Chapter 143: Chapter 143 A Betrayal Through The Heart
Timothy cursed himself for being too reckless with his choice, walking straight into the enemy’s snare.
He glared at Alpha Theodore and Reginald.
He had to face both men alone, having separated himself from his other warriors without realizing it, taking their bait to follow them here.
What the fuck.
He couldn’t believe he was this dense, this gullible to walk into their trap. But now wasn’t the time to regret his decision. He had to deal with them and find a way out of this mess.
"You are very young and a good strategist, I’ll give you that," Alpha Theodore said with a menacing smile tugging at his lips. "But you lack experience."
"Well, sorry I’m not as ancient as you." Timothy looked around, trying to find a way—any way—to escape this disaster.
He was currently trapped in the ruins of the Obsidian Claw pack house. He’d managed to lead his warriors to seize the building and burn it to the ground, but now he was stuck here with Alpha Theodore and Reginald.
"Let’s finish this, shall we?" He tilted his head. "But don’t you think it’s overkill for both of you to fight me? Why not try being more honorable about it?"
However, Reginald ignored his attempt to stall for time so his warriors could arrive. He immediately shifted into his beast and lunged at him.
Reginald had lived in the palace long enough to learn Timothy’s tricks. He was skilled with words—otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to make those hundreds of thousands of warriors loyal to him, willing to throw their lives away for him on the battlefield.
Therefore, he wasn’t going to let him distract Alpha Theodore.
With Reginald’s shift into his beast, it was Alpha Theodore’s cue to do the same. His beast was larger since he was the alpha, but Reginald was faster, being in his prime. He’d been training extensively during his palace stay, and it showed.
Timothy rushed forward. He needed to reach the door—his only escape route—because the broken ceiling was too high for him to leap over.
But to do that, he needed to take down these two.
Clearly, it wasn’t going to be easy. Reginald used the situation to his advantage, distracting him while Alpha Theodore delivered the crucial blow to bring him down.
Surprisingly, Reginald and Alpha Theodore worked well together, which was bad news for him.
However, he’d been through wars before. He knew how to exploit situations, and he spotted an opportunity.
His brown beast pinned down Alpha Theodore’s as he made a deceptive move and clawed his throat.
The alpha was shocked by this move, as was Reginald, and they went still for a brief second. When Alpha Theodore could no longer maintain his beast form, he shifted back to human form, clutching his throat.
The alpha crawled away from him, glaring at Reginald to finish this fight immediately.
However, Alpha Theodore didn’t get far. Timothy grabbed him by his shoulder and wrapped his claws around his neck again, threatening to deepen the wound. If he did that, there was no way he’d survive.
"Surrender, Reginald," he said sternly. He’d managed to reach one of the warriors who was nearby.
Earlier he couldn’t do that because they were too far, but he was lucky—there was one who’d wandered to this side of the building looking for him. "You won’t live long if you resist."
He’d shifted back to human form, holding Alpha Theodore close with his claws at his neck, preventing his wounds from healing.
"Surrender? Do you think your king will let me live?"
Reginald scoffed. He’d shifted to human form too so he could communicate with him.
"Get down, Reginald," Alpha Theodore said with difficulty.
For a brief moment their eyes met, and the alpha felt a chill down his spine when he saw the intention in Reginald’s eyes.
The next second was a blur because Reginald moved lightning-fast, his claws piercing through Alpha Theodore’s heart, straight toward his.
No one expected this move. Reginald caught them off guard, but thankfully his reflexes were sharp—he pushed Alpha Theodore away from him immediately, barely avoiding getting his heart ripped out.
Meanwhile, Alpha Theodore glared at Reginald in disbelief. He hadn’t expected his son-in-law to kill him just to get to him.
"How..." Alpha Theodore didn’t even manage to get his words out before his heart stopped beating. His eyes stared at Reginald widely, as if cursing him.
If looks could kill, the alpha would’ve dragged Reginald down with him. This man was... an abomination.
However, it wasn’t a surprising move from Reginald.
He’d done it to Kevin, and it was a pity that Cameron had managed to escape his grasp.
On the other hand, Reginald shook his hand free from Alpha Theodore and approached him. Timothy was gasping for his life.
"You... how could you..." He had no problem with Reginald killing Alpha Theodore, but the way he betrayed someone who’d helped him was... beyond comprehension.
Reginald didn’t respond. He shifted into his beast to finish him off, but he was too late—warriors had come to his rescue, and if the door got blocked, he’d die there.
Therefore, Reginald leaped out of the room and headed straight to the Crimson Fang’s pack house, where Fiona had been waiting for him.
"Where is my father?"
"Dead. Timothy killed him."
