Chapter 207: Chapter 207 Sisters Return

Reginald’s POV

Why the hell was Viola here? She’d vanished for months, and now she shows up again, belly swollen with child. How did she track them down? More importantly, how did she find their mother?

"I’m going to kill her!" Alpha Sterling’s rage exploded through the clearing.

He blamed Viola for Kevin’s madness - ever since she left, Kevin had spiraled into chaos.

"Reginald!" Tiara’s scream pierced the air as she threw herself between Sterling and Viola. She’d always favored her daughter over Reginald, so seeing Viola again filled her with joy, especially pregnant. "Reginald! Do something! Stop just standing there! He wants to hurt your sister!"

Tiara desperately tried to shield Viola from Sterling’s fury.

The other warriors hung back, watching the drama unfold without moving. Most belonged to the Crimson Fang pack, with only a few Obsidian Claw survivors left standing. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

They stayed out of it - not their fight.

"Reginald!" Tiara’s panic spiked as Sterling seized Viola’s arm, yanking her toward him.

That snapped Reginald into action. He broke free from Fiona’s grip on his arm and lunged forward to stop Sterling. He grabbed Sterling’s elbow and squeezed until his hold on Viola loosened.

"Ah!" Sterling howled in pain, his glare burning into Reginald for daring to interfere. "Let me go now!" He threatened to shift, ready to escalate this into a bloodbath. He was determined to end Viola.

"Enough!" Reginald roared, releasing Sterling’s arm but grabbing his sister instead. "Come on. We need to talk."

He dragged Viola away from the crowd, somewhere they could speak privately.

"Careful! Handle her gently! Don’t hurt her - she’s pregnant! Reginald!" Tiara’s voice followed them, but she didn’t pursue. She knew that no matter how harsh Reginald could be, he’d never truly harm his sister.

Reginald ignored their mother and only released Viola’s arm once they were alone, away from prying eyes.

"Why are you here? How did you find mother?"

He fired questions at her while she stayed eerily quiet.

"Is this how you greet your sister after all this time?" Viola shot back, but Reginald wasn’t buying her deflection.

"Are you here on orders? Is this a trap?"

He studied her face, searching for tells. When he’d found her in the palace, they’d barely spoken, but their few interactions taught him that Viola was devoted to her mate - a loyal warrior to the king.

Her presence here had to mean something.

"Tell me the truth. What are you doing here?" Reginald growled, locking eyes with her, but she was skilled at hiding her thoughts.

"You’re hurting me!" Viola snapped, struggling against his grip. "Want to break my arm? If you want to talk, you don’t need to manhandle me! What can I do? I’m heavily pregnant - I can’t exactly run! Let go!"

Viola had always been stubborn. If she decided to clam up, that was it.

She had a point though - there was no reason to restrain her when she couldn’t flee anyway.

Reginald released her arm.

"Now talk. What are you doing here?" His anger simmered, but he held it in check. He scanned their surroundings but sensed nothing wrong. Was he being paranoid?

Viola rubbed her elbow where he’d gripped her. It was probably sore.

"What? I can’t visit my own mother?" she snapped. "I missed her. I wanted to see her."

"How did you find her?" Reginald’s eyes narrowed.

"She’s a fugitive because of you!" Viola’s anger flared. "I knew the fugitives and the royal beta from Valerium planned to cross the border, so I checked nearby villages, thinking you’d be there." She wasn’t lying about that.

"How can you find us when none of the royal warriors can?"

"Stop yelling at me! If you want to talk, let’s talk!"

Viola shouted back. "They couldn’t track you because they don’t know the other warriors from Obsidian Claw and Crimson Fang packs. They only recognize you, Alpha Sterling, and key figures like the royal beta.

They don’t know our mother either, so I used that advantage to search the villages. Mom found me!"

Not a lie, but not the whole truth either.

"What’s your real purpose here? Don’t tell me you abandoned your mate?" Reginald’s suspicion deepened.

"Of course not. I just wanted to see Mom and make sure she’s safe." Viola then filled him in on the royal warriors’ movements.

They argued back and forth until Viola threw her hands up in frustration. "If you want to be suspicious of me, fine! Do it! I just wanted to see Mom."

With that, Viola stormed back to where their mother waited.

"I’m so glad you’re here. What did your brother say?" Tiara asked curiously.

"Come here, Mom. I need to tell you something."

Viola pulled their mother aside while Reginald dealt with Alpha Sterling, who still wanted Viola’s blood.

"Mom, this is very important."
