Chapter 489: Chapter 266: The Joy of a New Home
Seeming to notice Cheng Zongyang’s gaze fall upon a certain trembling part of her body, she paid it no mind, chuckling softly.
"I never thought you were an improper one, too. And here I thought you were so pure, but you’re just the quiet, reserved type. I was almost fooled by your prim-and-proper act."
Cheng Zongyang chuckled. "I really am pure, but so far, you’re the only one who’s caught my eye, Lady Qin. Your looks, I mean."
What attracted him was, indeed, her appearance. As for what she was like on the inside, he had no desire to ask. Looking was good enough.
Lady Qin hadn’t expected Cheng Zongyang to be so blunt. She stared into his eyes, and seeing that his gaze didn’t waver and taking in his expression, a smile bloomed on her face. "Well, it seems I’ve still got some charm, then, if I can even attract a little one like you."
With that, she stood up and placed a blue-gold Token on the table. Then, with a wave of her hand toward the two large chests of Spirit Stones, they all vanished. She then said:
"Let’s go. Time to transfer the ownership."
This sudden move stunned Cheng Zongyang, who was in the middle of reaching for the Token.
"Wait, you—you’re a Cultivator?"
’Why did I sense the strength of a Martial Artist from her?’
Lady Qin seemed to have seen through Cheng Zongyang’s confusion. She began walking outside, saying over her shoulder:
"Never trust the aura or Qi and Blood Power someone displays, no matter where you are. The Qi and Blood Power of those who enter the Dao through martial arts and of Qi Cultivation Stage Cultivators are roughly the same. However, a Qi Cultivation Stage Cultivator can conceal their aura and appear to be an ordinary person. So, don’t get too arrogant here in the County Town."
Cheng Zongyang opened his mouth but didn’t know what to say.
All he could say was that he still knew very little about this place. What he had learned over the past two or three days was merely scratching the surface.
’Looks like I’ll have to find a chance to reforge a Soul Slave and learn everything about this place from it.’ Cheng Zongyang decided immediately.
He still had a few High Tier Soul Crystal Stones on hand, and he hadn’t yet used the one from Huangfu Ren. That man was useless to him now, but the stone could be used to forge an even stronger Soul Slave. That was why he was waiting to collect souls exclusively from Martial Artists—a collection he had yet to complete.
He added the task to his mental checklist and followed Lady Qin outside.
Once on the Beast Vehicle, Cheng Zongyang couldn’t help but ask:
"Lady Qin, since you’re a Cultivator, why stay here? Is it just for the sake of the sisters in your establishment?"
Lady Qin gave him a wry smile. "My, my, little brother, you certainly don’t hold back, do you? How about you stick with me? I’ll make sure you live the good life. The sisters here may be a bit older, but their technique is still masterful, you know. You can have your pick. Of course, if you prefer them younger, I can arrange that for you, too."
Upon hearing this, Cheng Zongyang immediately cupped his fist in apology. "My apologies. I overstepped."
’Everyone has their secrets. I clearly forgot my place just now and said too much.’
’As for her offer... I should just treat it as empty words. Letting me have my pick?’
’Women in their thirties and forties are insatiable. With so many of them... even someone at Innate Great Perfection would be bedridden and need a doctor after a month of that.’
Perhaps because Cheng Zongyang had just overstepped, the carriage fell silent. He felt it wasn’t his place to speak, while Lady Qin simply didn’t feel like talking, closing her eyes to rest.
About forty-five minutes later, the Beast Vehicle crossed the stone bridge over the Zi’an River and entered the North District. Another half an hour after that, they arrived at the entrance of a thirteen-story tower in the County Town’s Central Region.
After exiting the vehicle, Cheng Zongyang and Lady Qin stood at the tower’s entrance. He looked up at the four elegant, golden words written above the main gate: Carefree Immortal Sect’s Station. He was filled with awe.
"This Cultivation Immortality Sect..."
"Save your sighs," Lady Qin said, cutting him off before he could finish. "Follow me. I’ll handle what comes next. Don’t say anything unless you’re signing your name."
"Alright." Cheng Zongyang shut his mouth and nodded.
There were many people at the Sect’s station on business. The first floor of the tower, which covered a vast area, was filled with men and women of all ages.
Recalling Lady Qin’s instructions, he only observed, not asking any questions or saying a word.
He did notice, however, that the hall on the first floor had seven large counters arranged around the periphery in a pattern resembling the eight trigrams. Different people were lining up at each one.
Feeling like a country bumpkin seeing the city for the first time, he looked around and slowly began to notice the differences between the counters.
Sect Freelance Missions, Private Bounties, County Town Quests, Identity Registration, Property Transfers, and so on.
’Seeing all this mundane business, Cheng Zongyang felt his lofty image of Cultivation Immortality Sects deflate a little.’
’Does a Cultivation Immortality Sect really need to handle these things personally? Couldn’t they just find an affiliated Cultivation Immortality Family to take care of it?’
But he was a newcomer and didn’t know the full story, so he refrained from further judgment.
They headed for the Property Transfers counter. After waiting in line, their turn finally came an hour later.
Lady Qin took over from there. Cheng Zongyang watched as she took out a Token and gave it to the Sect staff. After a brief explanation, she took the Identity Token Cheng Zongyang had so recently acquired.
A Sect Disciple then processed the transfer. The final step was for Cheng Zongyang to sign his name and provide a thumbprint. Afterward, Lady Qin handed a Storage Pouch to the disciple.
The Sect Disciple took inventory, nodded slightly, and removed eighteen thousand Spirit Stones, returning the rest to Lady Qin.
A moment later, a property deed proving he was the owner of the house was placed in Cheng Zongyang’s hands.
This was a deed to the house, not the land. The land itself still belonged to the Carefree Sect, but unless some matter of life and death arose or the Sect suddenly decided to reclaim the plot, the homeowner could live there as long as they pleased.
