Chapter 150: Chapter 150 One More Before Dawn
Perry’s POV
I couldn’t get enough of her.
We lay naked on the grass, gazing up at the star-filled night sky.
Phoebe shifted closer to me as the cool wind brushed against her bare skin. I wrapped my arms around her body and intertwined our legs, pulling her against my warmth.
I pressed a soft kiss to her forehead. "We need to go back."
We both knew we should, yet neither of us moved or made any effort to leave. This moment felt too perfect. I wanted to hold onto every second. I didn’t want to go if I could steal just a few more moments.
"We really need to leave..." I sighed, then gave her bottom a playful smack that made her jolt and stare at me with wide eyes. "You look so damn cute. I want to keep you in my pocket." I chuckled.
This night felt magical because I found myself laughing so much. Not my usual mocking laugh, but something genuine that seemed to brighten everything around us.
"Stop looking at me like that."
I leaned down to capture her lips, groaning as I felt myself harden again. If it were up to me, she’d be unconscious from exhaustion by now.
But when she threaded her fingers through my hair and tugged, my weak resolve shattered completely. I groaned against her mouth.
"One more... just give me one more." I spread her legs apart and positioned myself between them. I reached down and felt how slick she was.
Good. At least she wanted this too.
I pulled back to study her face - her cheeks flushed pink, the color spreading down to her collarbones and chest. This was one of countless things I loved about her.
Her body never lied. There was no hiding that she craved me just as much.
"I promised I’d make it up to you, didn’t I?"
I smirked as she pressed her lips together in response.
This was way beyond making up for anything. I’d already taken her at least four times tonight. She was drenched from our combined releases.
I pushed inside her, grunting at the sensation. A deep rumble escaped my chest as I felt how perfectly she gripped me.
"Christ, Phoebe. I want to stay buried inside you forever. Damn, leaving you is going to kill me."
I moved faster, each thrust desperate and urgent.
Phoebe’s body trembled as she clung to me, her nails raking down my back, and I loved it. I craved this sweet pain. I needed her.
"Fuck, Phoebe. You’re so tight." I pinched her nipple and bit down on her neck where my mark lay, sending her higher.
When she came apart beneath me, the blissful expression lasted for minutes. She bit into my shoulder as the sensation overwhelmed her. I was so deep inside her, my teeth claiming her neck again.
The pain only fed the fire burning through both of us.
It didn’t take long for me to follow her over the edge. My whole body shook as I breathed hard. I groaned and went still, reaching my peak and filling her completely.
As we both came down from our high, I noticed the first hint of sunlight painting the horizon.
Stars still dotted the sky and the moon hung above us, but dawn was breaking. For a brief moment, both sun and moon shared the sky, creating something beautiful.
I felt Phoebe hug me tighter as she stared at the gorgeous sight. I was still inside her, and finally, it seemed like the universe was showing her some mercy.
"We really need to go," I said, pulling out of her. She flinched as our mixed fluids spilled from her, making her blush, but I just laughed at her reaction. "Come on, let’s get you cleaned up. You don’t want to walk around like this all day."
She bit her lip and smacked my arm lightly for my crude comment, but I scooped her up in my arms and headed toward the river.
We ended up going at it once more before finally leaving. By then, she was too exhausted to walk, so I carried her on my back all the way to the palace.
By the time I brought her back, she had fallen into a deep sleep. Our scents were still mingled together on her skin.
"Sleep well, my beautiful mate." I leaned down to kiss her lips one more time. I sighed heavily as I forced myself to pull away and walked out of her room.
The warriors were waiting for me outside. I hadn’t brought many with me, since enough were already stationed at the Obsidian Claw pack.
All they needed was someone to lead the charge.
"So you’re really going?" Elder Tricia approached me, his brow furrowed. He still didn’t agree with my decision.
But if my own mate couldn’t convince me to stay, what could he possibly say to change my mind?
"I’ve led warriors into battle before. I’ve done this multiple times while my father hoped I’d come back in a body bag, but I survived. This kind of fight won’t break me, old man."
Elder Tricia groaned in annoyance when I called him that. "Fine. Do whatever you want, but get back fast. Bring that brat with you and let the other warriors handle cleanup. There won’t be much for you to do once you take them down."
Here he goes with his lectures again.
But I simply nodded. "Okay. Take care of my mate. I don’t want anything happening to her. And keep the other elders away from her."
