Chapter 335: Chapter 188: Cold Abyss (Part 2)
He struck out with both palms, blasting all three corpses into a bloody pulp. He then turned, looked in the direction of Cyan Yang City, and strode away.
...
Late at night, a silver moon hung high in the sky.
Su Man sat alone in the courtyard. A spread of food and wine was laid out before her, and on the empty seat across the table, she had placed a bowl, chopsticks, and a wine cup.
"Chen Lang, rest assured," she murmured to herself. "That bastard Xu Yang will be down there to join you soon."
Her father, second uncle, and younger brother, Su Zhe, had all been gone for the past few days. She guessed they had gone to kill Xu Yang.
Although they hadn’t told her, she was able to guess.
With her father’s cunning, and given the deep-seated hatred between the Su Family and Xu Yang, he would never allow Xu Yang to remain alive.
Perhaps Xu Yang was already dead.
A knowing smile flashed in Su Man’s eyes. ’Father thinks I’m a fool, but little does he know, this is exactly what I wanted.’
If she hadn’t acted this way, the Su Family would never have been moved to kill Xu Yang. And though her brother, Su Zhe, had been harmed in the process, it was only temporary.
’With the Su Family’s wealth, they could surely help Su Zhe achieve Marrow Cleansing in a year or two. Then, even if no one was willing to take him as a disciple, Su Zhe could still enter the Purple Sun Sect’s Inner Sect.’
"Fire!"
Suddenly, an anxious shout rang out across the Su Family estate.
"These good-for-nothings!"
Su Man’s good mood instantly vanished. She stood up, her brow furrowed, as she saw flames soaring into the sky in the distance.
With her father, second uncle, and brother all gone, she was about to go take a look when a ghostly figure drifted in over the compound wall.
"Who’s there?"
Su Man snapped, her pupils contracting violently as she abruptly retreated.
But the ghostly black shadow was faster, sticking to her like a second skin.
A chill ran down Su Man’s spine. Without hesitation, she struck with her palm, sending a streak of crimson Gang Qi shooting forward.
BANG!
A hand, as fast as lightning, shot out. It crushed the Gang Qi and clamped firmly around her snow-white neck.
Su Man shuddered, her body freezing in place. She didn’t dare to move.
She had no doubt that the strong, powerful hand could easily crush her throat.
At the same time, a pair of bright eyes slowly came into focus before her.
"It’s you?"
Though his face was covered, she would never forget those eyes and that figure for as long as she lived.
Xu Yang!
Su Man’s face twisted with shock and fury. The man holding her by the neck was none other than Xu Yang—her sworn enemy, the man who had killed her husband, the man she hated so much she wished she could devour his flesh and blood.
Her father and the others hadn’t killed Xu Yang. Instead, he’d come right to the Su Family estate.
Panicked and afraid, a terrible premonition bloomed in Su Man’s heart. "My father and the others... where are they?"
"I slaughtered them all," Xu Yang’s indifferent voice rang out. "And now I’m here to send you to join them."
Su Man’s face was a mask of horror, her pupils contracting violently. What Xu Yang said was very likely true.
’Because if Father and Second Uncle weren’t dead, Xu Yang would never have the audacity to come to the Su Family estate. And they would never have let him go, either.’
"Impossible!" she shrieked, her features contorting.
’Was I really as foolish as Father said? Did I get Father, Second Uncle, and my brother killed?’
"Nothing is impossible."
Xu Yang’s fingers suddenly tightened, and blood rushed to her snow-white neck.
CRACK!
With the crisp sound of breaking bone, Su Man’s twisted expression froze. Her eyes bulged wide; even at the moment of her death, she had never imagined this outcome.
Crimson blood trickled from the corner of her mouth as the light in her beautiful eyes slowly faded.
Xu Yang released his grip, letting her delicate body collapse to the ground like a pile of mud. He then vanished into the shadows without bothering to search for valuables.
After setting the fire, the Su Family estate was now in chaos. However, he didn’t kill everyone on sight. For one, most of the people running around were servants and maids, not Su Family members, and were therefore innocent.
Second, Cyan Yang City was, after all, Purple Sun Sect territory, and the Su Family’s ancestors had also been disciples of the sect. If his slaughter was too ruthless, the Purple Sun Sect might intervene, as they had Law Enforcement Disciples stationed in the city.
As long as the masters like Su Jianye were dead, the complete annihilation of the Su Family was only a matter of time. There was no need to be so ruthless as to provoke masters from the Purple Sun Sect. He only needed to kill those who were his enemies.
Xu Yang quickly located the main hall where Su Jianye kept the Half-Spirit Weapon. Even with the Su Family estate in an uproar, the hall was still guarded by two Qi Cultivation Gang masters who had not left their posts to deal with the fire.
