, after great caution and much effort, Iris and the supporting doctor had managed to extract the stake from Fabian’s chest. It had left a hollow in his thorax.
The doctor’s eyes flickered as he remarked, "Healer Hector, the wound is quite deep. Thankfully, his vital signs are stable."
Iris didn’t answer. Her entire energy remained focused on Fabian and him alone. She needed to make sure he survived this ordeal. Composedly, she checked for any organ damage or other complications. Honestly, a wound this deep, there was no way it hadn’t done any damage. A few of his blood vessels were punctured, but nothing beyond repair. She did the complicated work and mended the puncture flawlessly.
By this time, she was quite exhausted. So, without lifting her head, she assigned the other doctor, "Dr. Yale, suture the injury for me."
Draco Yale did as she told him and patched up Fabian’s wound cleanly. Once done, she walked outside to deliver the news.
As soon as the door opened, Jacob rushed towards Iris and asked, his voice desperate, "How is he?"
Iris took off her mask, let out a sigh and told him truthfully, "Your majesty, the surgery has been successful. But~~~"
