Chapter 173: Chapter 173: Transferring Her Mother
Nathan Fawcett stood at the door of the hospital room, seeing Anne Sutton standing worriedly to one side, watching her mother. Mrs. Sutton was unconscious at the moment.
Nathan Fawcett said, "Arrange a transfer for her. Move her to the First Hospital."
The hospital director heard Nathan Fawcett, glanced into the room, and nodded. "Alright."
For Nathan Fawcett, something like this was effortless.
...
Once everything was arranged, Nathan Fawcett came in, and the director followed, explaining to Anne Sutton that her mother would be transferred.
Anne Sutton looked at Nathan Fawcett, realizing it was he who had arranged it.
She had always known it. With a man like Nathan Fawcett, you might not get love, but... in other aspects, you would never be left wanting.
Sharon Sutton said, "Mom can be transferred to the First Hospital? We tried to see a doctor there before, but we could never get an appointment."
We had no other choice, so we came to the Second Hospital.
Back then, Anne Sutton had been unwilling to contact her family, and Mrs. Sutton, knowing her daughter was upset, didn’t let anyone bother her. Anne Sutton glanced at Sharon.
Sharon Sutton glanced at Ethan Linden and, in that moment, felt that Anne Sutton being with him wasn’t without its advantages.
On the way to the First Hospital, Sharon Sutton looked at Anne Sutton and asked, "Sis, is what you said true? Do Stella and Ethan Linden really have no connection?"
Anne Sutton had a headache from all that had happened today. Hearing Sharon’s words, she said, "You don’t believe me? Or are you like Mom, thinking the Shields family is more credible?"
"No, no!" Sharon Sutton said. "I believe you! Besides, Ethan Linden didn’t look like he was lying."
Anne Sutton said, "Then you should have a proper talk with Mom later."
Sharon Sutton said, "Okay. It’s good she’s being transferred to the First Hospital. I have to go get my marriage certificate tomorrow, so I won’t have time to come and stay with Mom. With you watching her, I can rest a little easier. I wonder when Dad will be done with work; he’s barely come to the hospital to see her recently!"
Hearing Sharon Sutton’s words, Anne Sutton found it laughable. ’Busy with work?’
’He’s probably busy placating his woman!’
When it came to her father, Anne Sutton no longer had any expectations.
When they arrived at the new hospital, with Nathan Fawcett there, everything was arranged swiftly.
The hospital even arranged for the best doctor to take over Mrs. Sutton’s case.
Anne Sutton worked in a hospital herself, so she knew how difficult it was to get an appointment with the doctor Nathan Fawcett had arranged for her mother. She had tried to book him before, but he had refused her.
She never thought that as soon as Nathan Fawcett stepped in, it would be handled so easily.
Once they were settled in the hospital room, Mrs. Sutton woke up. She looked at Anne Sutton but refused to say a single word to her.
But in this state, if Anne Sutton were to leave, she was afraid her mother would immediately throw a tantrum about going home again.
Anne Sutton said, "Ethan Linden already explained it to you. You still don’t believe it?"
Mrs. Sutton didn’t make a sound; it was clear she was still sulking.
Nathan Fawcett stood to one side, watching this scene without saying anything.
Anne Sutton looked at him and said, "Why don’t you go back first? I’ll stay here with my mother. I’m a little worried about her."
Nathan Fawcett looked at her but didn’t answer. At that moment, Sean Sutton walked in. Seeing Nathan Fawcett, he said, "Mr. Linden."
It was Nathan Fawcett who had called him over.
He walked over, and when Mrs. Sutton saw him, her eyes showed a trace of dependence. After all, this was the man she had spent her life with.
Sean Sutton said, "I heard you were making a scene about wanting to be discharged. What’s going on?"
She spoke up, "Anne wants to be with this Ethan Linden. She won’t listen to me now."
Mrs. Sutton didn’t know, but Sean Sutton knew Nathan Fawcett’s identity.
Sean Sutton turned his head and glanced in Anne Sutton and Nathan Fawcett’s direction.
Anne Sutton was afraid her father would also start to misunderstand and was about to speak, but Sean Sutton said to Mrs. Sutton, "What’s wrong with them being together? Anne likes Ethan Linden, and she wants to be with him. Why are you trying to stop her?"
Tears streamed down Mrs. Sutton’s face. "But Ethan Linden is Stella’s fiancé. If Anne is with Ethan Linden, she’s being a homewrecker."
"Who says?" Sean Sutton’s temper flared. "Did that close friend of yours tell you that? She claims our Anne is a homewrecker? Well, I say her daughter is the homewrecker!"
’This is Nathan Fawcett, and Anne is legally married to him!’
’Who the hell does Stella Shields think she is?’
Mrs. Sutton looked at Sean Sutton and said, "I know Ethan Linden helped you, but are you now abandoning your own daughter for the company? Sean Sutton, I was wrong about you."
Fearing she would get agitated again, Sean Sutton said, "Who told you that? Anne has her reasons for doing things. You should stop trying to control her and stop casually believing what other people say. You don’t even believe your own daughter, yet you believe them?"
Hearing these words from Sean Sutton, Anne Sutton was almost moved.
’If only he had been this reasonable before and supported me wholeheartedly instead of siding with the Prescott father and son, how great would that have been!’
’But alas...’
’She had known for a long time what kind of person her father was!’
Even though he was speaking up for her now, she felt no goodwill toward him.
However, probably out of consideration for Nathan Fawcett, he was now placating Mrs. Sutton, which did stabilize her mood quite a bit.
Coming out of the hospital room, Anne Sutton felt that something wasn’t quite right.
She looked up at Nathan Fawcett and asked, "Does Sean Sutton know your identity?"
Nathan Fawcett paused at her question. ’Of course he knows.’
’He probably knows even more than Anne does.’
’It’s just...’
’If I told Anne now, wouldn’t my cover be blown?’
’She’d definitely ask when he found out.’
Nathan Fawcett asked in return, "What do you think?"
Anne Sutton immediately dismissed the guess. "Right now, I should be the only one who knows your identity."
"And the people close to you on the Linden Family’s side."
’My father couldn’t possibly know.’
’Besides, my father works for Charles Prescott. If he knew, it’s impossible that Charles Prescott wouldn’t know.’
Anne Sutton said to Nathan Fawcett, "He saw me with you and didn’t object in the slightest. If this were in the past, he would have definitely felt that I was being a homewrecker and shaming him."
Nathan Fawcett said, "You’re not a homewrecker, so why are you thinking about this? Ian is still at home, let’s head back."
Sean Sutton had said he would stay at the hospital with Mrs. Sutton, so he told Anne Sutton and Nathan Fawcett to go home first.
Anne Sutton looked at him and said, "Was it you who called my dad over?"
Nathan Fawcett said, "Yes."
"I knew it," Anne Sutton said. "He wouldn’t have come if you hadn’t called him! He’s been saying every day that he’s busy and completely ignoring my mother."
Her mother wanted her to be with Justin Shields and leave the Fawcett Family, and they were often at odds when they spoke. Anne Sutton felt helpless about it.
But if she didn’t come, Sharon Sutton would be left to care for their mother alone. That was fine before, but now that Sharon was pregnant, she wouldn’t be able to manage for many more days.
Although they had a hired caregiver at the hospital, as well as the family’s maids, it wasn’t the same as having a family member by her side.
Anne Sutton gave a helpless smile and said, "My dad’s a scumbag. He has a woman on the side and an illegitimate daughter, but even so, his words still have more influence on my mother than mine do. Tell me, what does a woman toil her whole life for?"