He revealed himself and charged forward like a bolt of lightning.
"Who goes there?"
One of the guards was the first to spot him and let out a thunderous roar. Just as he and his companion were about to draw their sabers, Xu Yang closed in like a thunderclap and struck with both palms.
BANG!
BANG!
Two muffled thuds echoed almost simultaneously. Before the two men could even activate their Protective Gang Qi, Xu Yang’s hands slammed into them. Accompanied by the crisp sound of breaking bones, their chests caved in as they were sent flying backward, spewing mouthfuls of blood.
Xu Yang strode forward and shattered the door bolt with his Gang Qi. An exquisite great saber was displayed in the center of the hall; its scabbard alone looked priceless.
He quickly grabbed the saber and drew it halfway from its scabbard. Instantly, a bone-chilling cold filled the air, making the hair on his arms stand up, as if a blade were pressed against his skin.
’It really is a Half-Spirit Weapon, and one made by a master Forged Soldier from the Purple Sun Sect at that.’
Although he wasn’t an expert on Half-Spirit Weapons, he could tell that this one of Su Jianye’s was superior to the ones he had seen in the Divine Weapon Pavilion.
The bone-chilling killing intent it radiated sent a shiver down his spine, and it emitted a strange fluctuation.
Sheathing the saber, he left the hall and rushed toward another location.
During the day, he had observed the layout of the Su Family estate from a distance and had already determined the location of their Treasure Vault.
He weaved between the courtyard walls and soon came upon a place guarded by numerous masters: a large gate that gleamed with a metallic light.
’I’ll grab what I can and leave immediately. I can’t afford to linger,’ Xu Yang thought.
If he took too long, the Law Enforcers from Cyan Yang City would surely arrive, and escaping then would be difficult.
Moreover, being unable to use his Golden Gang Qi hampered his abilities.
His Golden Gang Qi was powerful, but it was far too recognizable. If anyone saw it, they would easily connect it to him.
BOOM!
With a single step that shattered the floor tiles, he swept forward like a gale-force wind, rushing toward the Treasure Vault’s gate.
"Enemy attack!"
"Damn you, thief! How dare you cause trouble here at the Su Family estate!"
"Kill him!"
Four or five Qi Cultivation Gang masters swarmed him from all sides, blasting out their Gang Qi from a distance.
Of course, the real trouble was that their loud shouts had already alerted others in the Su Family. Xu Yang could already sense an extremely powerful aura erupting in the distance and rushing toward him.
If he wasn’t mistaken, it had to be that nearly hundred-year-old monster of the Su Family, Su Xiuyuan.
CLANG!
A flash of cold light burst forth, accompanied by a sound as crisp and clear as a dragon’s cry.
Xu Yang drew the Half-Spirit Weapon. The surrounding temperature instantly plummeted as if it were the dead of winter, and a piercing aura filled the air.
The expressions of the onrushing Su Family masters changed drastically. They felt as if their bodies were about to be torn apart and shrieked, "Damn it! The thief stole the Patriarch’s Half-Spirit Weapon, the Cold Abyss Saber!"
The charging men were scared out of their wits and stopped dead in their tracks.
In the hands of a mere Qi Gathering Martial Artist, a Half-Spirit Weapon could match or even slay a Qi Cultivation Gang master. This intruder dared to barge into the Su Family estate; even if he wasn’t a Bone Marrow Cleansing Master, his cultivation had to be at least at the level of Great Achievement in Gang Qi Cultivation.
Facing him now, while he wielded a Half-Spirit Weapon, was suicide for anyone without Bone Marrow Cleansing Cultivation.
BOOM!
Xu Yang swept the Treasure Saber, and the incoming blasts of Gang Qi exploded. The two men at the front didn’t even have time to retreat before the flash of the blade swept across their bodies.
He felt almost no resistance as the Treasure Saber sliced both men in half at the waist.
"What a fine saber!"
A sharp light flashed in Xu Yang’s eyes. This Half-Spirit Weapon, the Cold Abyss, was terrifyingly sharp. Calling it sharp enough to slice a falling hair would be an understatement.
It was this powerful even without being infused with his Gang Qi. If he channeled his Gang Qi into it, its power would be even more terrifying.
He had a feeling that even his own Vajra Indestructible body probably couldn’t withstand a slash from this blade.
’If Su Jianye had brought this saber when he came to kill me, I probably would have had to flee for my life.’
Luckily, he had always kept a low profile, causing Su Jianye to underestimate his true strength.
"Argh..."
The men who had been sliced in two let out bloodcurdling screams as their bodies fell apart.
Xu Yang charged past them without killing anyone else. Raising the Half-Spirit Weapon, Cold Abyss, high with both hands, he brought it down in a fierce strike against the gate of the Su Family Treasure Vault.
