Chapter 226: Chapter 226 Surrounded
Reginald’s POV
Finding Allen in this mess wasn’t simple, especially since the coward was bolting. Smart move on his part - staying meant certain death.
Our pack couldn’t survive King Perry’s assault.
"Going somewhere?" I lunged forward, grabbing his throat and slamming him down hard.
My fist connected with his face before I locked my hands around his neck.
Had to stop him from shifting. Strong as I was, Allen in beast form would tear me apart.
So I squeezed - tight enough to control him, loose enough to keep him breathing.
"What are you doing?!" Allen choked out, clawing at my grip. Pathetic. The man couldn’t fight to save his life.
"The key. Where is it?" I demanded, searching his pockets with my free hand. Nothing.
"Let go! We’re all dead if we don’t run!" He thrashed beneath me, trying to shift, but my hold kept his wolf trapped.
I pressed harder until his eyes rolled back.
"Where. Is. The. Key!" Each word dripped with deadly intent. Outside, the chaos grew louder - those Mya bastards were closing in.
"Can’t... breathe... get off..."
Allen’s face turned purple as he gasped.
"Talk first." No way I’d release this snake. He’d abandon Fiona and his unborn child without blinking.
"Back... pocket..."
Fiona stepped forward, fishing through his clothes until she found a ring of keys. Fifteen of them. She worked through each one on my silver shackle.
Seven tries later, the bracelet clicked open.
My wolf roared back to life. Being caged in silver was torture - it made shifters crazy, separated from their souls.
I snapped the bracelet onto Allen’s wrist before releasing him.
"No!" His eyes went wide with terror as the silver bit into his skin. "Take it off! I need the key!"
I stood up, taking the keys from Fiona. "Here’s what happens - you lead us to every pack member, then get us somewhere safe."
"Fine! Just give me the key!" Panic flooded his voice as reality hit - trapped in human form during a war zone meant death.
"Move first." Felt good turning the tables on this bastard. He’d been calling the shots too long.
"I’m not going anywhere without that key!"
Wrong move. "Stay here then."
I grabbed Fiona’s hand and started walking.
Allen cursed behind us but followed anyway. No choice now.
We reached the safe house where Sterling and the other Crimson Fang warriors waited.
"We need to go," Fiona said, freeing Joe from his silver restraints.
"I won’t follow him," Joe snarled, glaring at Allen with pure hatred.
"He knows where to go. Stop talking and move!" Fiona pushed them toward the exit.
We shifted and followed Allen’s lead after I freed him from the silver.
The forest stretched ahead as we climbed uphill. Below us, flames devoured the pack house - our escape route cut off. The Mya warriors had done their damage.
But we couldn’t linger. Still too dangerous.
We kept climbing until shapes emerged from the shadows.
Surrounded.
The battle erupted - claws ripping flesh, fangs finding throats. Bodies dropped on both sides as blood soaked the ground.
I stayed close to Fiona while Joe flanked her other side. Pregnancy meant she couldn’t shift without risking the baby.
Though why she’d want to keep Allen’s spawn was beyond me.
A enemy wolf crept behind me as I tore into another attacker. Fiona must have seen it because suddenly she was shifting, throwing herself at my would-be killer.
She cried out as pain ripped through her belly, but she’d saved my life.
These Mya fighters knew their business though - battle-hardened and quick to recover. Unlike Fiona.
The warrior’s claws found her chest before she could react.
